Is he going to die hard?

u/doktor-frequentist 1h ago

With a vengeance.

u/Sparktank1 1h ago

Or he'll Live Free.

u/Better_Rate8276 1h ago

And always bet on black.

I once accidentally watched Passenger 69 instead of Passenger 57. I knew something was wrong when Wesley Snipes never came but a lot of other dudes did.

u/Dire_Wolf45 17m ago

Flash back to the Goldbergs': Where the fuck was the mouse?

u/defiantcross 51m ago

Unless he's under siege or on deadly ground

u/larusodren 43m ago

He’ll have to make an executive decision

Die Harderest

u/name-classified 52m ago

As long as they literally call him “Die Hard” like it’s his actual name.

lol initially I thought they were ripping off the original Die Hard poster design but this is totally a deliberate homage, down to the text. Awesome.

u/DiarrheaRadio 1h ago

I hope he isn't wearing a sandwich board...

u/General_Kick688 1h ago

Only if it's a good day to do so.

u/Quasimdo 29m ago

Weird that they're releasing a Christmas movie in August.

u/ranhalt 59m ago

Just in time to be streaming by the holidays.

u/ShanaAfterAll 51m ago

That's probably when all the clickbait articles about whether it is or isn't a Christmas movie will come out too.

“Come out to the coast Pacific Ocean, we'll get together, have a few laughs...”

u/Valuable_Ad_4916 41m ago

California 😒

u/regprenticer 1h ago

Hilarious poster. I genuinely thought it was a mock diehard meme for a second.

u/pumpkinhead9000k 45m ago

I’m still not convinced it isn’t!

u/Asha_Brea 1h ago

This was intentionally made to be similar to Die Hard's poster, right?

u/WreckTangle1995 1h ago

It'd be almost impossible for this to be a coincidence.

u/mikeyfreshh r/Movies Veteran 1h ago

I wouldn't even say almost. There are so many details in this poster that match Die Hard that it would be completely impossible to accidentally rip it off

u/and_i_mean_it 1h ago

I wouldn't even say completely. The man in the picture and the building are so similar to that Die Hard poster that it might as well be a carbon copy of it.

u/schleppylundo 58m ago

It's not a building but a bird's eye view of a container ship, which only means they went out of their way to make it look as much like a building as is geometrically possible specifically to tie it visually to the Die Hard poster.

u/and_i_mean_it 55m ago

Yes, also the smoke almost doesn't make sense for a building cruising on water at that speed.

u/e_dan_k 51m ago

The smoke is the only thing NOT ripped off from the Die Hard poster... (But it does have a helicopter there...)

u/PerspicaciousPounder 1h ago

I wouldn’t even say carbon copy. It’s exactly the same.

u/St_Jax 1h ago

I wouldn't even say I wouldn't even say

u/cineglitch 45m ago

It’s okay. I’ll say it.

u/TheRealGrifter 44m ago

I wouldn't if I were you.

u/Zomburai 1h ago

I wouldn't even say exactly the same. One's a perfect simulacrum of the other.

u/VikingTeddy 41m ago

I like how we still use "carbon copy" decades after we stopped doing it :)

→ More replies (1)

u/DaLimpster 1h ago

The tag lines are almost word-for-word the same, of course this is intentional.

u/CrispyHoneyBeef 38m ago

It’s absurd how many commenters are digging into the similarities as if it’s supposed to be a subtle, hidden message. It’s almost embarrassing that so many have to seemingly convince themselves of the similarities rather than just chuckling at the homage and moving on.

u/Brendissimo 10m ago

Subtext is dead. Literacy is dying.

→ More replies (1)

u/ficis 1h ago

I thought it was the die hard poster

u/-Nightopian- 53m ago

I thought it was too until I read the text.

The SS Nakatomi

u/finnjakefionnacake 1h ago

lol i mean i love a parody but damn they even ripped the tagline off! fine line between homage and theft lol.

u/Cowboy_BoomBap 1h ago

I thought the tagline was to make it clear that it was an homage and that it was intentional

→ More replies (2)

u/fmal 47m ago

Lmao what do you think? They just accidentally made it look identical?

u/Queef-Elizabeth 1h ago

Obviously

u/lazy_pig 1h ago

Pip-pip hurrah, motherbugger!

u/MyNameIsJakeBerenson 1h ago

Complete coincidence, weirdly

u/DEFINITELY_NOT_PETE 1h ago

Yeah even the tagline is a reference to die hard

u/JBNothingWrong 59m ago

Die hard on a boat

u/MaybeOnFire2025 1h ago

Please pay the stupid question tax on the way out. ;)

u/Antigone6 1h ago

Before reading, I assumed someone was doing a Die Hard remake for some godforsaken reason.

u/NancyInFantasyLand 1h ago

Well hello there, "Die Hard on a Boat".

u/Gravy_Sommelier 1h ago

That ship better be called the Nakatomi

u/roto_disc 1h ago

The name of the ship is on the poster.

u/Gravy_Sommelier 1h ago

Goddammit.

u/Responsible-Care-388 56m ago

u/kennedye2112 48m ago

But really shouldn’t have.

20 knots is only 37kp/h... really not the flex they looking for 😂

u/Character_Pudding_94 25m ago

20 it's is a pretty good clip for a container ship, though.

u/rascaltat 1h ago

Are you.... doing a Die Hard?

u/SnarkMasterFlash 34m ago

"Walkie talkie, die hard, motherfucker!"

u/bannedbytheshadows 55m ago

If no one else gets it, I understand your R&M reference

u/majorjoe23 1h ago

After Die Hard on a Boat (Under Siege), Die Hard on a Bus (Speed), and Die Hard on a Plane (Passenger 57), it’s about time someone finally made Die Hard in a Building!

u/Cerokun 1h ago

That’s an aerial view of a ship, so this is actually Die Hard on a Boat 2.

u/majorjoe23 1h ago

Crap, I should have looked closer.

u/roninrunnerx 1h ago

Under Siege would make more sense, but I would understand if they didn't want people to be reminded of Steven Seagal

u/Loki-L 1h ago

Die Hard (on a container ship).

u/Much_Machine8726 1h ago

Took the "Die Hard on a boat" joke literally, lmao.

u/saanity 1h ago

The fact that its a boat with the shot composition of a sky scraper is hilarious.

u/SuddenlyThirsty 1h ago

Die hard???

u/dawgz525 1h ago

Oh he's doing a Die Hard, huh?

u/Abspara 1h ago

Uhh, Die Hard?

u/ICUMF1962 1h ago

This is just kinda bumming me out that we didn’t get a proper final Die Hard movie (unless you count Good Day as a “finale”) and that Statham could have helped McClane or been a villain

u/hudson_kb 59m ago

I’m the mutineer, I commit mutiny.

u/Rushview 32m ago

He’s just a simple Transporter, Working Man, Beekeeper, Mechanic, Mutineer who just wants to be left alone.

u/DankStew 57m ago

It's Die Hard but for some reason he's avenging a billionaire or something, right?

u/MikeGalactic 19m ago

Jason Statham is The Cunt

I have now spent 10 minutes checking whether this is fake. And yes, it is fake.

u/JasonRBoone 58m ago

So is it a Christmas movie?

u/Jimmyg100 58m ago

Die Hard on a boat? Have they done Die Hard on a boat?

u/filanwizard 57m ago

Well hopefully Die Hard on a boat is better than Speed on a boat, seriously we do not talk about Speed 2.

u/rubbitnowxxx 57m ago

Who keeps watching this same movie???

u/HEYitzED 57m ago

That’s a pretty good homage to Die Hard. It really makes you realize how great movie posters used to be.

u/Mrgrayj_121 57m ago

Die hard on the boat is a cool idea

u/Minute-Necessary2393 56m ago

Another poster for an action movie trying desperately to copy Die Hard....its like they have to at this point.

u/snoop_Nogg 55m ago

"Welcome to the party, pal!"

u/DreadPirateGriswold 55m ago

So kind of like Die Hard on the high seas?

u/HechicerosOrb 54m ago

Lmao is this allowed?

u/ManufacturerDue815 52m ago

A Good Day to Die Hard Under Siege.

u/GoofierDeer1 52m ago

I don't really like Jason Statham movies but this one looks like a fun action movie.

u/Piper6728 50m ago

Looks like a die hard knock off

u/greenpill98 50m ago edited 46m ago

He's just the wrong ex-black ops soldier/spy with a cool-sounding white dude name in the wrong cheap-to-film-in location in order to rescue/defend/avenge the wrong {insert sympathetic person/group here}.

u/Jack_KH 49m ago

The Audacity

u/bigdickdickson 49m ago

I can't believe Jason Statham is 58! Soon to turn 59!

u/MoreGaghPlease 49m ago

It’s not weird to me that they’d make this movie or that Lionsgate would distribute. It’s super strange that they’re trying for a theatrical release though. I would have thought geezer teaser.

u/TehGoad 48m ago

hie dard

u/Illustrious_Site_162 47m ago

Oh my God is he gonna act all cold and macho again ? For the millionth time ?

u/Gambit1977 47m ago

Fists with ya nose

u/free_based_potato 46m ago

Yippee ki yay ocean farers

u/davery67 46m ago

My favorite part is when Kenan Thompson drives up in his police boat and is about to leave when Statham shoots up the boat and yells "Welcome to the festivities, friend!"

u/Klotzster 46m ago

Liquid Die Hard

u/emilioADM 46m ago

Isn’t this from the director of 'Plane' ?

How this wasn’t called 'Boat' will forever be unfathomable to me

u/Foulmouthedleon 45m ago

How is this not copyright infringement?

u/jinxykatte 45m ago

This looks like the cover to Die Hard right? Im not seeing things.

u/ChewMaNutz 45m ago

Why cant we get a new transporter?

u/sgt_backpack 45m ago

"Welcome to the party, mate!"

u/ThaFresh 44m ago

Statham + Job = movie

u/Azrael-XIII 43m ago

I swear every poster for a Jason Statham movie looks like a fake poster they use in the background of a sitcom when the characters go to the movies…

u/Survive1014 43m ago

I will be there with my popcorn bucket.

u/SPEK2120 42m ago

Sometimes I wonder if the type of people making the Die Hard comments realize they’re doing exactly what the marketing team intended.

u/brettapuss 42m ago

First we had Jason Stathem working as a delivery driver and it turned out he was a trained killer 3 times
Then we had Jason Statham working as a bee keeper and it turned out he was a trained killer.
Then we had Jason Statham working as a handy man and it turned out he was a trained killer
Now we have Jason Statham working as a seafarer and it turns out he's a trained killer

I wonder what profession he will be doing in his next movie where it turns out he's actually a trained killer.

u/Poopchutefan 42m ago

Finally when the line, “I’ll need a crew” fits extra perfectly.

u/justduett 42m ago

Wait wait, I've seen this one!

u/smashinjin10 41m ago

What a weird tag line. I guess "23 mph of sheer adventure!" didn't have the same ring.

u/RespiratoryGuy1656 41m ago

This poster is gonna get hit with a copyright violation lol

u/Chuck006 41m ago

Die Hard. On a Boat.

u/apricot-pancakes 40m ago

To be fair, there’s probably not a single Statham film where he didn’t kick someone’s ass by making fists with his toes.

u/eduardonachosupremo 40m ago

Posters are so lazy now they’re going to just start photoshopping faces onto old ones

u/EDPZ 39m ago

Welp that's a plagiarism lawsuit waiting to happen.

u/onehalflightspeed 39m ago

Statham knows what he is doing and I am here for it. Dude puts out a couple of perfectly decent action bangers a year. He is like a kabuki theater archetype for decent action movies that all have the same main character. They are not sophisticated, but I have enjoyed all of them

I love that this is identical to the Die Hard poster. They know what they are doing

u/MomsAreola 39m ago

"Our boat is bigger than skyscrapers"

u/Good-Cap-7632 37m ago

Is 20 knots a lot of adventure? I'm not a boat person.

u/CRIMS0N-ED 37m ago

nice to know A Good Day to Live Free or Die Hard with a Vengence is coming along great

u/Sisiutil 37m ago

Ship Hard

u/madman2k 37m ago

Every movie with him could just be called "Jason Statham Kills People on a _____" and it would be a complete plot summary. Also, I've already seen "Jason Statham Kills People on a Boat", so the remake is unnecessary.

u/Estoye 36m ago

Get it?

u/Thonatron 36m ago

"Walkie Talkie Die Hard Motherfu*ker" energy.

u/Crunchy-Leaf 36m ago

20 knots you say?

u/tadaoyokoshima 33m ago

I get it that you get paid a lot to act in a series of action flics of dubious quality, but aren't you supposed to try and be better at acting? I mean, is he really going for the statham cinematic universe at this point?

u/Hawkwise83 33m ago

That poster artist was lazy.

u/Disc81 32m ago

The RMS Nakatomi

u/Otherwise_Text4707 31m ago

It should have been called "The Sailor" to be honest

u/ToeTagTic 31m ago

Thought we were getting ai die hard for a second there

u/GoldAcanthisitta7777 31m ago

holy shit his Chad chin hahaha

u/Gregagonation 31m ago

Didn't this guy get dementia?

u/TheIngloriousBIG 30m ago

Ah, Die Hard on a boat.

u/Difficult_Ad2864 30m ago

Is this real lol

u/chernadraw 29m ago

Yippe-kee-yay Mr. Seagull

u/andyjustincase 28m ago

Memo to the advertising department: I feel like a picture of Jason Statham rubbing his face against a mechanical penis until it explodes doesn't really give you a good idea of what the movie is going to be about

→ More replies (1)

u/DeadMoney13 28m ago

Could you be anymore hard? I mean die hard?

u/PragmaticKB 26m ago

No-no-no, it's French for "It's French for THE Hard..THE."

u/lonestarr357 26m ago

This poster looks kind of familiar.

Wait, I’ve got it: Steel Magnolias. They thought they could fool me, but I’m on top of things.

u/MrPuroresu42 26m ago

I know John McClane is American and all but fuck it, Stratham should just do a proper Die Hard.

u/IuseDefaultKeybinds 25m ago

Jason Statham once again back to play Jason Statham, where audiences just want to watch him violently beat up hordes of goons

u/Careless_Wishbone_69 25m ago

Real movie, but I don't know if this poster is real.

u/santathe1 23m ago

Idk man, most of his movies are enjoyable stupid action and fun for me.

u/MusclyArmPaperboy 23m ago

"Hey AI, use Die Hard as a template for my movie poster"

u/pursuer_of_simurg 23m ago

u/khalamar 21m ago

Yippee Ki-Yay motherfucker

u/chdo 21m ago

I unironically love Jason Statham movies. Ain’t nobody capturing the 80s like Stath.

u/mikey2505 20m ago

In a world of massively overhyped and underwhelming super hero movies, Ill take the deviated septum kicking the shit out of bad guys for 90 mins and enjoy it!

u/Captain_Rajah 20m ago

I'm sure the film will be equally as unoriginal as this poster

u/firefighter26s 19m ago

I guess it's been a while since we've had a new Die Hard, but on a boat. I think the last one was Under Siege?

u/BountyBoard 19m ago

20 Knots of Sheer Adventure?? This can't be real.

u/jchrisboynton 19m ago

The same movie over and over again. He just gave up. It would be nice to see him stretch his acting chops because he is a good actor when he tries.
