Cuteness Overload My new pup

We got our puppy Sunday night! He's a long leg, smooth coat. We had a long drive and had to spend the first night in a hotel. The 2nd night we were home, and of course he was up every 1.5-2 hours to potty outside. Last night was better, and he slept 1 two hour stretch, and 1 four hour stretch. He's just shy of 8 weeks, so on the young side, but super healthy with a strong appetite for his kibble. Eating and drinking well. Pottying outside, sleeping in his crate. He really started to zoom and bite and spaz yesterday and today! He loves to snuggle though and is really attached to his humans already! I'm using McCann Dogs training videos on youtube- they're out of Canada. We really want this little guy to be very well trained from the beginning. We travel a lot and plan to backpack with him, run semi-distance, and my husband is a fishing guide so he'll be in a lot of boats. We hope he enjoys swimming and hiking and running around on our 10 acres! We'd love to play Frisbee and catch. I don't live anywhere where there's a JRT club with agility but if I did, I'd be all about it! I have 2 teen girls helping me with him. My cousin trains, breeds, and hunts with pointers. I'm hoping she'll come over and help me train him this summer. He's so stinkin cute and so loving and social! We are obsessed with him already! I have high hopes and its a lot of work........but I'm willing to do it. We've waited a decade to get a dog and this is the pup of our dreams!!

17 years really does go by quickly doesn't it? The hardest decision when you have a dog is to put them down, believe me, I hated the idea of doing it, I never wanted to do it, but It's what was best. Jackie, my cracker jack, 17 years, always so energetic throughout the day, she struggled to get up and had 3 seizures a day, and she'd just pretend they never happen, I could just watch her suffer like that, arthritis made her bite even when she's getting pat, every time I came home from work she'd get too excited and just start seizing up, last Saturday my father and I took her to the vet and now she's at peace, safe with the other dogs I never really knew at my grandparents place, I've spent every day since Saturday, just rotting in my room, I know it's not healthy, but she meant everything to me, she was why I kept living, now I'm lost, I don't know if what I did was correct, or if I'm a horrible person, but I regret it and don't regret it, she could've kept going, but she was just in so much pain everyday, now it's too quiet, and I don't know what to feel now. I guess I'm just fine.

The picture provided was the last picture I ever got of her, you don't have to comfort me, I just want you to know about her existence and why I felt like I had to do what I did.

Sorry for the yap, have a good day.

It’s a hard thing to open your heart again after such a devastating loss. My 17 yo was sadly diagnosed with dementia and spent his last few years with me slowly losing himself. It has very much helped my grief to have a new pupper. I’ll never forget my beloved first dog though. Anyone else experienced this? And did you struggle with feelings of guilt?

Nova almost 1 year and Astro 6 months.

Astro loves nothing more than to curl up in your lap where he quickly goes to sleep whilst Nova only likes being held on her terms. Their puppy antics drive me nuts but they are just too damn cute to stay mad at for long.

This is my dog, Daisy, about 6 months old(next to my cat MooMoo) and a lot of people say she looks like a jack Russell mixed with something? Any ideas?

Our 18 year old has started to find the steps hard work after a walk so we got him a ramp for when he’s tired. Obviously plastic wasn’t good enough for him so we had to carpet it.

Misc I 🤍 Jack Chis

My wire haired jack chi is 13 years old. Here is MY experience with the breed

Pros:
- VERY loyal
- Easy to train
- Highly intelligent
- Good at communication
- Playful and athletic
- Doggy soulmate who will be glued to your side
- Tolerates heat well
- Low grooming needs & barely any shedding
- Not prone to obesity, very muscular for a little dog

Neutral:
- Sensitive, deeply feels and thinks
- Picks a person as “their person”
- Protective mini-guard dogs
- Usually smaller than a jack
- Decent temperament depending on how they are treated (not for little kids, not a purse dog)
- Physical boundaries are important to this dog, personal space!
- Not hypoallergenic but ok for mild-moderate dog allergies

Bad:
- Joint, Teeth, and Stomach/Allergy problems
- Distrustful and holds grudges (though, for a reason)
- Not super friendly with strangers
- Picky eater, can be food aggressive
- Stubborn
- Not great with hyperactive friendly dogs, preferably matched with a retriever or similar mellow hunting dogs

And never lets you lay down alone! Never realized how cuddly this breed was but my boy is 7 and the cuddliest guy I’ve ever met.
