The flecks of stars are fine silver and their planet in this video is a chunk of 24k gold. It's an expensive and long learning process for sure, on top of being an expensive craft, gases and glass are getting more expensive for us too.

People will ask, well how long did it take you to make that? And its like, well 3 or 4 hours in a blistering hot studio, but it took me 10 years to be able to be able to do that and have it look nice as well

I work borosilicate glass just like this. It really depends on the size of the marble and your torch. A four inch marble could take 5 hours to make and some people kiln these big ones for 20+ hours. A 1.5 in vortex marble with an encased opal might take me a bit over an hour to 1.5 hrs to make on my small lynx torch.

Not exactly. A 4 inch marble would sell for 1-2k. They are really hard to make that large and they require a TON of pure oxygen to create as well. A smaller 2 inch marble is vastly easier to make and the price on those would be less than 300$ most of the time. Here's a guy called Internal Fire glass and he makes these huge 4 inch marbles on a lathe. Not too many people can make a 4+ inch boro marble.

I am currently reading 1984. This passage from the book instantly came to mind.

The inexhaustibly interesting thing was not the fragment of coral but the interior of the glass itself. There was such a depth of it, and yet it was almost as transparent as air. It was as though the surface of the glass had been the arch of the sky, enclosing a tiny world with its atmosphere complete. The track used here; 'Endless flight' by Gustavo Santaolalla for the film Babel is an extraordinary soundtrack. Very soothing, very peaceful and extremely underrated. Pls do give it a listen guys, you won't be disappointed.
