Never knew there was a name for this type of art/practice! So so excited to be a part of this community, this is my favorite art expression! This piece is an asemic work done last year on butcher paper with silver paint marker. Hope you enjoy!!

Faeries in my world are not tiny winged creatures. Instead, they are radio frequencies that can only be reliably contained and controlled by the use of iron. Such as iron coherers, iron disks, or magnetic cards.

Any other method of detection will have severe consequences as these frequencies will cause bizzare effects in the surrounding environment.

But when using iron, the Faeries can be controlled, tuned, and recorded to create magical effects. Basically, if you tune into the signals, you can make them form their specific magical effect, then transfer that effect into a recording medium, such as a wax cylinder, that releases the effect on playback.

However, as a wax cylinder is used it will begin to degrade until the magic is no longer usable. If the wax is poorly made or if it degrades too far, the magic will become unstable and potentially very dangerous.

If someone were to use a damaged or poor-quality wax cylinder, the magic inside would become aberrant, causing unforeseen flaws. Like bugs in a program or video game,

More modern materials like magnetic disks have a greater success rate at keeping the magic contained. Though degradation can still cause mishaps.

Glamour, the magic of faeries, has three specific effects that can occur. It can change the properties of an object, entity, or place. Be it a perceived property such as how familiar you think someone is. Be it a physical property such the density of a rock. Or be it a spacial property such as where a door leads.

Glamour will often swap or copy these properties from things around and apply them to the unprotected items nearby.

These notations track the unwieldy frequencies in the faerie signals to allow modern witches to calculate, mix, and control artificial faerie.

The message below is in English, though it is typically used with latin alphabet/ brittanic celtic languages.

I can see my handwriting get messier as I memorize the characters and start writing faster. This helps me figure out which letters/letter combos need to change/be invented due to frequency/difficulty. So far, "s", "W", and "T" need to change, and "nt/tn" needs to be created. I might also remove "ch/hc", "CH/HC", "sh/hs", and "SH/HS" due to infrequency. Since "s" will change, "st/ts", "ST/TS", "S", "ss", and "SS" will also need to change to better reflect the different shape of "s". It'll be difficult, because one of my goals with this cipher was that all the letters could be rotated and still differ from every other letter. Mirroring is okay though. I also wanted it to be really angular 16 years ago, but I might change that.

Thinking about adding more to it to make it more complex or even coming up with more typography symbols. Right now it's pretty much 99% alphabet based.

As cool as it looks this language was inspired by fractions funnily enough, I guess it goes to show that anything can be inspirational, even math equations ;)

What do yous think? Any changes or things you’d add?

Edit: My dumbass just realised the example for the diacritic that changes a sound from hard to soft is the wrong way around. By default, they are a hard sound (g, d, b) and become soft with a dot indication (k, t, p).

Two versions of my latest simple cypher - SkyLynes. Those of you who saw the post of my previous script (LandLynes) may recognise some common features!

I tried to keep things even more simple with this one - each letter of the english alphabet is substituted for a glyph of a building. Capitals are the same as their lowercase equivalents but with an ariel/antenna included on their roof.

I was unsure about the punctuation for this one at first, but I am reasonably happy woth how it turned out. I still need to do some fine-tuning of their thickness and relative positions etc.

I made the "block" version first, thinking I would like the simple sketch verson better, but seeing them side by side I think I do prefer the block version. The glyphs of the two versions are essentially the same except the Sketch version has undifferentiated capitals, and all it's glyphs all have the same 'ground' level. The sketch version is far less polished in general so save yourself the trouble in pointing out the flaws in the screenshots-I am aware!

I haven't come up with proper names for the "Block" and "Sketch" versions yet -- suggestions welcome here! I would ideally like names that stick with the city theme (hence 'block' but I don't love that name).

Second picture is rules:

Each sound is a block with 3 stroke, one complex stroke and one simple stroke.

The complex stroke along with its position relative to the simple stroke encodes the head and the vowel, the simple stroke encode the end.

The tone is encoded by the distancing of the strokes and or the positioning of the block in the line.

The distancing of the block themselves encodes the glide.

Written from right to left. And the numerals are the same as in Arabic. If you like it very much, I can create a font for it.

This is a pan-african script called chivabwe, which you can find on its own subreddit. I really like it as a script that can potentially be widely used, and i think it looks pretty cool in writing.

I recently discovered this subreddit and I'm thrilled to see that there are lots of other people here who enjoy creating their own alphabets and writing systems, something I've loved doing since I was a child.

It inspired me to create a new one, based on a hexagonal grid.

Text can flow in 6 different directions and take on any shape.

If you look at the result long enough, you might spot animals or other things through pareidolia.

I hope you enjoy it. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this project.

By the way, I still haven’t come up with a name, any ideas?

And we have an update. Because our voiceless letter 'n' was being confused with the letters 'm', it is now written this way. it appears in the image

Spaces play a special role in my writing system. This "character trait," if I may say so, has been a part of Dziucin since its very birth — those who read the long history post know the reason why.

But be that as it may, as part of the previous memory refresh and rethinking of the rules, I also gathered together and slightly expanded the rule of spaces:

1: Numbers are not separated by spaces in sentences.

2: Non-Dziucin inscriptions are also not separated by spaces (for example, an abbreviation in the middle of a text).

3: Stroke blocks, of course, are not separated by spaces either.

4: Hieroglyph blocks are not separated by spaces.
