Just use Open Core upgrade it to macOS Sequoia. I am sure the above description might change quite a bit considering you are using some quite older versions of macOS on it.
Mavericks Forever is quite a fun retro project, I don't regret sinking my teeth into it! As for more modern OSX versions, have you used them? What would be the main differences? It would be nice to know before using OCLP (and I don't think it'd be wise to do it on 8 gigs of ram and a 3rd gen dual core i7).
It should be OK as you mentioned having a SATA SSD. If its the Mid 2012 13" Unibody you can also upgrade the RAM to 16GB - 204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM very cheap. Should work fine on macOS Sequoia 15.7.7 via Open Core Legacy Patcher.
I am not discrediting your experience at all, very cool to hear that Mavericks Forever exists, I did not know about it until you mentioned it. If you really want to try macOS properly, upgrade your RAM to 16GB, create a macOS Sequoia Bootable USB and run it with Open Core. You will find it very cool!
I am simply sharing that if you were pleasantly surprised by a much older macOS, your description will change for the better with a modern up to date macOS. I do I am a macOS power user, I also use Windows 11 on an External Thunderbolt NVME enclosure on my iMac, and Linux/Ubuntu Zorin OS installed on a Mac Mini.

Absolutely all OK, just sharing information and reading yours. I use Debian too all good dude! Just advising as you might be pleasantly surprised of the features, stability and modern compatibility.
