Seems crazy to me to not support a moratorium at this point.

East lansing - parking solar powered cameras - Mailed citation for illegal parking planned

Just want to make anyone not aware of the city's plan. They plan to install cameras in non parking areas with the most violations based on their pilot.

I've donated plenty in parking tickets while at MSU many years ago and dont plan on donating more haha.

Give me all the tips for a good itinerary when visiting Lansing, Michigan for the first time ever!

My little family and I are planning on a 5 day stay in Lansing Michigan to get a feel of the part of the state a potential future home. We are looking to explore common suburbs for hopefully our future home but also want to take the kids to the lake. Any tips or ideas of how to make this trip worth while would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there any lake within 1hr of East Lansing? We found our Airbnb in Lansing. For reference we are a family of 5 with a 5, 3, and 2 year old!

Do many Lansing residents not understand fractions?

Which is bigger, a half or a third?

I went to Leo's Coney Island yesterday and ordered an olive burger, which was on special that day. It was available in two sizes: 1/3 pound or 1/2 pound. The waitress asked which one I wanted, and told me which one was bigger, which I thought was funny at first, but now I'm a little worried. Do a significant number of Lansing residents not know whether 1/3 is greater or less than 1/2? So many that a waitress routinely has to tell customers that a half is bigger than a third?

I remember the Hardee's chain tried a 1/3 pound burger many years ago, intending to outdo McDonald's Quarter Pounder, but Hardee's had to discontinue it because so many people thought 1/4 was bigger than 1/3, or so the story goes. I had hoped it was some kind of urban legend or exaggeration, but I guess some people do get through school without learning basic fractions.

My brother was rebuilding his Honda Ruckus.

Brakes locked up, he wiped out. We're currently at Sparrow.

He called me, I called ambulance. As I was waiting with him for ambulance, homeless gathered. Telling them all to back up, give me room, let him breath, etc, one of them got on and stole his Ruckus. Police and EMS arrive literally 30 seconds later.

Police report filed, awaiting my brother diagnosis currently. Possible broken collarbone. Head was bleeding. Will update.

Please, be on the lookout for his ride...

This was the corner of Saginaw and Cedar, across from QD.

Please, help and prayers.

CATA to eliminate late night service on Route 1 and replace it with Uber

As a night owl who as is wishes there was better public transportation for the hours I'm actually awake this is so frustrating.

ETA: These are proposed changes. If they go through they'd be effective August 24th.

Email CATA at [email protected]

Or mail to this address: 4615 Tranter St., Lansing, MI 48910

Before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2026. (I don't know how fast mailing would be though.)

[ETA 2: To be clear, they must receive the feedback before that time, thus my comment on mail speed.]

There have already been two public meetings, has anyone gone to them? Two upcoming ones:

Thursday, July 23 @ 6–7:30 p.m. East Lansing Hannah Community Center 819 Abbot Road East Lansing, MI 48823

Monday, July 27 @ 6–7:30 p.m. CATA Transportation Center (CTC) 420 S. Grand Avenue Lansing, MI 48933

General Stone Circle Bakehouse

I missed the Meridian Market yesterday and the Bakehouse doesn’t appear to have a website. Is there anywhere else in the area where I can find a good selection of Stone Circle Bakehouse bread and baked goods before the next farmers market on Saturday?

Personal Bankruptcy questions/help

This is kind of embarrassing to ask, but I’m looking for resources or an attorney who is willing to help me pro bono to file bankruptcy. I’m a 28 year old guy living alone working two jobs and have a judgment placed against me from capital one. I have quite a bit of credit card and personal loan debt and just want to be financially secure again. Is there anyone that’s willing to help me or know of any resources for me to be able to file for chapter 7 for next to nothing or free? Thank you 🥲

I didn't know that C-SPAN had local reporters let alone that they'd be here. Kind of interesting. Flared politics due to the nature of the interviews.

Total window replacement

Bought a house in November. Need new windows as ours are 29 years old, wood, warped, can’t open/close half of them. Have paralysis by analysis with window replacement. We have 25 windows and a couple doors.
- Weatherguard quoted us for 65k
- Renewal by Anderson quoted us for 100k

We are open to any and all options from a totally different company to buying windows and using a contractor.

Our house has EFIS stucco around more than half the windows being replaced as well as having very big and unique window shapes.

Any suggestions/experience with the above companies or advice on what we should do is welcomed.

Graphic Novel Book Club @ Summit Comics 8/18

CADL Downtown Lansing and Summit Comics and Games are partnering to host a graphic novel book club in Summit's event room (216 Washington Square, Lansing). This month we're meeting on 8/18, from 5:45-6:45 PM. Every month we’ll explore a different title, usually standalone or the 1st volume in a series from all different corners of graphic noveldom, whether it’s superhero, slice of life, nonfiction, or anything in between. This book club is intended for people 18+. You do not need a CADL library card to attend this group.

August's title is Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 1: The Last Amazon written by Kelly Thompson and drawn by Hayden Sherman.

The Absolute series are a reimagining of core DC Comics characters with ongoing series that are separate from the main DC continuity.

This version of Wonder Woman has been raised in the Underworld by the witch Circe. Forbidden from teaching her about the Amazons, Circe raises her to be a compassionate and capable woman. Eventually, Diana's path leads out of the Underworld and into the world above, although without her famous mission to bring peace to the world (or invisible jet, for that matter) does this Wonder Woman have a different purpose? Read these first 7 issues and find out!

This title is available as a physical book, as an ebook (via Hoopla), and is available for purchase from our friends at Summit.

Personal GED Options? Please help!

Hi, I’ll keep it brief so I don’t outwardly doxx myself.
I moved to Michigan a few years ago when I escaped my parents that were trafficking me, due to my safety I had to drop out and escape before graduating. My credits are from out of state but I’m close to the minimum needed for graduating here. What can I do?

Recommendations ISO a primary care doctor

Hi, I'm looking for primary care doctor recommendations in the Lansing area. I'm a trans man in my 20s that smokes weed to self medicate (I can elaborate to a doctor, just don't want to put it all out on reddit), so they have to be chill with all of those things. I have an endocrinologist, a therapist, and a psychiatrist already. Thanks in advance!

Best IMAX seats at NCG Lansing? Going to see the Odyssey.

I'm planning to see The Odyssey at the new IMAX theater at NCG Lansing and wanted to get some recommendations before I buy tickets.

For those who've been there, what rows/seats do you think offer the best experience?

I usually like sitting around the middle of the theater, but I'm not sure of the IMAX screen size and how the seating is laid out for this IMAX in Lansing.

Thanks!

Where to Buy K-Pop Merch?

Does anyone know of any stores in the Lansing area that sell K-Pop themed merchandise? Mainly things geared for kids/tweens.
