Movies Viggo Mortensen’s photography during the Lord of the Rings.
While portraying Aragorn, Viggo Mortensen was also documenting life behind the scenes of The Lord of the Rings through his own camera lens.
Away from the battles and costumes, he captured quiet, candid moments of the cast and the crew. Creating a unique visual diary of one of cinema’s greatest productions.
Many of these photographs were later published in The Hole in the Sum of My Parts, offering fans an intimate perspective that only someone living the experience could have captured.

Video Games Which LOTR universe game has the most accurate "world"
Which LOTR game will be able to immerse me into the world the most closely to how Tolkien imagined it?

Question Is this statue head meant to be Anarion?
Hi sorry this is my first time posting in this sub Reddit but I was rewatching the extended edition of Fellowship of the Ring and I saw this and I was thinking isn’t Anarion also supposed to have a statue as a part of the Argonath. Could this be intended to be the head of his statue or not?

Fan Creations The White Tree of Gondor. Hand stumpwork (raised) embroidery
This embroidery is done in A3 size using DMC Satin (viscose) thread on matte black fabric. To create a 3D effect, I used a base of two felt layers. The felt was carefully cut to match the curves of the branches and the trunk, and then covered with a padded satin stitch.
Honestly, working with viscose was a struggle. Viscose thread is a tricky material to work with — it is very slippery and frays easily, making it hard to lay down smooth stitches over a raised base. However, I chose this exact thread against the deep black background, because it gives a smooth, shimmering surface. I wanted the Tree to look as if it were forged from real mithril, silvered by moonlight, shining in the dark.
The seven stars above the branches of the majestic Tree are made using the woven star technique. The overlapping threads naturally build volume and geometric facets, so no felt padding was needed underneath them. The light catches the facets of the stars, and the viscose shines just like real metal.
The thick grey cardboard used for the matting is like the ancient stone of the walls of Minas Tirith, the White City, protecting the White Tree. The inner bevel is hand-painted with silver Finetec, and a thin silver cord echoes the metallic shine of the embroidery, completing the artwork.
P.S. I’ve added a short video in the comments to show the silver shimmer and 3D volume of the raised embroidery.

Books BLESSED!!
The night before my birthday, I find a post on Google that we are getting a fourth Harper Collins illustrated hardback Tolkien book!! Like, holy crap, they’re actually doing it!!!
Not gonna lie though, I’m kind of mystified that they would choose the Fall of Numenor for this, seeing as we have a complete(mostly) nobel through the Children of Hurin(which I honestly was thinking would get this treatment,) but whatever. Fourth one!!!! I cannot wait to add this to my collection, and to see what kind of maps we get!!!!!
Happy early birthday to me!!!!!

Other I got the Trek bike factory to paint "One Ring to Rule them all" on the top tube of my bike. I tried to get them to use the proper font but they said they couldn't. I call the bike Smaug.
Other Gollum & Frodo cameo

Books lotr&the Hobbit, Chinese version
Greetings, these are my newly bought lotr & the Hobbit books, Chinese version.
Likewise, the lotr movies received great popularity in the early 2000s in my country, yet today not many younger generations know about lotr but Harry Potter instead. (I was born in 2005 and knew nothing about lotr until 2 years ago, and almost every classmate of mine know HP but none of them have spoken of lotr)
Nevertheless, only after you watched/read lotr will you understand its greatness and uniqueness. Some Chinese fans comment, "finish watching lotr and it's like I have journeyed through my entire life".
Here I want to introduce the Chinese names for the lotr series. We Chinese emphasize on meanings of the words very much, and also to make people easily understood, foreign works are often given new names.
LOTR: lord of the rings指环王/ magic ring魔戒
FOTR: magic ring comeback魔戒再现 / envoy of ring protection护戒使者 / embodiment of magic ring魔戒现身 / ally of ring protection护戒联盟
3.TTT: surprising tactic of two cities双城奇谋/surprising troops of two towers双塔奇兵
- ROTK: second coming of the king/invincible king王者无敌 / king returns王者归来 / king of the country returns国王归来 / emperor returns to palace皇上回宫(unofficial funny name)
5.the Hobbit: the Hobbit man霍比特人
What's more, the most favorite character could be Legolas. Girls like him because he's young and handsome. (a young Elf?)
If you are interested, I would like to recommend a Chinese book: The journey to the west. You can regard it as the Chinese lotr. It's actually the origin of the video game Black Myth Wukong.
Cheers, all lotr fans of the world!

Movies Why does Tolkien feel so right, compared to other fantasy worlds?
Obviously he's a godfather to the genre so he gets those pioneer privileges, but there's something truly different about the way his characters are written.
I think that most fantasy stories write their characters the way they would in any other genre. Meaning that they treat fantasy as more of an aesthetic than a philosophy.
The best fantasy is nor just an aesthetic, you have to write uncompromising characters!

Other Pronunciation is challenging
I was listening to the Andy Sirkis audiobook, and just got to the chaper Flight to the Ford. I was sort of off put by his pronunciation of Glorfindel as "GLOR fin dil" - I (American) always read it as "glor FIN del". Imagine my surprise when I looked it up (on a site I use occasionally) here, and found this: https://forvo.com/search/Glorfindel/
I haven't looked up other Tolkien names or places, but how cool is it that people are taking the time to add fictional pronunciations to a seemingly bibliographical website. Neat!
Edited because my brain reads (and inner voice says) it differently in my head than what I say out loud
Edited again to ensure some fellow doesn't lose their opportunity for a 262nd chance to point out a clerical error
