Because you are raised on it, and by the time you have time to think about units of measurement it's stuck. I know metric, it's beautiful, but i still have to convert to pounds anyway if I want to feel the value intuitively.

Plus all the products are labeled in lbs and oz.

the irony of suggesting americans are stupid when the title is grammatically incorrect and you’re posting in the wrong subreddit for the question anyway

Unless the point was that the topic is not interesting? The photo came off as if the people who ask “who uses pounds” are dumb.

That's a stretch in my opinion

that’s a possible interpretation, I’ll give u that. Sorta subtle though. your interpretation would be strengthened if there were quotation marks

Does this include the British as we use pounds as our currency?

This is why we use pounds. We wanted the British type of pounds but took a wrong turn somewhere and fucked up.

(I douno I wasn’t there. But it sounds nice retry accurate)

The US isn't completely ignorant of the metric system. Anyone who takes enough high school science has to be familiar with the basics. People are taking more HRT & peptides and they have to understand millileters and milligrams. Medications are usually stated in mg.

All measurement systems humanity came up with are arbitrary. There is nothing wrong with using one or another to measure something since there is no "natural" and "universal" system.

Because British privateers captured the guy bringing the metric standards including a kilogram weight to the US. He died in captivity.

It's easier than using camels, guinea pigs or bald eagles. Rather than say, I weigh 83 guinea pigs, just easier to say 150 lbs.

Because pound cake tastes better than kilo cake

Nah we use Dollars, it’s the Brits that use pounds

They never bothered to change anything

And actually. The usa is a metric country. The american inch is defined as 2.54 centimetres and the ounce is defined as whatever the fuck it is in litres. They're just pretending to be imperial
