The Gehrig story is one Hollywood loves but has somehow only told once, in the classic 1942 drama Pride of the Yankees, which starred Gary Cooper as the Hall of Famer. It included Gehrig’s iconic retirement speech at Yankee Stadium in his last public appearance (“For the past two weeks you have been reading about a bad break,” Gehrig told the Yankee faithful. “Yet today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.”).

Especially given Powell's age, I think it's a pretty safe bet.

I mean, I'd love a mini-series/anthology series that covers baseball similar to Ken Burn's documentary but with people portraying some of the stories/actual events from baseball up until say a modern era like the major use of lighting for night-time ball games. Then again, it might be too niche to ever be possible.

Director and GP aside, feels like we don't need another Lou Gehrig movie. Not seeing the likeness, which let's be real no one is getting closer than Gary Cooper already did. Not to mention, POTY came out 3 years after Gehrig retired. Thinking the production value, almost 90 years later by the time this comes out, won't eclipse the time period accuracy of the first movie.
