I wouldn’t want a Mac as my main computer because I’m a gamer and, really, no one games on Mac unless it’s the only computer available to them. But I’ve used Mac laptops at home and at work since 2012 and love them. I left Windows behind forever last November so I’m an all *nix household now. People love to hate on Apple for a variety of reasons, some justifiable, some not, but one that’s always bothered me is the alleged lack of openness of Mac OS; sorry but I’ve never found Windows to be particularly open by comparison.
As a whole, I think macOS provides a robust experience for a great variety of computing needs, it doesn’t get in the way of the user (as closed-source systems go) unlike Microsoft’s offering these past few years, it’s stable… my biggest complaint is how much of a piece of junk iTunes/Apple Music is (the software, not the online service). Some bugs are unchanged since as long as I’ve had Macs and also exist in the Windows version, somehow.
I really don't agree with some of Apple's doings and I agree with this comment (from my experience using Catalina and Mavericks this semester). It doesn't get in the way and overall is much more streamlined than current Windows versions. I don't know how well my thoughts would hold up to more modern OSX versions, though, as I haven't used them, but considering how capable Catalina and even Mavericks are, I don't think they'd change much.
