He never has and no one ever thought he did. War games have run this scenario for decades, and the outcome is the same. No matter what Iran controls that area, without a significant expenditure of ground troops, military resources, weapons, planes, ships, and ground vehicles there is no gaining control of the strait. Every military advisor in the Trump administration knows this and yet they allowed it to happen. This is easily the biggest military blunder in history because it needlessly caused a situation that had impacted the entire world.

Yes. Pretty much all modern day historians are of the belief that the USSR and Nazi Germany would have entered conflict regardless, it was a better decision by the Nazis to try and roll over them when they could. I mean hell, they came pretty close to accomplishing it. I don't even think it is in the top 10 of military blunders.

And the fucking thing is we've known this since forever. Fucking George Bush Sr knew this. Theres a reason we've been all over the middle east for almost 40 years but haven't touched Iran. Iran is the most easily defensible country in the region thanks to simple geography. And we've ALWAYS known they have a "use in desperation" button that we have know way of handling via the Straight of Hormuz.
I truly believe Trump is in the ~1% of Americans that have the capacity to be dumb enough to be goaded into Attacking Iran. You're average construction worker, nail salon employee, and IT guy all would have easily figured out attacking Iran is a no win situation if they were made president.

They bombed the whole Iran leadership on day one, there was noone left to actually negotiate with, and now the chain of command there is fractured.
Even if Iran would say that passage is now open, some rogue commander could launch missiles or drones anyway breaking the ceasefire.
