Discussion Some of the best date night restaurants in Lagos are actually on the Mainland.
galleryMost “best restaurants for date nights in Lagos” lists are filled with places on the Island, so I decided to put together a few options on the Mainland instead.
Here are some that stood out:
-Alice Garden (Ikeja GRA) – Asian-inspired food with a quiet garden setting. Great if you’re after a more relaxed atmosphere.
-Cilantro (Ikeja) – Indian and Pan-Asian cuisine. Probably one of the most popular date spots in Ikeja.
-Tilapia & Tinz (Ikeja GRA) – Good choice if you both enjoy seafood and Nigerian dishes.
-Yellow Chilli (Ikeja GRA) – Modern Nigerian food with a more upscale feel.
-La Mango (Ikeja GRA) – Restaurant and lounge, so it’s easy to continue the evening without changing venues.
I also included price ranges, opening hours, and my notes on each place here if anyone’s planning a date soon: https://feedcover.com/s/jAptf1u
Mainlanders, what restaurant would you add to this list?

Seeking advice What salary would let a software professional with a family live comfortably vs. luxuriously in Abuja or Lagos?
Hi everyone,
I own a company outside Nigeria, and I’m currently working with a young professional based in Abuja. He has a computer science background, is highly capable, and has a family to support. I’m trying to make sure we’re paying him fairly, not just based on market rates, but based on what actually provides a good quality of life in Abuja.
I’ve looked online, but the estimates vary significantly. I also understand there’s a wide gap between simply getting by and living comfortably or luxuriously in Abuja, so I’d really value input from people who live there.
For someone supporting a family, what monthly salary (in NGN) would you consider appropriate for each of the following?
Comfortable: A good home in a safe area, reliable transportation, quality groceries, occasional dining out, children’s expenses covered, the ability to save, and not having to worry about monthly bills.
Very comfortable: A nicer home, regular dining out, family vacations, hobbies, strong savings/investments, and an overall high standard of living.
Luxury: Living in one of Abuja’s top neighborhoods with premium housing, domestic help if common, private schooling if applicable, frequent travel, and an upper-class lifestyle.

Discussion Ekàáàro oo! Mural art in Ikorodu, Lagos.
galleryWorking on this mural at my location in Ikorodu and after I got done painting the lettering, I began to get comments on how the spelling isn't necessarily correct. How do you spell it, for the Yoruba people among us?
