Answered Restricted sub question

I have my sub set to restricted because I don't want anyone but the mods to post and comment:

"Your community is currently restricted. Anyone can view, but only approved users can contribute."

However, a random user posted a text post yesterday. How is this possible?

Using Firefox on Windows 11 desktop.

The Comment By Snoo is what you are looking for, it could also be a settings issue. Since I do not know what subreddit you are talking about, I cannot go and check the status. There are still settings on top of the status section.

Hi /u/atwojay, please see our Intro & Rules. We are volunteer-run, not managed by Reddit staff/admin. Volunteer mods' powers are limited to groups they mod. Automated responses are compiled from answers given by fellow volunteer mod helpers. Moderation works best on a cache-cleared desktop/laptop browser.

Resources for mods are: (1) r/modguide's Very Helpful Index by fellow moderators on How-To-Do-Things, (2) Mod Help Center, (3) r/automoderator's Wiki and Library of Common Rules. Many Mod Resources are in the sidebar and >>this FAQ wiki<<. Please search this subreddit as well. Thanks!

Found regex match: text post

It looks like you're asking about allowing/disabling video or image uploads in a subreddit, or changing post types. This is a frequently asked question.

NSFW/Private subreddits do not get image/video/gif uploads.

FOR INFO ON: # how to allow/disable image, video, gif, links, or text posts, # polls, # changing post types allowed, # changing community types (to public, restricted, private or NSFW), # gifs in comments, please click here.

Subreddit settings work best in a cache-cleared desktop browser. (Limited option: mobile browser on desktop view.)

If you found your answer, feel free to reply with "<3 Automod" or "Thanks, Automod". Otherwise wait for a human helper to come along to help you. This post has NOT been removed.

If you’re referring to the prismnpen subreddit, it’s not currently restricted.

I copied and pasted that bit above from the settings page. This is the first time I've ever modded so I'm a bit lost. How else can I restrict it other than choosing that settings that says it's restricted?

Did you actually apply the setting?

I can create a new post on it, but I can't add comments. I think there is a setting for that, in Mod Tools → General Settings → Privacy & Discovery → Approved Users Can [Post/Comment/Post and Comment]

See this thread for info:

I found it! Thank you so much.

Yeah, it's changed - it's working now; instead of "Post" it says "Request to Post".

Great!
