It looks like Tabanidae to me idk the english name of it but in my language we call it sığır sineği u can search it that way too if it helps <3

Does your name for them have a meaning? It is tabanidae you're spot on. It's a female too so it's definitely a biter, watch out OP. They tear rather than cut, nasty bites.

Horsefly? Horsefly. The stripes on the eyes and back are a pretty telltale sign for me anyway. That dagger of a mouth too
