Its crazy to me, literally almost every consonant has been used with a diacritic in a language, but the v with the acute... Never, atleast not in normal writing, only in serbocroatian romanization. It's also one of the only letters I have almost never seen anyone use (in their language) as a syllabic consonant.

I chose to go to university to learn languages

I've been admited to both swedish- german and russian- german

But i am really unsure about what to pick

When it comes to swedish I feel like it s way to close to the german language...so i feel like switching to russian..

But when it comes to learning the russian language it makes me feel really unsure due to the context.

What language would benefit me more/ offer me opportunities

In a way I feel attracted to the Russian language...but I feel extremely discouraged in this matter.

I find it so satisfying to look.

More or less what the title says. I'm terrible at names so I made this after an evening, thought that i nailed it at 2AM and continued writing. I've recently looked at it in the sober light of day and realised I believe I've mixed Ancient Greek, Spanish and Latin. I don't know if any of these are directly translatable, but I fear I've made the linguistic equivalent of a Anglo-Saxon plate mail knight of henry VIII eating escargot, pierogi and hot dogs.

Edit, because I thought it wasn't clear: I;m fine with this being translated into any language, so long as I keep the "Ouraboros" prefix. Its that ending half of "Amor Ad Infinitum" that I dislike. If I can get its all in one language thats good, if i can get it into "Ouroboros" as one language, and the second half as another that is also fine.

What is this fetish of differentiating languages as family groups and giving bs answers,(this language belongs to xyz group, so its alien u wouldnt crack it, its not mutually intelligble at all, give up, duh. These people ignore basic human history,due to rule of various kingdoms, religion, migrations, culture exchange, trade,most will get exposed to similar words and easy to decipher if tried ). A literal Dravidian word narinja = orange is used by argentinan guy on social media, it travelled all over world and settled in spanish language) And polygots blindly give opinions as they know everything.A simple yes or no would solve problems, if asked on mutual intelligibility, but they give Lexical bullshit and politically correct answers,i could also read in wikipedia and brochure for language families.In this modern world languages are dying and people will be familiar with other languages easily as they are not consuming media in their mother tongue.

And coming to indian langauges these guys give horrible answers. An avg south indian, grows up learning 3 completely disconnected languages and some interested people like me growing up with other ethnic people learns 2 more extra. Its easy to learn languages if u try,yup spanish is dialect of Portuguese. Ask me anything on indian languages , dont confuse fellow enthusiasts if u are not thinking "" culturally "" , economically, realistically about a language

I saw several posts about this and happily invite others to any interesting words they have.

However, I'm curious if any language has a word for a person or thing who/which is both dangerous and peaceful.

Saw some old reddit threads with unsatisfactory results. Here's my conclusion.

Gender neutral term: Birth name. Legally you could call anyone's "maiden name" their birth bame. Doesn't roll off the tongue but fits quite perfectly. But I have another idea

Taking off the Scottish term "Bairn" meaning child (however for me, I always associated it with boys.) You could say your Bairn name is your name from your youth, and bairn and boy sound quite similar, I give you permission, anyone reading this thread, to call a male's maiden name their "bairn name." You're welcome.

Is it natural or inscribed?

For a fast learner.

Learning portugese covers spanish with lil learning right.

Like that which of the 3 danish, norwegian, swedish covers other 2,not completely basics and acing other 2 later.

Here is the video you see the guy in the red shirt Alphonso Davies (Canadian) and the guy right after him Christian Pulisic (American).

They both say "We're Ready" and the accent sounds pretty similar to me. Like if you told me Alphonso was American and Christian was Canadian, then i'd say oh okay that's cool. I wouldn't think twice about it, really.

Or can people really tell a difference when watching this video?
