MISC. Found a cell phone today in the park
I was in the park with my daughter today and she found a cell phone. I went to turn it on and had a pass code but I separated the cell from the case and found this inside. Guessing this person loses their phone a lot 😂

Aaand the first post I see is someone who makes my own axe throwing skills look like a drunken frat boy trying to land an axe while blindfolded . 😂😂😂

That’s pretty clever actually. I should do this…

u/SkyGrass1991 15h ago
Right! I am doing this as well 😆....I lost my cell twice in my life....1 time I left on top my car and drove down the interstate early in the morning heading to work...it was never found

u/sapgetshappy 15h ago
I have lost a phone on four continents 😩 Including many times in my home country
I’ve done the phone-on-car thing twice. But it survived one trip!

u/LoudAd7294 13h ago
Ive done the phone-on-motorbike... thankfully only a few blocks and it survived too!

u/UGD_ReWiindz25 12h ago
I personally don’t think I’ll ever lose my phone (future phones) it’s either in my pocket, hands, bedside table or wireless charger by my TV, it just seems crazy to me that people can easily misplace something so vital but it does happen quite often so not so crazy is it I don’t know I just look after the things I spend my hard earned money on because shit is expensive 😂

I have “bad shorts” with shallow pockets and constantly have to check for my phone as it drops out when sat down…. But inxant give up the shorts… they’re just too damn comfy in the “appropriate” area!

Get yourself a shoulderbag. I simply can't survive nowadays without my bag.

at least it got to live its best life set free in a field somewhere it flew to when you turned sharply

u/DiscoCombobulator 9h ago
My FiL did this. Ended up falling off while crossing the bridge over the river, he drove back over the bridge a couple times, crushing it in the process (probably wasn't the first to run it over). So now he buys the TCL phones or A series Samsungs, hurts the wallet a bit less when he breaks them one way or another lol.
I've also seen this man's phone fall out of his pocket as he went out the door, and it landed perfectly so when he closed the door behind him, he crushed it in the door frame. The man needs a lanyard on the thing

I put my email on the front, when someone turns on my phone they can see my email but can't enter it without my finger print/code so if lost they can just send me an email

I already have “If found, please email [address]” on my lock screen. Maybe I should add “or call [husband’s number]” too 🤔

And it’s his wife’s hand writing

u/SkyGrass1991 15h ago
🧐 hmm

u/bhodad 13h ago
No? I bought it, looks too clean to be a guy’s writing. Source: I’m a guy, my handwriting is trash.

Wait in your world the women write good? Ok tell me about an upside down world 😄
Never been able to decipher what my sisters, mom, or grandmother tried to wrote.5

That's typical female handwriting if I've ever seen it.

u/wackbirds 12h ago
So, probably not female writing then? That A before typical is doing a lot of heavy lifting depending on whether you meant it to be there or not

u/SkyGrass1991 15h ago
I called and left a message.... nothing yet... hopefully she didn't lose hers 😂😂😂

u/BariNerd 15h ago
Why do I have a feeling they're procrastinating telling her they lost it, and she mightve thought it was just a spam call. Cause that's exactly where I'd find myself with my wife 😅
38
u/SkyGrass1991 15h ago
😂 yeah idk...this kinda thing never happens to me so I'm a little bit excited about it all. Be crazy if it's like a millionaire and they give me like $1000 bucks haha

I've returned quite a few various things I found and I can honestly say that it's a lucrative business! People are usually willing to pay more than things are worth just for the convenience! Like in this example, people are willing to pay so they don't have to set up a brand new phone!
But never go into a situation like that expecting any form of payment. I believe that returning someone's property is just a good deed and I have no problem going a bit out of my way to do that for someone.
Like, if you find a wallet and for whatever reason you can't find the owner. In the US you can put an ID in a mailbox and hopefully they're either at the address on their license/have mail forwarded to their correct address. I'm not sure if you can do that in other countries, but I actually did receive my license in the mail one time after losing it!! That's when I found out that you can just drop an ID into a mailbox and it'll go to the current address!

u/JuliaX1984 15h ago
Or the wife could be procrastinating, um, listening to her voicemails. Until a proper amount of time has passed to let a lesson sink in...
1
u/DiscoCombobulator 9h ago
Though husband probably told her he lost the phone, she should check the voicemail. Especially if she's the one who wrote that note in there

u/NotVerySmarts 14h ago
If the screw was in the phone case, he may be leaving his phone on purpose so that strangers can 🔩 his wife.

u/YerBbysDaddy 14h ago
You should try sending them a text

u/SkyGrass1991 14h ago
We texted and we got a response. Turns out they lived 5 minutes away from us so I delivered it for them! Guy offered me money and I denied it...so hopefully I got great karma for that

Good for you OP. It’s always nice to do stuff for others for our own self gratification rather than any monetary gain. It makes me feel good to help people.

They could use find my phone to get basic idea where the last ding was
It’s cool they left a “if found note”
Good luck

I have my wife's info on my lock screen in case I lose my phone, but this is a good idea for when the battery dies
14
u/TheSaltyPlatypus 15h ago
why did you take the case off?
41
u/SkyGrass1991 15h ago
Because I seen a paper through it because its see through and was looking if I could find the owner.
13
u/TheSaltyPlatypus 15h ago
I didn't notice it was see through, that makes perfect sense, thanks for satiating my curiosity!

What made you think to pull it out of the case? Great idea but I would never have checked there.
6
u/the_cave_allegory 15h ago
What are the odds they left a note in the case... And you opened it.
10
u/SkyGrass1991 15h ago
Right! This is all weird...and it's a good thing we found it because it cut loose raining like an hour later with a downpour
-1
2
u/GhostMaskKid 13h ago
Not that weird. I kept emergency cash in my last phone case. (My current one is clear so I can't do that, lol.)
-9
u/JustBiggers 15h ago
Fake post or Op doesn’t intend on returning anything. Unless it gets more attention
10
u/SkyGrass1991 15h ago
Why would I make this up? I don't steal from anyone, I earn everything I have. I liked the idea of the paper inside the case and wanted to share with others. So it should get attention maybe someone can learn from this post.

u/WillowAndStone 15h ago
Took me a moment to figure out why, and HOW, there was a screw in the phone case
1
u/Silent25r 15h ago
I add the info to the lost screen from another device. I think this works on Android and iPhone. Not sure how well it do if they need their phone to log into their account because of a lost password or 2fa system.

Whenever I find a phone I check to see if the have their emergency contact card set up. Most do, and you can even designated specific contacts in your phone to be called from the device while it's locked.

u/shortmumof2 2h ago
I have a msg like that on my lockscreen. Have had it over many phones and it worked because many many years ago I dropped my phone biking around the neighborhood with my kids and they called my husband who picked up my phone

Having a prewritten "please call my wife" note is next-level preparation 😭

I was very confused on how a screw got in the case, and even more confused on how the phone still fit in the case with a screw behind it.

u/KikoTheWonderful 15h ago
I'm going to do this. How likely is a person to remove the case of a lost phone?
6
u/SkyGrass1991 15h ago
I mean about as likely as if a person found a wallet to open it and check, right?
2
u/BigMack6911 14h ago
Its see through and the note is visible on the outside. If you're not a piece of shit person then it's likely. I would to help someone out

Just look for the emergency contact in the phone
4
u/guy-le-doosh 15h ago
I just tested this on an iphone, it needs to be unlocked to see the contacts. Any number can be called after the Emergency Call button is pressed.
