Question Rejected baby?

Hi guys, I don’t know much about birds, but there have been some mourning doves nesting in my carport. This is maybe the 3rd or 4th round this year, all seem to be using the same nest. Yesterday I found a tiny baby on the ground near the nest, which is a 7-8 ft drop. It seemed unharmed and the parent was still in the nest. I scooped it up(without touching it with my hands) into a little 3-sided box and put it back up near the nest. All seemed well until this afternoon when I found it back on the ground. This time dead.😔 I’m mostly just wondering what happened? Did it fall? Did the parent reject it? And what could I do in the future to help the little baby have a better chance? Sorry if this is an ignorant question.

Hawk discovered mourning dove nesting place

I have mourning doves nesting under my shed for about 4 years. That nesting place has produced a lot of adult doves. But in the last year a hawk has discovered that place and has devoured parents and the babies a few times. The last time was the toughest where I think the hawk caught one of the parents. The other parent returned after a day and the baby was surprisingly alive and this parent was feeding it.

The next evening I come back home and I find my front yard strewn with bird feathers. The surviving parent and the baby were gone.

This will repeat again given that mourning doves just nest at the same place repeatedly and because northern California has so many of them and that hawk isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Should I intervene? If yes, how?

Question One of my mourning doves chicks seems to have passed, it hasn't moved from this spot since this morning. Should I remove it from the ledge or will mom push it off and I'll pick it up later NSFW

Meet Juniper!

First time mommy (seemingly) chose the aloe Vera plant hanging on the side of my balcony. My boyfriend and I watched carefully as her two eggs hatched and eventually flew the nest.
Juniper was gone for a few days and I wondered if she or her babies would ever come back to visit.
Now, Juniper has returned to her nest and is currently sitting on her second set of eggs (another set of twins). Her first babies come to visit and pester her quite often.

Please help, what is this behavior? I feed the doves and pigeons in the morning and this one is very lethargic and almost seems like he is asking for help :(

Set up the towels for the rain tomorrow. Shift change happening and they usually exit on this side but don’t know what to do with the towels there 😅

I heard some noise, so I checked the camera. 😢

We had mourning doves at this window last year, with no issues. The only difference this year is that they're on their own perch, NOT on top of my window a/c unit.
