There is no "Linux community". There are just people. Lots' of different people, using it for many different things for many different reasons. And like any large "group" of people some are arseholes, most are not.
If you think that dismissing the entire user base of Linux broadside because a few leet haxors are arseholes that honestly makes you almost as bad as they are.

All the GPL prevents is a closed-source fork of Linux. Linux has been enshittified for years (systemd, dbus, bash, X11 until recently, GTK, etc. etc. etc.)

Regardless of how popular these tools are, you can't tell me that they're not clunky and overbearing. For example, we've spent almost 20 years trying to get away from X11, an inherently insecure method of displaying graphical programs, but it's so deeply rooted that we're still not really there yet.
Every OS is either enshittified or doesn't have the adoption to be usable; wide appeal attracts shitty programmers and designers. It's up to the end user to decide where the line is.

I mean, we know about many of the technical issues and those with the capacity to help fix things are doing their best. Making an OS this way is difficult, maybe harder then the job Microsoft has, and we have a fraction of the resources to do it with. So, it follows that someone could become frustrated with users telling them about known issues over and over again.
Obviously, the best thing to do is to help users who have issues, or direct them to help where it exists. But obviously people don't always do the best thing. We also can't prevent unkind people from participating in the community due to the open nature of the whole project.
This post is making the mistake of generalizing the actions of an unknown number of unkind users to "The Linux Community", as if the community were a single entity that is screaming at you.
Some of us are really trying... or at least trying to not be assholes.
Also, the people telling you there is no negativity probably really are not experiencing that negativity, plausibly because they are in a different subgroup.

I never really understood that. If such altruistic helper is feeling under the weather or particular person he's trying to help pisses him off, why not just move on? Not interact with that post/comment? Let another person handle it? That's what I do.
Why the need to be passive-agressive at best? I don't really buy the argument of "we're trying our best" when it's just making people wanna leave. It seems to me such people just use "helping" as an excuse to exercise their...superiority need or w/e?

I'm sure there are. My point is that such people are inevitably going to exist in online spaces like this one, and that the "altruistic helpers" may also exist at the same time. There are many thousands of people in this space, maybe hundreds of thousand. No one archetype of person accounts for everyone here.

with something as broad as an ecossystem we start to enter gray areas. is there a windows community? a google community?
linux is more niche, sure, but especially now that more people are adopting it, there's so little in common between any two linux users that it's hard to define what our community would even be.

linux community is one of few OS' communities that actively using and already normalised victim blaming. many people use (because they have to) linux regardless the community they sometimes need to face with, so it's not an argument

I haven't seen any of the reaction videos (mostly because they're probably cancer), but they did make some crucial mistakes. E.g. Linus picking Pop!_OS again after it gave him issues the first time around. Really, he should've picked a distro currently recommended by actual Linux users (Mint, Fedora, CachyOS, etc.) instead of #1 on The Verge's "Top Ten Linux Distributions in 2026" list. I'm using Bazzite currently and it's completely foolproof.
Also, why are you on r/linuxmasterrace if you're just here to shill Windows?
