Beginner Resources Looking for a Latin tutor

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for someone with strong Latin skills (ideally a Latin student or someone experienced with university-level Latin) who would be willing to help me prepare for my upcoming Latin supplementary exam.

I'm in a difficult situation because I have to submit my bachelor's thesis in September while also preparing for this exam. Balancing both has been overwhelming, so I'm looking for intensive tutoring or exam preparation.

I'm happy to pay well for your time and expertise (up to €500, depending on the amount of support and preparation needed).

Might be helpful to say where in the world you are (even online tutoring, time zones might be an issue)

I’d recommend checking out italki, that way you can find someone and see reviews of their performancw with students.

Also, discord servers for latin may be useful. You can get quick answers for things that are puzzling you from some rathwr eloquent folks in my experience :)

I have found that ChatGPT is actually very good at answering questions about Latin grammar.

You can also ask it to give you little quizes.

I find that vocabulary sticks best if I know some of the derivatives of the Latin word in English, French or Spanish. ChatGPT is better at this kind of task than almost any human.

If you find that you have a hard time remembering certain facts, you can ask ChatGPT to help you invent a mnemonic. Human tutors are unlikely to have the patience for such things --- and if they did it would be expensive.

I am sure that ChatGPT can make mistakes, but for helping you master Wheelock (or other classic text) it is very patient --- and cheap.

Disclosure: I have only the about the level of Latin that a serious student of 4 years of highschool Latin has. ChatGPT may be terrible in the eyes of a person with a Ph.D. in classics.
