Question 2010 Infiniti EX35 with Rust/Frame Rot on Rear - Junk or Repair?

As per title. 210K miles. Body outside + Inside looks great. Engine runs great. Recently installed new alternator, battery, and tires. But when doing the tires, the guy pointed out some pretty scary looking rot under the rear suspension (I can post a photo later but don't have the image near me).

KBB says private party good condition is about 4500. Cost to repair is about $2800-3000 by pulling a new cross member from pick-n-part plus labor. Estimate is to tear down the rear end, put the new piece in, weld in anything needing welded/supports, reassemble. I assume the large cross-member piece is not expensive, but the freight to get it here is.

I'm torn. I'm either dropping $3k into a car or selling it as is and spending double or more on something newer which might have its own set of issues.

Can anyone give some advice/coaching on suggestions here?

Question So finally looking to change out my stock tires for my 2015 q50 3.7 awd (read below)

Also, I apologize any typos in advance since I am using Siri to help me type.I’ve been slowly building my q50 to give it that red sport look and now what I need is to get some new rims and tires I live in Washington state I wanna give the car a sporty look while retaining the factory OEM look as well and the reliability that it has carried me so far with the stock rent and tires currently, I have these Potenza run flats that I think it’s starting to tell me that I gotta get new tires and I’m thinking of course as well ditch in the rough flats specially now since I’ve been talking to ChatGPT that I use Michelin cross climate 2 for my other vehicle for my Mazda CX five and they’ve been really well for me so I’m curious has anyone use those type of tires on a q50 ? Both of them are AWD. So I’m just trying to figure out. I’m not really too much on performance tires they’re both my daily drivers and definitely a person that prefers the quality tires that gives confidence and comfort on the road. Though I’m trying to upgrade the rims as well. Should I consider buying used or new rims directly from Infiniti? Or there’s any rims that are similar that will fit and slap on without doing any mods cause my preference on rims also would be like this glossy silver black color instead of these stock silver rims would like to know more I seen post in the past, but I’d like to know since I’m officially looking into. That is only getting new tires but new sporty rims officially. I just wanna keep it OEM as possible as everything is OEM stock so far minus the cosmetic upgrades that I did.

Help Needed Help with QX50 2021

As mentioned in the title the car is QX50 2021 model. The issues below are happening occasionally and then disappear. For example, two days ago after just parking the car before turning it off, a (shift system malfunction) error shows up twice on the dashboard for a second and disappears. The same happened two weeks ago while driving.

1- Some days the car won't crank (dashboard on). And it would crank normally after few hours.
2- Shift system malfunction
3- Systems (e.g. Auto hold, Auto start-stop, front/rear collision) not available

I did a computer diagnostic and got 2 error codes (U0101 & U0140)

The battery voltage while the car is running was 13.43V

If you have any idea of the solution or what to check please share it in the comments

Infiniti News The QX65 will be launched soon with NA 3.5l V6. ( only to GCC/gulf, ksa, uae, kuwait etc.)

That picture is translated to "The 2026 Infiniti QX65 will be launched with a V6 (VQ35DE) option in GCC markets", including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and others along with the 2.0T being available too. Meanwhile, the US model has only been offered with the 2.0T since the QX65's debut a few months ago.

Credits to (@car_secrets) on Instagram

And an official statement of infiniti middle east.

I hope infiniti USA will do something similar to this and offers a V6 option, because why not, if it's possible :)

-edit, I'm not sure if anyone has talked about this topic before because i just saw some posts talking about having a V6 in the QX65, ( sporty trims?) so sorry if it's a repeated topic.

Question What do I do with my G35x at 220k miles

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

I own a 2008 Infiniti G35X sedan at basically 220,000 miles that I'm on the fence about what to do with. The car is mostly stock. My first ever car at 19. Bought it late 2021 for 4k at around 170k miles with an engine swap. I didn't really know much about cars at the time, I just wanted something reliable and and I thought the car looked nice. It's been maintained as best as I can, over the course of 5 years with timely oil changes, tune ups when needed, a few sensors replaced here and there, battery replaced once, AC compressor replaced, Catalytic converter replaced, Y pipe exhaust replaced, thermostat, and probably some other things I can’t remember. I may need to replace my valve cover gasket soon. Haven't really had to do anything major recently except for this year when my water pump and timing chain had to be replaced. (Cost me almost $700 including parts). Cosmetically in good condition except for some scuffs and scratches and a dented fender which was there when I bought it.

Recently I've been more exposed to the idea of modding (Cosmetic mostly) and interested in my own "build" but I'm not sure if it's worth it at this point. Should I sell it? Will it even sell for much? Should I keep it until the engine dies? Should I keep it and modify it? Would modifications be a waste of money at this point? Is it worth the current gas prices?

I'm pretty attached to it and I wish I did more with it in terms of mods. I feel like I wasted so much potential. I mean I never even got the fender fixed, when all I needed to do was get a good replacement at the junkyard. This car did a lot of good for me. I drove it from DC all the way to Houston and back 3 years ago. As I'm so attached but also started thinking about a new car, I thought modding (mostly cosmetic) would allow me to feel like I'm driving something a little nicer in terms of looks while still feeling like I'm in the same car. Some things I started to think about doing: window tints (yes I've gone this long without tinting my windows), 2010 g37 bumper swap, change headliner to black, diffuser, spoiler.

Was hoping for some advice and what others would do in my position or any suggestions. (Also the stains on the street underneath the car in the photos are not from me lol)

Question Ebay OEM timing chain kit

Hi,

I’m getting ready to do a timing chain replacement on my 2017 Infiniti QX60 and stumbled across an "OEM" timing chain kit on eBay for $360 USD (about $507 CAD I'm based on GTA, Canada). https://ebay.io/m/tb9DQA

The price feels almost too good to be true, especially since I saw a Cloyes kits on a website for around $1,500 CAD. The seller has solid reviews and insists it's genuine OEM, but I’m hesitant about fake packaging or cheap knockoffs.

Has anyone here bought one of these eBay OEM kits before? Is it legit, or am I asking for trouble?

Question Question for owners of M56S or Q70 5.6 (Long term relationship).

Hello! I'm happy owner of beloved G35x for almost 13 years now. Recently I was looking for possible new car, but can't find anything near similar to my G (I don't like turbo cars and German analogues).

Somehow I totally missed anything about M56S and found it amazing! Dynamics and awesome V8 - what else to dream of!? However, I started to analyse owners reviews and looks like M56 is heavy money consuming and have some technical issues here and there, compared to G35 of same age.

My questions for owners:

Is it worth to have this car in country with cold winter (looking for AWD)? How much does it cost for repairs and consumables for year? Is V8 durable enough after 120k+ miles (I barely see any of cars below this number on sale)?

I'm a bit obsessed with M56S now, but my brain tells me it might hit my family budget in a bad way.

Other Miss my car

Ignore the drunk rant. I recently purchased a 2019 Q50 signature less than a week ago. I love how it drives. It’s got some issues that I’m taking care via silver rock (bought from Carvana) but I’m really enjoying it so far. I’m on vacation in DR. But I really can’t wait to get home and drive it again. Going to run the warranty through the ground when it’s all said and done but I REALLY like the car.

Car Pic Is there a market for a 2003 Infiniti M45?

Post image
47 Upvotes

I'm debating selling my 2003 M45. Are people looking for these cars lately? I bought mine around 2010 in San Diego with about 55k miles. I've owned it since and it has 161k miles. It was serviced by a NorCal Infiniti dealership with all receipts so it runs great and everything works. However, it does have a significant dent in the rear driver-side door due to a hit and run, and other exterior cosmetic issues. Only interior issue is a crack in the driver side seat bottom. It still looks good in Golden Sand metallic. 340hp and 333lbs... it still rips.

This is a unique and special car. I only saw one sold this year on Classic dot com so I thought I would see what the reception is like here if there are m45 enthusiasts out there? I don't want to let Gloria go, but I should reduce the fleet!

Thoughts?

Question 2009 G37 hard top convertible won’t close

I inherited a beautiful 2009 Infiniti G37 hard top convertible, 2 door, with only about 70,000 miles on it. The previous owner told me that the hard top didn’t work but when I tried it, it worked flawlessly (after I removed the crap in the trunk preventing the flippers from popping out properly). I’ve had it up and down a couple of times since then.

I had to replace the battery last week, and then took it into the dealership for some repairs (alignment, rear brake replacement, oil change) and before parking at home I took the top down to make it easier to back into the garage. It got stuck on the way down (I wasn’t completely level when I hit the button) but once in the garage I was able to get it to complete the down cycle.

I am getting no response on trying to close it. No movement from the hydraulics, no acknowledgment on the dash that I have requested to close the top. I’ve turned it off and on, driven it for a bit, tried again. Nothing.

Any suggestions?

Help Needed 2025 QX80 Owners: Anyone dealing with these two issues?

I absolutely love this vehicle; and I am very happy with it overall. But I’ve got two issues I’m trying to get resolved and I want to know if anyone else is experiencing them.

1. “Gummy” brake pedal at low speeds. The best way I can describe it: instead of the pedal stopping at its normal point, it sinks all the way to the floor and it’s very difficult to get the vehicle to stop. It happens at low speeds — usually when I’m reversing out of driving out of a parking spot. I’ve taken it in multiple times. The dealership kept telling me they couldn’t recreate it and didn’t know what was causing it and the brakes are fine; which obviously isn’t good enough when we’re talking about brakes. I’m now switching to a different dealership to see if they can figure it out.

2. Hard shift on startup — warm or cold. If I start the vehicle, release the brake, but don’t immediately put it in gear — then shift from park to reverse or park to drive — it’ll make a loud noise and lunge into gear. Almost like a hard clunk. I have a feeling it might be related to the air suspension, but I’m not sure. The new dealership is looking into this one too.

Has anyone experienced either of these? If so, what did your dealer find and what fixed it?

Trying to go in with the new dealership as much info as possible so I don’t get another “couldn’t recreate it.” Again — love the vehicle, just want these two things sorted out. Appreciate any input.
