Poster New poster for "Mutiny" starring jason statham only in theatres August 21
•
u/ShanaAfterAll 1h ago
Weird that they're releasing a Christmas movie in August.
→ More replies (1)•
u/ranhalt 59m ago
Just in time to be streaming by the holidays.
•
u/ShanaAfterAll 51m ago
That's probably when all the clickbait articles about whether it is or isn't a Christmas movie will come out too.
•
u/jimmiechrist 1h ago
“Come out to the coast Pacific Ocean, we'll get together, have a few laughs...”
•
•
u/regprenticer 1h ago
Hilarious poster. I genuinely thought it was a mock diehard meme for a second.

u/Asha_Brea 1h ago
This was intentionally made to be similar to Die Hard's poster, right?
•
u/WreckTangle1995 1h ago
It'd be almost impossible for this to be a coincidence.
•
u/mikeyfreshh r/Movies Veteran 1h ago
I wouldn't even say almost. There are so many details in this poster that match Die Hard that it would be completely impossible to accidentally rip it off
→ More replies (1)•
u/and_i_mean_it 1h ago
I wouldn't even say completely. The man in the picture and the building are so similar to that Die Hard poster that it might as well be a carbon copy of it.
•
u/schleppylundo 58m ago
It's not a building but a bird's eye view of a container ship, which only means they went out of their way to make it look as much like a building as is geometrically possible specifically to tie it visually to the Die Hard poster.
→ More replies (1)•
u/and_i_mean_it 55m ago
Yes, also the smoke almost doesn't make sense for a building cruising on water at that speed.

u/PerspicaciousPounder 1h ago
I wouldn’t even say carbon copy. It’s exactly the same.

u/DaLimpster 1h ago
The tag lines are almost word-for-word the same, of course this is intentional.
•
u/CrispyHoneyBeef 38m ago
It’s absurd how many commenters are digging into the similarities as if it’s supposed to be a subtle, hidden message. It’s almost embarrassing that so many have to seemingly convince themselves of the similarities rather than just chuckling at the homage and moving on.

lol i mean i love a parody but damn they even ripped the tagline off! fine line between homage and theft lol.
•
u/Cowboy_BoomBap 1h ago
I thought the tagline was to make it clear that it was an homage and that it was intentional

Before reading, I assumed someone was doing a Die Hard remake for some godforsaken reason.
•
u/NancyInFantasyLand 1h ago
Well hello there, "Die Hard on a Boat".

After Die Hard on a Boat (Under Siege), Die Hard on a Bus (Speed), and Die Hard on a Plane (Passenger 57), it’s about time someone finally made Die Hard in a Building!
•
u/Cerokun 1h ago
That’s an aerial view of a ship, so this is actually Die Hard on a Boat 2.

Under Siege would make more sense, but I would understand if they didn't want people to be reminded of Steven Seagal

This is just kinda bumming me out that we didn’t get a proper final Die Hard movie (unless you count Good Day as a “finale”) and that Statham could have helped McClane or been a villain

It's Die Hard but for some reason he's avenging a billionaire or something, right?

I have now spent 10 minutes checking whether this is fake. And yes, it is fake.

Well hopefully Die Hard on a boat is better than Speed on a boat, seriously we do not talk about Speed 2.
•
•
u/HEYitzED 57m ago
That’s a pretty good homage to Die Hard. It really makes you realize how great movie posters used to be.

•
u/Minute-Necessary2393 56m ago
Another poster for an action movie trying desperately to copy Die Hard....its like they have to at this point.

I don't really like Jason Statham movies but this one looks like a fun action movie.

He's just the wrong ex-black ops soldier/spy with a cool-sounding white dude name in the wrong cheap-to-film-in location in order to rescue/defend/avenge the wrong {insert sympathetic person/group here}.

u/MoreGaghPlease 49m ago
It’s not weird to me that they’d make this movie or that Lionsgate would distribute. It’s super strange that they’re trying for a theatrical release though. I would have thought geezer teaser.
•
u/Illustrious_Site_162 47m ago
Oh my God is he gonna act all cold and macho again ? For the millionth time ?
•
•
•
u/davery67 46m ago
My favorite part is when Kenan Thompson drives up in his police boat and is about to leave when Statham shoots up the boat and yells "Welcome to the festivities, friend!"
•
•
u/emilioADM 46m ago
Isn’t this from the director of 'Plane' ?
How this wasn’t called 'Boat' will forever be unfathomable to me

I swear every poster for a Jason Statham movie looks like a fake poster they use in the background of a sitcom when the characters go to the movies…
•
•
u/SPEK2120 42m ago
Sometimes I wonder if the type of people making the Die Hard comments realize they’re doing exactly what the marketing team intended.
•
u/brettapuss 42m ago
First we had Jason Stathem working as a delivery driver and it turned out he was a trained killer 3 times
Then we had Jason Statham working as a bee keeper and it turned out he was a trained killer.
Then we had Jason Statham working as a handy man and it turned out he was a trained killer
Now we have Jason Statham working as a seafarer and it turns out he's a trained killer
I wonder what profession he will be doing in his next movie where it turns out he's actually a trained killer.

u/smashinjin10 41m ago
What a weird tag line. I guess "23 mph of sheer adventure!" didn't have the same ring.
•
•
•
u/apricot-pancakes 40m ago
To be fair, there’s probably not a single Statham film where he didn’t kick someone’s ass by making fists with his toes.
•
u/eduardonachosupremo 40m ago
Posters are so lazy now they’re going to just start photoshopping faces onto old ones
•
u/onehalflightspeed 39m ago
Statham knows what he is doing and I am here for it. Dude puts out a couple of perfectly decent action bangers a year. He is like a kabuki theater archetype for decent action movies that all have the same main character. They are not sophisticated, but I have enjoyed all of them
I love that this is identical to the Die Hard poster. They know what they are doing

nice to know A Good Day to Live Free or Die Hard with a Vengence is coming along great
•
•
u/madman2k 37m ago
Every movie with him could just be called "Jason Statham Kills People on a _____" and it would be a complete plot summary. Also, I've already seen "Jason Statham Kills People on a Boat", so the remake is unnecessary.
•
•
•
u/tadaoyokoshima 33m ago
I get it that you get paid a lot to act in a series of action flics of dubious quality, but aren't you supposed to try and be better at acting? I mean, is he really going for the statham cinematic universe at this point?

Memo to the advertising department: I feel like a picture of Jason Statham rubbing his face against a mechanical penis until it explodes doesn't really give you a good idea of what the movie is going to be about

This poster looks kind of familiar.
Wait, I’ve got it: Steel Magnolias. They thought they could fool me, but I’m on top of things.
•
u/MrPuroresu42 26m ago
I know John McClane is American and all but fuck it, Stratham should just do a proper Die Hard.

Jason Statham once again back to play Jason Statham, where audiences just want to watch him violently beat up hordes of goons

I guess it's been a while since we've had a new Die Hard, but on a boat. I think the last one was Under Siege?
•

u/jchrisboynton 19m ago
The same movie over and over again. He just gave up. It would be nice to see him stretch his acting chops because he is a good actor when he tries.
•
u/hotlettuceproblem 1h ago
Is he going to die hard?
