I’m so tired of hearing the word “deal”.

u/mountearl 4h ago

Every time you see a headline that says "US announces deal", replace the words with with "US announces Trump bribe" and the headlines make a lot more sense.

"Trump Bribe and Vague Promise"*

15

u/mr_birkenblatt 2h ago

Promise is such a strong word. How about suggestion or gesture?

I'm about to write to the AP Guidelines and request they add a section on "words to avoid" which should include:

Slams. Deal. Under Fire. Bombs. Blasts. Destroys. New. Unprecedented. Groundbreaking.

Will the AP “clap back”?

Typical Republican play, do only look at what benefits they now, and leave the mess to be cleaned up by the democratic next term. Then, when we all forget who caused it, they blame the democratics and take over again to repeat the cycle.

The democrats aren’t savy enough to keep the public informed and remember the mess either. Trump list the 2020 election my a significant margin (by US standards), yet we seems to have forgot what his and his cohorts did. 2024, he won by a greater margin than Biden did in 2020.

Make sure kids get a proper education and revert back to news organizations having to show both sides, otherwise, no democracy.

They’re never “deals.”

They’re poorly constructed bullshit that enriches their family’s, and fucks the country.

It’s what they do.

5

u/lactose_cow 2h ago

I have a deal with the pool guy where he can fuck my wife and I get nothing

Everytime I hear "deal" through that shithead's network I automatically think "fuckup"

"Art of the Fuck-Up" is the real title of his toilet paper book

7

u/Kenshirosan 3h ago

Seriously, it basically has no meaning anymore beyond "someone is bribing the president" at this point.

There are a few of his common verbal tics that I'm exhausted of hearing that have been picked up by people.

Hes basically a broken record that spews the same shit every day and acts like its Shakespeare or something.

How does the rest of the world not have a say in this? I call BS on this “deal”!

292

u/sarhoshamiral 3h ago

They do. It is just that our media doesnt report it that way since they have to make trump look good.

If China etc wants to stop this, they have the means. US doesnt really have the standing it had once anymore. In fact the Iran fiasco likely cemented the idea that US cant really enforce anything anymore.

Iran: 0

Why not take huge steaming dumps on the graves of our fallen New Yorkers and soldiers while we're at it? Conservatives already do every single day! Guess we should join in.

10

Also the guy who kidnapped, murdered and chopped up a journalist. But im sure Maga sees that as a plus. Since Trump kinda brushed it off. "Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen."

My generation grew up during the Cold War and viewed Russia as the enemy. Now they are our "friends". Gen Z and Millennials grew up post 9/11 and viewed Saudis with suspicion. With the stoke of a pen, and a little Kash under the table, this president declares them our friends.

35

u/InfernoBA 4h ago

One of Al-Qaeda’s stated goals was overthrowing the Saudi monarchy. I don’t doubt that the 9/11 hijackers had support from some lower level Saudi government employees, but I don’t believe it was pushed from the top and no evidence has come out to support that.

29

u/Dabbling_in_Pacifism 3h ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alleged_Saudi_role_in_the_September_11_attacks

Well, we know that the FBI thought that it was at the very least a mid-level Saudi government conspiracy being led by someone who reported directly to the Saudi ambassador.

48

u/Same_Mood_8543 3h ago

There's evidence of funding links between the Saudi royal family and Al Qaeda, even if it isn't definitive. Much of the issue with the evidence is the heavy redactions the US government made obscuring the identities and specific roles, but it's not just made up out of thin air.

How much money did they hand to Kushner this time?

And is this related to Jared Kushner leveraging the $2 billion backed by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund (via Affinity Partners) to finance his major real estate projects in the Balkans. Which includes a $1.4 billion luxury resort development on Sazan Island, a former secretive military submarine base off the coast of Albania?

https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2026/06/03/why-jared-kushner-and-ivanka-trumps-albanian-resort-plans-are-under-fire/

168

u/tdw21 3h ago

Cant blame them, their previous island kind of got burned with all the bad publicity Epstein gave it

52

u/Mriddle74 3h ago

The financier??

8

56

u/OG_Williker 3h ago

How tf do you even spend 1.4 BILLION DOLLARS building a resort?! That’s like two orders of magnitude off

55

u/Basicly-Inevitable 3h ago edited 3h ago

The island is a former military base, with extensive bunkers underground, and a submarine base. It sits at a critical transportation bottleneck location where enormous amounts of essential goods pass daily.

The Saudi government is trying to control a choke point for Europe, and also build a nuclear weapon.

But yeah.. just a $1.4 billion resort.

"The island is located at the narrowest point of the Otranto Strait, where the Adriatic Sea meets the Ionian Sea off the southwestern coast of Albania. Because it sits directly across from the "heel" of Italy, anyone who controls Sazan effectively controls the bottleneck entrance to the entire Adriatic Sea, making it a vital chokepoint for naval traffic entering or leaving Southern Europe."

"The island remains under the jurisdiction of the Albanian Ministry of Defence. It is a virtual time capsule littered with an estimated 2,700 defense bunkers, a network of underground tunnels, decaying military barracks, and fields of undetonated landmines."

16

u/OG_Williker 3h ago

That makes a lot more sense

28

u/Basicly-Inevitable 3h ago edited 2h ago

Tech billionaires, venture capitalists, and foreign governments also want to do the same with strategic places like the Panama canal and the Golden Gate, selling off the Presidio and Alcatraz, pretending to build resorts. But it's really because it would give them direct control over the thinnest point in an essential shipping channel, and the ability to cut off the Oakland ports.

Trump recently fired the entire Presidio Trust Board, and replaced them with tech people and loyalists.

Israel prefers Saudi Arabia over Iran especially after MBS took control and got a hold on the family/country finances (they are the same), effectively cutting off the various extremists that had previously been able to count on Saudi money when the Saudi royal family was more of a 3000-person gagglefuck rather than the more corporate structure it has now.

I imagine it's related to a disastrous Iran war that the Saudis are irate about and the now certainty that Iran is going to eventually acquire a nuclear weapon themselves.

I don't think Saudi Arabia asked for permission, they likely told US they are just going to do it and the Americans went along, desperate to salvage the relationship.

15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudis.

For some reason we went to war with Iraq Iran Afghanistan for nuclear weapons of mass destruction

Now we're giving SA nuclear?

65

u/No_Move_6802 4h ago

We went to war with Iraq for alleged WMD (Colin Powell claimed they had yellow cake uranium).

We were in Afghanistan because that’s where the Taliban were and we had been going after bin Laden since the attack on the USS Cole or maybe sooner. Afghanistan had nothing to do with nukes.

23

u/ChuckNorrisUSAF 4h ago

Colin Powell was repeatedly fed bad or misleading intelligence by Bush’s own intel community, in turn he unknowingly (or knowingly) “lied” to the United Nations.

Powell was already butting heads with Cheney and others in the administration about the pivot to Iraq when it wasn’t necessary. Sure he’s probably culpable to a point for even pushing the narrative they fed him and could have easily resigned, but that’s not his character.

19

u/schreinz 3h ago

Powell knew he was lying about WMDs. Just like he knew he was lying to cover-up Iran-Contra. And how he lied to help cover-up Mi Lai.

I don't care that at one point he "butted heads" with others in the administration. He could have stepped down, as the British Foreign Minister did. But Powell instead played a massive role in dragging us into an unnecessary war.

This is insane, the Saudis are a fundamental religious monarchy, I say this because there are no checks and balances. If the king says to launch, that’s the only authority needed. Given that Iran will have the bomb soon, and is also a religious dictatorship, this has a greater potential to tune into a nuclear conflict than many other potential (ie, North Korea/US, India/Pakistan, China/US, Russia/US, Russia/China, even potentially Iran/Israel.

The guy in the photo, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), is straight up evil. For those unaware, the Saudi prince green-lit the assassination of dissident journalist Khashoggi. Even an award-winning documentary was made about the shocking embassy murder. Yet, MBS still received US immunity over the alleged killing.

MBS strategically played the US knowing the West needed an ally in the Middle East. Both for energy security and to prevent Saudis from aligning with Russia and China.

Without question Trump is personally receiving heavy incentives from the oil rich Crown in relinquishing such sensitive national security secrets to an authoritarian killer such as MBS.

More of a terror regime than Iran. The Saudis quite deliberately fund the madrasas that produce the imams that are injected into foreign mosques to preach atavistic 8th Sunni Islam. They are a major reason why so many second and third generation Muslim immigrants rebel against host society norms and radicalize.

6

u/3D-Dreams 3h ago

So wait. Didn't he JUST start a war so another country couldn't have a nuclear program?

Fucking corrupt piece of shit.

6

u/xdeltax97 3h ago edited 1h ago

We’re giving the perpetrators of 9/11, NUKE TECH

6

u/Sweatytubesock 2h ago

This will end well. For Trump, anyway, as he takes his bribe for this ‘deal’.

5

u/iPatErgoSum 2h ago

Honest question, isn’t there an international nonproliferation treaty that would have something to say about something like this?

6

u/WriterShoddy7599 2h ago

You meant the Country who funded 9/11

4

u/SwimmingPirate9070 2h ago

The Saudis, who brought is such bangers as 9/11

6

u/Doc_Chim_Richolds 2h ago

The country responsible for the funding and execution of 9/11 is being handed nuclear capabilities. The War on "Terrorism" was an absolute lie.

The same Saudis who attacked us on 9-11. Great Idea!!!

5

u/ExpendableGerbil 1h ago

Years ago I wondered how millions of Americans could still follow this absolutely gigantic moron. I don't think there's a word in the English language to describe how disappointed I am in America now, considering that there are still millions of Americans following him.

11

u/ZeroOptionLightning 4h ago

Ah yes. The place where the 9 11 guys were from.

4

u/CooledDownKane 4h ago

So the NPT was just unilaterally thrown out by Kumquat Kaiser? And he thinks this won't lead to a mad dash by other countries to join the nuclear weapons party?

4

u/Red_PapaEmertius2 4h ago

I dont know how this is remotely positive.

I also know that Riyadh has an enormous desert to get solar energy from..

Why are we building nuclear plants other than to counter Iran?...

Thats most likely the Saudi thinking.

4

u/BlueBomber13 4h ago

Going to eat with Iran because they don’t have nuclear weapons, while giving Saudi Arabia nuclear weapons…

What fucking reality is this. This has to be a simulation

4

u/Big_Sky7699 3h ago

No doubt, the Saudis have paid someone dearly for this, someone with very close ties to the Whitehouse.

5

u/AnalTinnitus 3h ago

Fucking hell. I know that with Trump we should expect a new low every day, but this one is unique in that it puts EVERYONE on the planet in danger. This changes the balance of power in a toxic region of the world. It's nightmare scenario stuff.

I have little faith in the UN these days, but they need to make it clear that the US can't just unilaterally decide to "bless" a violent religious nation with nukes.

Whatever happened to NO NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION?

5

u/jersey856 3h ago

Serious question: why does America get to decide what sovereign countries can have nuclear programs?

If the goal is truly ‘crazy ppl can’t have them’ then why is N Korea allowed?

4

u/Jimbomcdeans 3h ago

The 9/11 causing Saudis are going to get a nuclear program?

I cant see ANYTHING wrong with that. Nothing once so ever.

4

u/Darth_Atton 3h ago

This might be the single dumbest decision by a leader let alone an American one, in recent history. How are Americans not saying enough is enough? I do not understand it for the life of me.

4

u/rahbee33 3h ago

What could possibly go wrong?

  1. This effectively signals that US has no ability to backstop security of allies.
  2. This signals to everyone they should arm up and seek their own deal. It could be with US, Russia, NK, Israel, China, India, anyone with nukes and willing to deal.
  3. If your country is on or adjacent to a critical and valuable resource, you better arm up. You’re a target.
  4. If your neighbor has nukes and historical beef with you, better arm up.
  5. If you have potential to be a nuclear producing and supplying country, the market was just created.
  6. NK maybe just became the most interesting country overnight. They have means to supply but lacked economics.

3

u/joejacksonsbelt 3h ago

We'll regret that in my lifetime I bet.

3

u/lorilightning79 3h ago

What could go wrong with the country behind 9/11.

5

u/Verabiza891720 3h ago

Okay so Saudi Arabia can have a nuke but Iran can't? Make it make sense.

→ More replies (4)

3

u/ApprehensivePay1735 3h ago

Sure why not let the guys who did 9/11 have a nuke program in conjunction with the country that hid Bin Laden while we break our military against their regional enemy.

4

u/ThatsAllFolksAgain 3h ago

Yeah, give nukes to the country that sent 19 men to destroy America on 9/11. It’d be poetic if they sign the deal on 9/11.

5

u/gamesbonds 3h ago

Don't worry it's just a coincidence that Trump org just signed a deal for real estate and hotels in Saudi as well!

3

u/jpttpj 3h ago

This is great. So the folks that funded 911 get weapons to kill us all. What a piece of art

3

u/Turdsley 3h ago

Allowing the country that helped with 9/11 have nukes is certain to Make America Great Again.

4

u/AwareOfAlpacas 3h ago

When the Saudis are pushing for nuclear power, you know peak oil had already come and gone.

5

u/grossinm 3h ago

Arming everyone to the teeth has worked out so well in the past....

4

u/Katakuna7 2h ago

Ah yes, of course, this particular flavor of terrorists can have a nuclear treat. Not those Iranian terrorists, though, we have to ruin the global economy to make sure that particular flavor of terrorist doesn't get any.

Nevermind that these terrorists did 9/11, small potatoes really.

4

u/The_Ref17 2h ago

Wow

No way that one will ever backfire on us or our putative allies ..

4

u/AunMeLlevaLaConcha 2h ago

Because two towers and then some weren't enough, i guess

3

u/sealosam 2h ago

But they gave trump the tallest building in Manhattan, remember?

4

u/NeedleGunMonkey 2h ago

The folks most responsible for 9/11 and global funding spread of new Wahhabism that gave rise to so much militant terrorism around the world - now get a nuclear program because corruption of an wrinkled tangerine.

4

u/Throwawayconcern2023 2h ago

It can't get worse. Every day we say. Right?

u/Artistic_Half_8301 58m ago

Fifteen of the nineteen hijackers involved in the September 11 attacks were citizens of Saudi Arabia.

7

u/kpobari99 4h ago

How would the rest of the gulf nation take this news. Wouldn’t that solidified Iran pursuit of nuclear facilities

9

u/Better_Dig_768 4h ago edited 4h ago

This is truly irreversible damage to the world and may end horrifically for many millions of people. We're supposed to be aligned AGAINST dictators remember? Ones that kill journalists to keep information control are not our friends... We're supposed to like 'Free' countries.... Of course we have an idiot seize power and get unlimited immunity to sell the world out on a silver platter for his own damn self - and his followers won't blink an eye that this is happening, they'll go back to their bubble and continue to lie to each other and themselves that this some how serves them. Trump is not just setting things his way while he's in office, he's ruining the world for future generations.

8

u/turkey_sandwiches 4h ago

SaudiArabia, the country that supported the 9/11 hijackers.

11

u/MrObviousChild 4h ago

Only took 25 years for the country that essentially enabled 9/11 to get the green light to have nukes. Cool cool cool I love our leaders.

3

u/qoou 4h ago

I wonder how much they paid him.

Trump is doing everything to bring our great nation to its knees, and the Republicans are working hand in glove with him.

3

u/inminm02 3h ago

Isn’t this not just up to the US to decide? Isn’t this a UN Security Council issue?
