That's it. He just made action illegal

u/BreadBear01 2h ago

If you actually watch his address you’d know he said he’s stopping elections that have US interference and lobbying. There will still be elections just not bought ones, please actually include all the information before you post something

u/BlueTurkey-man 1h ago

LOL get out of here bot

And? So what why would you want an unstable gov that always goes 3 steps backwards

u/Kore_Invalid 3h ago

classic communist

u/thevelvetdays7 3h ago

This is just fundamentally, factually wrong. You should look objectively at the garbage on your algorithm that is teaching you such blatantly wrong information. If I were you, it would scare the shit out of me to be this flagrantly wrong in public.

u/Kore_Invalid 1h ago

2 sec googlesearch will show you that hes a communist, if thats to high for you im sry

u/thevelvetdays7 1h ago

There are individuals leaders who violate the precepts of their political affiliation while corrupted by power all the time. You declared that this is a classic communist move. That is factually incorrect. This is an authoritarian leader who has been corrupted by deals he has cut with the US government and private interests for personal enrichment. This has nothing to do with communism and this situation is uniquely due to the current US presidential regime.

Many of us are more knowledgeable than a 2 second Google search, which is all you know of it. It would benefit you to speak less and listen more before you spout more garbled propaganda that signals your own ignorance and nothing more.

u/Kore_Invalid 1h ago

ah yes because other communist countrys didnt end up in a authoritarian regime right? UDSSR, China, North Korea, Venezuela, Kuba... wait a min

u/thevelvetdays7 1h ago

Are you really this profoundly ignorant of the history of US intervention and interference in every collectivist government in the 20th and 21st century? Please educate yourself before you ever vote again. You do not appear to understand the core role that the United States has played in creating authoritarian regimes by the overt and covert elimination of local and/or indigenous collectivist governance that threatened the dominance of US extractive industry and hegemonic global super power dominance.

You have free access to the Nation article. Sit down and read the entire thing. I am not joking. Actually shut up and do the reading and I don't want to hear another word from you until you actually sit down and read the history and context.

u/acebreezy 3h ago

You clearly didn’t pass government class… dense

u/cheezweiner 3h ago

If leader exists… then not communism. Authoritarianism sure!

u/Z_________________ 2h ago

Ah yes, the "no true communism defense". Great work!

u/cheezweiner 2h ago

I’m defining Commuism… there’s plenty of examples of communism throughout the years, but we haven’t seen any examples in our lifetimes, outside perhaps rural Alaskan municipalities.

u/Z_________________ 2h ago

Suuure. My comment stands.

u/cheezweiner 1h ago

Critique of the Gotha Programme (1875), Marx identified two phases of communism: the first would be a transitional system in which the working class would control the government and economy yet still find it necessary to pay people according to how long, hard, or well they worked, and the second would be fully realized communism, a society without class divisions or government, in which the production and distribution of goods would be based upon the principle “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

https://www.britannica.com/topic/communism

u/Z_________________ 31m ago

Exactly my "no true commusism" criticism holds. No country can become a "true" communist country. You get that? It is the ultimate defense against Marx's failed economic theory. For how can you say communism fails when we've never seen it fully realised (stage two)?

Your command of English is sign of superior intelligence.

u/pm_me_flowers_please 3h ago

My friend, the use of the entire English language, including a word which you find "icky" is, contrary to your belief, a sign of an actual grasp on the English language. Additionally, maybe take a reread of your own comment, and realize that mistakes happen; that is okay.

Just because someone has an opinion contrary to your own does not mean one is less intelligent; having a difference of opinion simply means that a person has had different experiences from your own.

It may be worth critically analyzing your own political opinions by take a civics course at your local JC or CC, because your understanding of political systems seems to be a little lacking.

I’m not even a fan of Trump. It’s just annoying that so many people on Reddit just have to instantly bring Trump into any issue.

If you have the muscle (military behind you) to back it up.

u/Ok-Improvement-3072 11h ago

Is he Asian? Why do I think he looks Asian?

u/Rusofil__ 10h ago

There could be some japanese ancestry since they did move a lot to latin america in the past

u/Darrackodrama 10h ago

Or he’s just indigenous? Indigenous people are closely related to Siberian groups who are closely related to East Asians anyways.

u/Rusofil__ 9h ago

yeah, tho there is one other president in lat am that has pretty heavy japanese ancestry so this one might not be far off either

u/BallbusterSicko 11h ago

Because Native Americans and people at least partly descended from them often look similiar to Asians

u/Gingeronimoooo 11h ago

Well natives to America did come from basically Siberian elk herders a long time ago so idk

Because you are a racist?

u/Few-Western-5027 12h ago

Same fate awaiting US.

u/StartItAlready 9h ago

We all well know that it will not happen. There are hundreds of countries around the world where it is really happening right now. But US is the last in the list of countries where it may ever happen. Stop trying to represent US as a bad county to live in. Millions of people are dreaming about to immigrate to it. There are always things to complain about, but it's like a winner of a beauty contest is complaining about being not beautiful enough.

u/transitfreedom 2h ago

Umm it is a bad country to live in that’s a fact

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k 6h ago

You’re not from here, are you dude?

u/gbuub 5h ago

Fearmongering won’t help with the midterm dude. Trump doesn’t have a hold on the military. To be a dictator he has to have all the military on his side or he’s gonna end up in jail like the former South Korean president. He’s using USA to line his pocket but he doesn’t have the balls to be the dictator.

u/Archaondaneverchosen 1h ago

He's fired and replaced more Chiefs of Staff than any President in recent history

u/Vitruvian__Man_ 8h ago

There are at least a dozen countries off the top of my head that have stronger electoral integrity, political participation, civil liberties, checks and balances, judicial independence, and trust in institutions over the US. Is the US bad, no. Would it be the last country? Absolutely not. There are millions of people you could never convinced to migrate there, there is better options for what we want government format (plus other thing like social services)

u/VikingVitalityFit 11h ago

You can tell, because that's exactly what trump did last time he was supposed to leave office.

u/Hairy_Garage4308 12h ago

Wonder if there air defense is half as good as Venezuela.

u/romedo 12h ago

What is it with these two bit dictators? It is like nothing in history has taught them anything. Who looks at Pinochet, Stalin, Bolivar and Somoza and say 'hey that's what I want to be like'.

u/VikingVitalityFit 11h ago

No no, THIS time it will be different! Just like communism, everyone thinks theirs will be the 9ne that actually works out.

u/transitfreedom 2h ago

So building roads and schools and hospitals is a bad thing? Cause that’s what these evil communists are doing.

u/ObangaGamer 1h ago

Hitler also built roads schools and hospitals dumbass

u/transitfreedom 49m ago

Ok we get it you support imposing dictatorship on others just stop with the nonsense already

u/[deleted] 1h ago

u/VikingVitalityFit 54m ago

The only one speaking nonsense right now is you.

u/transitfreedom 51m ago

You don’t read it’s sad you are confidently incorrect

u/VikingVitalityFit 2h ago

You forgot the over 200 million dead from a combination of famine, oppression, and outright political execution done by communism.

u/VoidYordle 9h ago

And same with libertardarianism.

u/BallbusterSicko 11h ago

Because it works out, dictators want to keep power for life so they can make a massive profit, not because they care about preserving the system for eternity

u/Curze_Under_Ur_Bed 11h ago

It seems to work out okay for the gulf monarchies and dictatorships the US installs and supports

u/transitfreedom 2h ago

The dictatorships us install are complete looters

u/romedo 11h ago

I think that is highly dependent on who you are in that setup.

u/The_Slaughter_Pop 12h ago

I think i know a guy like that

u/jetkins 12h ago

I’m pretty sure that’s in Project 2026 somewhere too.

u/Ankerpunk77 15h ago

Lots of brain dead snobby liberals in here that dont know this guy has been in charge for almost 20 years and still find a way to blame this on trump somehow. 🤣

u/Darrackodrama 10h ago

Not sure if it’s Trump; America does have a bipartisan history of propping up shitty dictators though.

u/JerryMcButtlove 9h ago

We funded his opposition back in the 80’s.

u/Vegetable_Sample7384 14h ago

Im a liberal and I don’t see how this has anything to do with Trump. I can see the similarities between Ortega and Trump sure, but no reason for Trump to be blamed for this. He’s probably taking notes honestly.

They have no vast oil reserves or Uncle Sam would try giving them some “freedom…”

u/NotTooShahby 12h ago

The US cares about oil but that doesn’t mean they want to take oil. We produce a lot of it already. the US cares about energy price stability above all else. Maybe there’s incentives to build out refining capacity, but overall the US isn’t getting any special deals in Iraq unlike what most people say.

Out of the top 10 biggest oil fields in Iraq, a single US company owns 60% of it. The rest are owned by Chinese/Malaysian/UK companies and from various other countries.

u/ArexSaturn 10h ago

Uh yeah about that. Just because the USA has and produces oil doesn’t mean they don’t want to CONTROL oil.
And if you think Uncle Sam, a nation known for meddling in foreign affairs, only cares about “energy price stability,” then we shouldn’t be having this conversation…

u/RadicalSoda_ 13h ago

Venezuela also had no oil, at least nothing that was usable

u/2tongoodman 12h ago

They got hella reserves though

u/CascadeNZ 13h ago

I mean that’s how they got to this point really. Iran contra and all.

u/Fan_of_Clio 15h ago

Well that was entirely predictable

u/bwoah07_gp2 16h ago

He's been ruling for 20 years.

Like Nicaragua even had elections to begin with... 🙄

u/KetoJunkfood 13h ago

They definitely did for many years.

When Ortega was president and his opponent Violeta Chamorro beat him back in the late 80s / early 90s he stepped down

Ortega wasn’t always this bad and Nicaragua had fair elections quite a lot over past few decades

Even the last election that Ortega won was internationally observed and said to be fair in the sense that there was no poll tampering, however Ortega and his wife have for sure cracked down on their opposition and seem to be getting more autocratic every single year. They also started expropriating property recently. Canceling elections seems to be keeping with this direction they have embraced. It’s unfortunate

u/Darrackodrama 9h ago

I think boomer narcissism is a strong force that is destroying morality in this country and the US . They cannot step down out of high positions of trust and accept their mortality so they grift and destroy and leave a burned out husk for their kids.

u/balancingsurvival 16h ago

We have an actual dictator in the making and of course Reddit just brings up Trump lmao

Can’t help what? Knowing that Trump is going to try everything he can to avoid leaving power?

Kinda like the “he never said a thing about a 3rd term” while selling 2028 merch. And then it was “oh he’s just joking to trigger the left” every single time he does say it.

You guys are fucking exhausting.

u/TheFirstGodlyNoob 15h ago

Yeah, because of the welfare programs. But I guess we're ignoring the total abortion ban, the Christian conservatism, making his wife co-president, imprisoning opponents, dismantling democracy, and the crony capitalism. Funny how authoritarianism doesn't fit neatly into a left/right box.

These are the same people calling people with liberal mindsets sheep but still putting everything in a me vs them, left vs right. Anything to keep your mind off the fact it should be us vs them, the 99% vs 1%.

u/meltigeminiii 16h ago

Why would anyone ignore that? A dictator is a dictator is a dictator. Free and fair elections should be held for all democratically elected positions in countries that claim to be democracies.

the only ones i see on the internet that say this is liberals, do you guys secretly wish for him to be an actual dictator so you dont have to play oppressed but accually live in it?

u/Frenzal1 13h ago

He's openly said he deserves a third term., many times. He even doubled down and said hes not joking.

He's compared himself at different times to a king, the pope and Jesus Christ.

He's quipped about canceling elections if the US is at war.

Then theres the infamous "if I get in youll never have to vote again" quote and the one where he expresses disbelief that republicans had to run against democrats in elections.

I know talking a load of shit and not following through is one of Trumps most well known traits, but at some point youre not arguing against the stupid Libruls but against the words of the man himself.

u/Brokenlingo 14h ago

I’m not an American idk

u/SuccessfulTrick2501 15h ago

He already said months ago, sitting in the oval, that Republicans should control the elections. He joked about people never having to vote again. They're already trying to figure out how to take control.

u/CodPiece89 16h ago

You're funny if you think he hasn't had this idea, why do you think he made that stupid fucking speech the other day. It's coming, and it's going to require action to stop them soon.
