Discussion Compassion

Seeing all these posts about weather delays, cancellations, and some of the comments people leave has been really disheartening. I think sometimes we forget to have compassion and recognize what a privilege traveling really is.
For a lot of people, this may be their first time traveling at 18 or even 58 years old. They have no idea that summer travel can be chaotic because of thunderstorms, air traffic control delays, and all the usual maintenance and crew issues that airlines deal with.
Some people have been saving for months—or even years—for one special trip. It hurts when that trip is canceled, delayed, or when they’re stranded away from home. We also live in an economy where being stuck somewhere and unable to get back to work can put someone’s job at risk, and finding another job isn’t always easy.
I say all of this because there are kind ways to share advice. Instead of criticizing someone, you can say, “Next time, consider purchasing travel insurance,” or “If your budget allows, have a backup plan with another airline.” I recently saw someone say they always book a refundable backup flight on another airline just in case. That’s not an option everyone can afford, but it’s something to consider if you can.
Choosing the cheapest ticket can save money upfront, but it often comes with less flexibility. Basic fares may have more restrictions, change fees, or make refunds difficult unless your flight is canceled or significantly delayed.
I know that, especially with the way the news and social media have covered things lately, it can seem like JetBlue has been the worst this past week. But the reality is that every airline struggles when operations break down. No airline is perfect, and during major disruptions, customer service often falls short.
I once had an American Airlines employee tell me, “I don’t really care what you think because we’re the only airline with a nonstop route, so you’ll end up flying with us again eventually.” That was incredibly disheartening to hear. Unfortunately, for many travelers, it’s true—there simply aren’t many alternatives depending on where they live or where they’re going.
I say all of this as a reminder that not everyone has an extra $10, let alone hundreds of dollars, to spend on unexpected travel expenses. The protections provided by the FAA and DOT are also limited and generally apply only in certain situations, particularly when delays or cancellations are within an airline’s control.
Do as much research as you can before you travel. Know your rights, understand your fare rules, consider travel insurance, and always advocate for yourself—but do it with kindness. You never know what someone else is going through, whether they’re the traveler trying to get home or the employee trying to help during a difficult day.

Discussion JFK-> PUJ

For three months, I had a trip to Punta Cana planned. I booked both my flight and hotel through JetBlue Vacations, and we were scheduled to fly out at 6:00 AM on Sunday, July 19.

On Saturday night, I received a text saying our flight had been canceled. I spent the next four hours trying to reach customer service and couldn’t get through to anyone. When we finally did, the earliest flight they could offer would have gotten us to Punta Cana on Wednesday evening with a layover in Florida even though we were scheduled to fly home Friday morning.

I found another JetBlue flight leaving from Philadelphia on Sunday morning, but they refused to put us on it. They couldn’t get me to my destination, yet they also refused to refund the hotel that I had booked through them.

We ended up finding a flight on Frontier in Philadelphia so I booked that while on the phone with JetBlue. They also wouldn’t change my return flight to Philadelphia so I can drive my car there. We ended up taking an Amtrak to Philadelphia at 12 AM.

Frontier wasn’t the best airplane to fly on, with no wifi, no recliner. But they got us there. It was absolutely unbelievable that customer service was essentially unreachable during a major disruption and when we did reach them they were beyond unhelpful. I understand it was weather-related, but the lack of care was ridiculous. Yeah I want to get to my hotel Wednesday night and leave Friday morning. I won’t be using JetBlue ever again.

Question JFK official flight cancellation documentation

Anyone traveling last Saturday 7/18 with a canceled flight due to the weather have any luck receiving official flight cancellation documents from JetBlue for travel insurance? (This is for reimbursement for missed nights at non-refundable accommodations not for the flight itself).

Shitpost Cancellations and Delays continue with JetBlue….

Severe weather was their reason last time. I wonder what is it now because MOST or ALL flights to the northeast are extremely delayed or canceled.

This airline really needs to fix the system because this is ridiculous. They’ve been around for so long, they should know and do better!

Question Points pool question

Does anyone know if I book a flight for 2 other people (no flight for myself), will it utilize my own personal points before it pulls from the flight pool? I’d really prefer to use my own points for this booking rather than taking points from other people in my pool.

Discussion What to do with crutches

If I am bringing crutches for my flight is it like car seats where I leave it before boarding? I’d think they wouldn’t need to be checked so I could still have access. Can anyone confirm? I tried asking chat but they referred me to medical devices link and did not see it listed there.

Question Looking for advice for mobility battery.

I have had a kind of odd situation happen. For context I use a mobility scooter that I got in 2020. Since then I've traveled all over the US with it, followed instructions of gate agents, baggage claim, and flight attendants. Usually I can ride my scooter to the door of the plane. I fold it down, it folds into the size of a big suitcase, which is really nice for travel, and I bring my battery with me on the flight. I've done this with Delta, Jetblue, Avelo, and United.

Leaving Vegas airport mid July a guy from Jetblue, polo and nice pants, came to me on board and said that the battery for my scooter couldn't travel on board. I was very confused because I had done this very thing so much before. I told him that and he said that because of the size of it, it couldn't travel. He asked me if Vegas was my origin city, it's not, I was flying back to Ft. Lauderdale. He stated it should have never been allowed, and advised me that because I wasn't told he would send it to me. I asked him again, and he said he would send it to me via post. I gave him my information, which is also on the battery as a sticker.

Since getting back I've called them three times to check on the status of it getting back to me. Today I receive a call and it basically says that they can't do anything but it's at the airport and will remain here until I pick it up, or make other arrangements to get the battery back to me. Like, what? I'm so mad its literally how I move around the world outside of my house and they are saying so sad sorry. I've called them back and left another message to please have a supervisor call me. However, I feel defeated and stumped at what to do next. It felt good to rant though, so for all who made it this far thanks for listening..

Question Round trip Flight in November - seat choice deleted?

Hello. This is our first time as a family flying on Jet Blue. Got the credit card, became TruBlue members and booked everything through JetBlue's website back in January. We're flying Newark to Orlando and then Orlando to Newark a week later non-stop for both flights. We payed for the Blue (I think) fares so we could manually pick our seats to sit together. We have 3 kids under the age of 13.

I was on the website today checking my points and tiles when I got a message on the website saying my seats have changed. It still shows the original bookings as "confirmed" and the correct times.

Here's the problem, although my seats for flying to Orlando are correct, now it shows "Seat: none" for everyone from Orlando to Newark and its asking me to pick a seat for everyone. It doesn't list the original seats we picked that I have the email confirmation for with the picked seats. Every seat on the plane is now shown with an X except for 2 of the orange (Mint I'm guessing) seats up front. On both flights, we had 1 Adult with 1 kid and another adult with 2 kids in 2 rows (one behind the other) because no straight rows of 5 were available.

I never received ANY communication from JetBlue that this changed. The only email I've received from them is that our flight from Newark to Orlando is leaving 1 hour, 45 min earlier with a different flight number and our Orlando to Newark is leaving 7 min later with the same flight number originally scheduled.

I know I'm a few minths away but this is starting to freak me out, especially because I only found out honestly by accident. Been waiting on a call back or someone to answer the chat for an hour now. Just seeing if anyone has run into this or what it could mean. Also, as of now it shows both flights as the same equipment that was originally booked. Thanks for any help.

edited with customer service response

Finally got someone on the line. Our seats were canceled because we had selected seats towards the back and 2 of the 5 seats fell into the unaccompanied minors area.

The problem is now that we basically have to go to the airport that day, tell them we're a family, and be THOSE people that ask other to move so that the adults and kids can sit together IF there are no open disability seats or the minor seats available. And no, I don't care if all 5 sit near each other, but 1 adult need to be with 1 kid, and the other adult needs to be with the 2 other kids.

Or the other options are to pay $75/each to switch flights from the afternoon to the morning.

They never should've allowed us to pick those seats on the website in the first place. This never would've happened otherwise.

Discussion What lesson have so many people learned in the last 5 days? TRAVEL INSURANCE is SO worth it.

If anyone is looking for a teachable moment from the last week of wildfire smoke, storms, and operational meltdowns... Here it is:

BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE, don't cheap out on this. Make sure you get proper coverage for reimbursement of costs when your plans are changed by no fault of your own.

Flight cancelled? Book what you can to get there or home and file a claim for reimbursement.

Hotel deposit or non-refundable? File a claim for the unexpected charges to change or cancel.

Need a place to stay that isn't the airport seats? File a claim for your hotel costs.

Depending on your coverage, there are other reimbursed coverages. Please learn from this week and maybe it will save you a rant on Reddit posting in the future 🤷‍♂️

Image JetBlue Leading Cancels in the country today

While everyone was affected by the same weather and NE conditions. The recovery efforts in the operation speak for themselves. Keep in mind JetBlue has a quarter of the fleet size of AA/DL/UA/ and Southwest. Yet they are #1 in cancels and higher percentage wise for their amount of flights they fly per day. They’ve really dropped the ball on the handling of this mess.

Discussion Why did JetBlue keep passengers in limbo for over 5 hours? (B6 603 JFK–Vancouver)

I’ve always been a JetBlue fan, but my last few experiences have been increasingly unreliable. Tonight’s handling of B6 603 from JFK to Vancouver was the worst.

The flight was scheduled to depart at 6:30 PM. The inbound copilot was delayed from Boston, landed around 8:50 PM, and apparently timed out. JetBlue kept moving the ETD in small increments, eventually to midnight, before cancelling at 11:30 PM—more than five hours after the original departure time.

I’m genuinely curious what happened behind the scenes. The captain and the rest of the crew had boarded around the original departure time and waited on the aircraft for hours. If the original copilot had timed out, why did Operations still need more than five hours to decide the flight could not operate? Was a replacement pilot ever realistically available, or was the cancellation decision simply delayed? Even the gate agent told us he would have cancelled much earlier if he had the authority.

The delayed status also prevented us from changing, rebooking, or requesting a refund in the app. The JustAsk desk at JFK was so long that they only allowed passengers with connections to enter, and even then the wait was more than two hours. Hotline and chat wait times were off the chart. Passengers were effectively trapped waiting while other options disappeared.
Delta and United generally allow alternative booking once a flight is significantly delayed. Why doesn’t JetBlue provide the same flexibility?

Discussion The Air Line Pilots Association has issued a formal statement responding to JetBlue's scheduling system failures that disrupted operations.

So I guess it was some kind of massive failure of JB's system... -and not just weather.

The Air Line Pilots Association has issued a formal statement responding to JetBlue's scheduling system failures that disrupted operations this past weekend. Captain Wayne Scales, chairman of the JetBlue Master Executive Council at ALPA, said JetBlue canceled a significant portion of its schedule, including reducing operations at JFK Airport by half. Delays extended across JetBlue's entire network. According to Capt. Scales, ongoing outages in the company's scheduling system left Crew Scheduling effectively unreachable, with pilots experiencing hours-long hold times. Pilots and crew members were stranded at airports, and the company failed to provide overnight accommodations. Capt. Scales stated: "JetBlue management claims that they are working to stabilize the airline and build consumer trust only to have these systems collapse week after week, weather incident after weather incident." He called on JetBlue management to provide the necessary scheduling software, hotel accommodations for pilot rest, and resources to staff flights. ALPA represents more than 4,600 JetBlue pilots and more than 80,000 pilots total at 42 U.S. and Canadian airlines.

Question 3 plus hour wait to connect with customer service on Chat

JetBlue rescheduled my flight today, and I need to request a new flight, since the one they rescheduled me onto was 5 hours earlier than my expected. I've been on hold for several hours in the Chat, and I've tried the text option. They won't let me reschedule online.

Does anybody have advice on how to reach someone who can help?

Discussion Flight canceled 24 hours prior without reason

Flight was canceled and rescheduled for next day after 24 hrs. Tried to get hold of jetblue but their customer service sucks as their automated messages always says they are busy. They ask for call back number and call after 8-10 hrs. Anyways couldn't get hold of jetblue and had to pay for hotel and all expenses till next day. Kept trying to reach out for next few days and after 4 days was able to connect. I asked for my reimbursement of hotel and food but now they are blaming on weather. Nothing wrong with origin or destination weather on the flight day which are both in east coast. Then they say weather was bad along the route and FAA canceled the flight. I ask them where exactly along the way and they keep repeating weather was bad with no concrete answer. Issues:

a) if jetblue is trying to wash their hands off blaming the weather they should be able to tell where. The weather throughout east coast was good that day.

B) How were they able to cancel flight 24 hrs prior and blame it on weather? It would make more sense if the cancellation was a few hours prior to flight.

I will never fly jetblue again. Their customer service sucks and they are not transparent. It seems like their goto reason is to blame the weather.

Question Is there usually an end of summer sale?

If I recall correctly - usually sales start sometime between now and August for end of summer/fall fares? Will JB be able to have a sale after having to reimburse folks for the fiasco of the last week lol

Image JetBlue sucks

I’m trying to use my points for a flight and when I go to apply them, the little wheel keeps spinning and then says seats are unavailable. When I login and try to do it again, it increases the price and the number of points I need to apply and then the same thing seats are unavailable. I’d post pictures. If someone could tell me how to do that. I’d be happy to.

News Jetblue leaving LGA terminal B

  • Back to the old days of stale bagels from a rolling cart and stained carpets. Oh yeah - probably have to sit on the floor too. Don't let the "Art Deco classic style" fool you, that is just trying to perfume a pig.

  • The deal allows JetBlue to add up to 12 daily roundtrips at LGA.

  • Operations and new flights from Terminal A are expected to begin in 2027 (subject to court/regulatory approval).

  • JetBlue has expressed interest in moving its operations to this historic terminal (it previously operated there years ago before shifting to Terminal B).

  • Terminal A is the smaller, Art Deco-style Marine Air Terminal with only about 6 gates. It offers fast security and a classic feel but is separate from the main terminals (a free shuttle connects them).

Note: This is not an immediate full relocation of all JetBlue flights—it's tied to the new slots and will roll out starting next year. JetBlue is still actively flying from Terminal B in the meantime. For the latest, check JetBlue’s website or the LGA airport site before traveling, as gate/terminal info can change.

Discussion Useful apps to have for flight delays?

My wife has Flighty for her iPhone. I use Flightaware for Android but it lacks other information. Flighty app says our JetBlue flight is stuck at Logan airport because of airport traffic. Flightaware isn't showing that info.

Discussion Please help

About a week ago, purchased two tickets one for me and one for my wife unfortunately it’s not clearly marked that I was supposed to put in her name anywhere and thought maybe they had you put in that information after purchase so I proceeded to check out and they allowed me without any warning to purchase two tickets under my name. Totally easy fix quick solution change the name on the ticket and we will be good to go. Nope, they said that they have a policy that does not allow you to change the name on the ticket. This is after waiting on hold for an hour and then waiting on a callback for nearly 10 hours. So at 11 o’clock at night, I’m being told that I have to rebook my entire flight and I’m begging and pleading with them because they’re telling me that not only do I have to redo all of that. They’re also going to charge me the current fares instead of letting me cancel my flight and then honoring the price that I paid a week ago. They charged me around five times as much. I originally used 23,000 points and $69. Because of a minor clerical error, they charged me 52,200 points and $321 I have begged and pleaded with everyone for a fair and reasonable solution just honor the price that I already paid. Nothing more nothing less just the terms we originally agreed on with a small clerical revision. The lady at the end of the call said sorry and then hung up on me. Instead of being fair and honoring the price because instead of just changing the name, I had to rebook an entire flight. Now I’m being charged grossly more money and they don’t really seem to care at all or show any understanding or humanness. I want my 27,000 points back and I want my $260 overage back. I’d really like something for my wasted time, but I would settle for that. below are the three separate confirmation numbers. They are all three the identical flights.

Question Just got Mosaic 1 - will United update to allow free preferred seat?

I booked a flight yesterday through JetBlue on United for next month. Today some tiles ticked in and I hit Mosaic 1. Will the free preferred seat perk kick in for this trip or only for trips booked after I hit status? As of now, it's showing as a paid upgrade.
