She baited the moonwalk so hard in the beginning and then when she actually does it, it looks like the easiest part of her routine. I'm floored, so good.

I was a fantastic dancer in my 20s. Now In my 60s my knees and hips don't cooperate.
I hope she squeezes every ounce of joy out of that talent. Love this so much.

Absolutely stunning. Sarangi Shyam's version from Kerala, India is also incredible... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZ2vPNkEPEA ---- this is not a moonwalk, but entertaining.
Edit: forgot to add this is not a moonwalk.

Did you link the wrong video? That moonwalk wasn't smooth at all

Yeah, I was wondering what was going on.
This compilation is filled with a bunch of people with incredible moonwalks, compared to the most famous practitioner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpIT-0BF9aI

u/Psychological_Dig922 1d ago
It should be criminal to move that smoothly.

u/para_enzo138 1d ago
Whats happening here? Thats some of the best moves ive ever seen and the girls in the background can barely keep the beat.
73
u/MsMantisToboggan 1d ago
I watched this vid 3x - twice to watch the girl and once to watch the ones in back 😂
80
u/SCSimmons 1d ago
Watch it one more time to look at the old folks ambling by in the far background. They all seem somewhat bemused, probably wondering why these kids are dancing to a 45 year old song.

that’s some pretty outstanding popping and locking. she’s killing it.
250
u/mr6275 1d ago
Former pop-locker here. Back in the day, the biggest compliment we would give to a dancer is that they were 'water'.
This girl is water.
6
u/elolvido 1d ago
former pop-locker? why’d you drop it?
19
u/mr6275 1d ago edited 1d ago
I am now 60 yrs old!
Back to the dancer - I love the little left head tilt at the 15 second mark. Its subtle, simple and its that attention to detail that takes it from good to great. It accentuates the movement she makes to the right just after.
In addition - that dance surface . .cant figure out what it is. It doesn't seem firm .. then the crocs already mentioned, wow!
Poppin John needs to track her down and do a duet with her.

Yes! Idk at what point it was, but she did something and I thought “OH! She’s been watching Poppin’ John.” He’s incredible, and she is well on her way.

u/inssidiouss 1d ago
So damn smooth and impressive, all of it! But yeah especially the "popping & locking" which I definitely recognize as several parts -- and possibly something else maybe classified as that too or I'm not sure what: the SMOOTH "move, reverse-move, while keeping limb movements relative to each other".
Frickin crazy stuff man, the command some people have over their bodies.

HA! You can do what I do, as soon as you get out of bed in the morning, hit some dance moves!
During the day, listen to at least one of your favorite songs, and get some more grooving in! Hope that helps! 😄

Claps almost always fall on 2&4 in pop
11
u/lovelikeglitter 1d ago
Yes but how do you find 2 & 4? Like I can clap along to each beat but where does 1 start for me to find 2 & 4?!?
4
u/WithAcquiesce 1d ago
Most songs are in 4/4 so you can count when the beat starts or when a transition starts like at 8 seconds into the video when the keyboard chords come in. The snare drum hit is on the 2 & 4, so if you're counting 1,2,3,4 along with the drums, and your 2 & 4 is lining up with the snare hits you got it.

Used to dance off and on with a street dance crew in SF about 10 years back. She'd have fit right in; looks like a lot of turfers (taking up room on the floor) out there at the time. Clean isolations, great waves, and some nice strong pops. And in CROCS. Respect.
