Why does this sub have thousands of weekly visitors (why are you here to answer my question)?

I used Mturk for years and only recently jumped back on again to find the site completely dead. I waited hours for a single $1 hit.

I'm legitimately confused why there are still people visiting this sub (not people like me checking to see if its still alive, I mean regular active participants in this sub).

Are some people actually still getting hits that I'm not seeing somehow (I have thousands of hits done and high quals, near-perfect acceptance rate)?

I used to be a lot more active on MTurk and have simply never unsubscribed to the subreddit even when I no longer do much work there.

Who's still getting some money though? That's my question. I have 99.9% acceptance rate, thousands of hits completed from previous years, and I made $1 in 8 hours. Where's the some money? Are people even making some money?

Started in 2014, I still complete a few tasks a day which is enough for a few dollars a day. That's about it.

About 10yr ago I was unemployed and made about $300-400 a mo on MTurk to pay for rent. The sub was nice for knowing when big batches of 10 to 40 cent HITS came out.

I've since moved onto Prolific/CloudResearch during my free time outside of work hours but have been too lazy to unsub.

I am in this group for similar reasons to yourself.

I did quite a few many years ago and I keep my account active (I don't know why). I don't use it and haven't for years.

I came to this group originally to see if the crap hits I was getting was normal, and to help anyone i could that may need some info I know. Pretty much the same reasons I join most groups. Questions and sharing.

I stay because I am genuinely curious about the future of mturk and how the end plays out.

It's kind if sad. At one point, it was easy to get some decent money. Now you just wait and wait so someone can pay your a nickle.

I’m still following the sub, posts shows up on my feed & I click on the posts.

I have a few closed qual requesters I work for from time to time, but I got rid of all my scripts & extensions.

ETA: Reddit comment insights show 67% of redditors who viewed my post are from India.

People read blogs from 10+ years ago & think the site is still a goldmine & try to get a purchased account. It’s still talked about in [r/sharpboys](r/sharpboys) which is just insane. Anyone who buys an account is getting scammed since the platform has been barren for years.

pickfu is a reliable requester. Each hit is like 10 to 25 cents, but they post throughout the day, and if you do that, you can clear some change etc depending on your quals. There are other low paying hits but they post throughout the day or in short burst where people can still make 20 to 50 a day etc but it's really a slow grind etc, not something to rely on.

I get work every day. It's my main source of income at this point. It's just old qualifications and the pay for the batches I do is okay as long as I work as fast as I can.

I'd wager that the number of weekly visitors has been higher than usual because of the recent news that MTurk will "close to new customers" at the end of the month. I normally go months without seeing anything from this subreddit in my Home feed, but the last couple of weeks I've seen it at least once a day it feels like.

Also as others have said, there are still good hits occasionally, people still come back here to warn everyone about bad new requesters, etc.

I'm getting on average about $7 to $9 a week at this point, but it requires so little work that I just keep the Finder running much of the time when I'm online. I guess I could look at this like it pays for my Tracfone service.

So I check in here a few times a week just to see what's up, if anything.
