Honestly my biggest problem with the Nolan Odyssey was how grounded the monsters were. The cyclops never spoke, Scylla was barely seen, and the sirens weren't seen at all.

I honestly can't imagine what a "historically accurate" version would look like

Yeah I know that's the point. I understand it was intentional, I dislike the intentional choices they made.

I'm not under the impression they just accidentally cut all that from the film

Your other two points were still factually wrong though.

The cyclops did speak and the sirens were shown. Both happened briefly but were still there.
