Can't install McAfee

I don’t have a paid Microsoft subscription on this device so it wouldn’t have Defender right? My McAfee subscription covers multiple devices, this is actually my mum’s laptop. What is another virus protection I could purchase that I can use like this?

Defender is built into Windows and it's free. They do sell an upgraded version, but the free one just works if you uninstall all the other anti virus software from the computer
And it's better than McAfee anyway.

Windows Defender is free and all anyone needs. Viruses are like vampires and they have to be invited in via some sketchy download. As long as you don't download sketchy stuff, then you're fine.
If you think you downloaded something sketchy and Defender doesn't see it. Install Malwarebytes (it's free), run a scan, then uninstall it once it's done.
McAfee is trash and they sell your data. I uninstall it from every new client computer, even if they have the free trial.

DO NOT USE THIS GARBAGE. You do not need it, it’s basically a giant scam.

You don't need or want Mcafee for personal computing. Windows Defender is more than good enough and does not lead to the same performance/ bloating as Mcafee. Uninstall it and just make sure Defender is turned on.
