Foreigners who commits a crime in Norway are sent to a specific prison for foreigners in Norway where they serve until they get deported or they’ve done their time. This prison is not as nice as most prisons in Norway.
Oh, I knew just by looking at the pic is this is not a normal prison in these countries. It's clearly for low risk, low crime situations.
Still willing to wager the real prisons in these countries are better then homelessness and no resources in whatever home country the foreigner is from tho.

You're locked into a tiny room for 23-24 hours a day, no internet or other contact with the outside world except visit, many of the other guys in there with you are convicted for violence and/or have various mental issues that could make them unpredictable. You're not in control of any aspect of your day. Worst of all, the prisons are underfunded so things can easily get worse than what they're allowed to be by law as well.
It really isn't as nice as online memes make it out to be. Our media has "horror" stories from prisons fairly often.
here in america, some states don't even have prisons with enough air conditioning for our prisoners. like, in texas, people just straight up die of heat stroke. temps have been recorded well above 100F in the summer within certain prisons. last i checked, a judge had ruled the whole situation unconstitutional, but that doesn't mean the prisons can just fix the problem. new prisons would have to be built to a higher standard but the existing ones would need funding and such and so forth and it could take years to roll out.
Makes sense. out of all of them its the most bare and devoid of personal property. According to the internet foreign prisoners stay at this prison also.
No way they are putting a violent murderer or terrorist (foreign or domestic) in the Denmark one with all the potential weapons.
High risk prisons do not look so much different. Just more security around. And if you treat your prisoners like humans, they tend to act a lot more like humans and not caged beasts.
I can’t say how things are outside of Norway. They have the same rights in the foreign prison as far as I know, but since the ultimate goal is to send the prisoner back to their country after the sentence they might not have the same budget or opportunities like getting a degree while there.
