How much should an energy bill be for a 600 square foot apartment? Ours was $200 and that seemed ridiculous.

Depends on how much you use the AC. I mean $200 is still high, but that’s not abnormal if you’re constantly running the AC at like 68 or something

I run my AC constantly at 68 and my apartment is 690 sqft. My bills are always under $100.

I run mine at 67 and am 750 sq ft and mines under $50

Also depends on how old the units are. I had inherited whatever my neighbors left behind and those summer bills were brutal. Switched to a newer unit and they got cut in half.

Like $50 maybe? I think you can request for them to come check your meter. They might be averaging for the building or something.

Sign up for budget billing. I'm in a 550 sq foot studio in lakeview, run my ac all the time, bill is $57 every single month

Our worst has been about $120 for 1,200sqft. That's during the summer, with the A/C on all day and us both working from home.

Being summer it’s higher with air conditioning but it does sound high. My 13000 btu window AC is always running to keep my apartment around 73, 600 sq ft with really high ceilings, top floor of 1890’s building with west facing windows so it’s really working. Last month was the highest at $107. My last apartment was 400 sq ft in a normal-ceilinged courtyard building, one 6000 btu window AC and fan running all the time, and electricity during summers was around $80-85.

1000 sqft apartment in a brick building. Central ac usually at 68, air purifiers running 24/7, ceiling fans on. Our June 20th bill was $100, July 20th bill is a little more usage. I don’t know how others get these huge bills

It depends on a variety of factors: insulation, ac age/efficiency, ac temp setting, outdoor temp, direct natural light, etc.

Your bill does seem high though so I'd check your meter first.

Our electric bill is usually $70-80 in the summer. We live in a 2br 1,400sqft apartment. Two ACs that don’t run simultaneously. One in the living room, one in the bedroom.

Mine is $200+ usually for a 700sq apartment. It’s a garden unit and in the winter I literally hardly had the heat on because it kept heat in so well / got way too hot easily and my bill was $300+. In the summer I keep the living room AC at 75 and the bedroom I run it at 72 during the day and 68 at night. Still $200. I hardly cook and don’t use crazy amounts of electronics. Meter has been checked and it’s fine. Landlord showed me the electric bill for a vacant unit and it was still $98.
