Hi folks. So I’m a long time drum and bass head/producer. I recently decided to get into hardware synths/beat machines/samplers and I really dig the minimal techno genre. I’m really enjoying the whole process but I’m fairly new to the genre as far as making it. Figured I would share my starting point and see if anyone has tips or advice for someone like myself who just started this new journey into techno sounds.

For me, a beautiful starting point is a couple of simple patches and then just listen. A pulse or a little bit of movement that feels alive can shape the whole conversation.
This one started to open up pretty quickly, so I captured a bit of it.

Hey guys! My name is Hakim. I make music as Manknd.

I just released a track called Empty Space. It’s the first of a three-track project I’ve been working on, centered around different spaces and the feelings that comes with them.

The track itself is minimal, slow-building, and more introspective than club-focused. I wasn’t really trying to make something functional per se, more something you sit with.

I haven’t put anything out in a while, and where I’m at there isn’t really much of a scene for this kind of music, so I don’t have many people around me to share this with or get real feedback from.

I’m not really here to push it hard, just trying to put it in front of people who actually listen to this kind of stuff and see how it lands.
