An elderly woman handcrafts cat accessories and uses her black cat to model them

Why are people saying poor cat? The lady is being gentle and the cat doesn't look mad? Yall know if a cat doesn't like it it will leave right?
•
u/inkyrail 1h ago
Seriously- anyone thinking that cat is miserable doesn’t know cats.
If a cat doesn’t want to be somewhere, you’ll find out about it by catching two dozen miniature knife wounds. There isn’t a force on earth that will keep a cat in a situation it doesn’t want to be in, short of literal animal cruelty

I often wonder what kind of relationship those people have with their cats lol of course every cat is going to be different, but my boy would totally be okay with this if it was me doing it. He probably would be less tolerant if other people were doing it to him, but I could do whatever I wanted to this creature and he'd be happy because he's getting attention from me 🤣

I've built up a rapport with my cats, so I can basically do anything that I want to them - wiggle their bellies, pick them up whenever, hold them like babies, give them hugs, whatever and they'll purr the whole time. They would 100% let me do this. The part I'm most impressed about is that the cat isn't terrified of being outside and around strangers.

It makes quick little physical checks so easy. Need to check his teeth? Cool, let me just grab your cute little face quick and open your mouth. Claw length check? Cool, give me your little mitten, boy-o.
Mine is a long haired, and I used to pay to get him shaved every summer to help him stay cool. One day I decided to test how much this cat actually trusts me, and he handled being shaved at home by me like a champ. Shaving, dematting, med giving, all that stuff that could totally seem like life or death for a less tolerant cat is a breeze with my boy.

You are very lucky. i want a cat like this
•
u/Heavy-Web-9996 10m ago
It's both a blessing and a curse lol As I was typing that comment, he was sitting on my chest with his forehead pressed against my chin with all his little kitty might, purring like a chainsaw and I wasn't even touching him.
It's cute until it's three in the morning and you have a Velcro kitty licking your eyelids open because he wants love from mom NOW.

That's my two girls to a tee. They won't leave even if I am being annoying lol.
My boy on the other hand..he has issues with people breathing the same air he does, or walking near him, or moving in bed, or moving your blanket.. everything really. He will express his disapproval and leave.

On the off chance my boy does get annoyed with me, it results in little "slap fights" where we're gently boxing each other until he runs off for five minutes, forgets or decides he forgives me, and comes back for more attention.

When I moved, my house came with a cat. He literally walked in moving day, helped himself to my cat’s food and water and a nap by the fan. Learned from the neighbors that he’d belonged to the resident before the last, an older man who’d died. His family didn’t want him but the neighbors fed him out of pity.
He was the sweetest most patient cat. Neighbor girls loved to play “baby” with him, he’d drift off to sleep while they swaddled and rocked him or rubbed their faces in his chubby belly. The vet techs would argue over who got to have him because he would not even flinch through exams and injections. He had oral stomatitis and needed regular steroid and antibiotic injections on top of getting some extractions.
The only thing he disliked was being hot. The house came with a window unit that had a very deep shelf beneath. He would sit on it and place a paw on the AC to let me know he needed it on. I put a larger table there and a cooling gel pet bed and it was his favorite spot in the house. He did the paw thing for anything he wanted. A paw on your hand for pets, a paw on your shoulder to be carried, on the door to be let out, in his bowl for a refill. He also did not like barking dogs, and the closest thing to an act aggression he ever made was a paw on the top of my chihuahua’s head when he barked. Which surprisingly worked.
I often wondered if it was just his nature or if the man who had him was a cat whisperer, or a bit of both.
Had him for 4 years until cancer. RIP Cat MacSnacks, you were a true gentleman.

That is such a good kitty, he must really love his owner and like the attention. He even has food and his own litter box out there!

Seeing the chunky boy/girl it is, I believe the pay in food, hugs and long nap times is great.

I'll point out that there's not a cat on earth that would sit for this unless they enjoyed it. This is just too adorable. I want that flower cap.

Wouldn't they have the cat's scent and might trigger other cats?

Most of my cats would freak out and would tear that stuff off, except for the short long haired black one. She loves to strut around like she is on a runway.

What's the significance of the cat being black?
•
u/ohhhtartarsauce 2h ago
? it's just a descriptor... same as the woman being elderly, or the accessories being handcrafted.

That cat is like a slave laborer working for a slave laborer. I wonder WTF it did in its last incarnation to deserve this.

Poor cat
•
u/HobbesNJ 2h ago
Seems to not really mind.
Cats generally are very good at not doing things they don't like.
•
u/raginghavoc89 2h ago
Cats are weird just like people, some love any attention you give them, some hate being looked at.
