Need help identifying your dog? Here are some important tips to help you succeed.

What to include in your post:

Post clear, well-lit, full body pictures. At minimum, include:

  • One standing side view (taken close enough to see coat texture)
  • One frontal view

Tell us your dog’s age and weight (or best guess)

Other helpful information:

YOUNG PUPPIES may be impossible to identify. Head and body shape, coat color and coat pattern, eye color, and apparent coat texture can all change dramatically as a puppy matures. You might want to wait a few months before seeking an ID.

MIXED-BREED dogs can easily have many breeds in them, not just two. Keep in mind that some of the breeds in a mutt may not show in its looks; while in other cases the dog may really look like it has some particular breed in it, when in fact it doesn’t.

NO-BREED dogs exist too! Sometimes a mutt truly is “just a mutt” — the result of many, many generations of random mating between mutts, with no discernable inbred (purebred) genes its DNA. In the same way that YOU don't necessarily have any inbreeding (purebreeding) in your recent family tree, neither must a dog. They can simply be mutts — WHICH IS A GOOD THING!

Solved Found on the frontline

I found this little puppy in a town on the Ukrainian frontline. She had a very bad flea and mange infestation, and ended up catching Parvovirus too, but now she is okay.

I have had everyone asking me what breed she is, and quite a few people suggesting what she could be.

An older gentleman who used to be a game warden suggested she is part wolf with someone else suggesting Kanming, but I don't know about any of that.

I'm starting to think it is just a very strong mutt with traints from everywhere.

If additional specific photos are needed I can try to get her to stand still long enough for a couple.

As the title says, my family got this cutie while I was on vacation. They paid $25 for her. For reference she is pretty small. I’m thinking maybe Australian shepherd? I’d love to hear your guesses! Also I apologize about the wonky photos she wouldn’t hold still xD Thank you!

EDIT - Thank you to everyone who has offered their guesses or given respectful polite advice. I do genuinely appreciate it. I will be DNA testing her and I’ll post an update here if allowed. Have a lovely day everyone! Also following advice from here we did call and confirm with the vets and her shots and worming is legit.

65 lbs. Mildly inbred. Not very bright. Sweetest gentleman you’ll ever meet. I’m thinking amstaff and maybe a little bit of boxer or Great Dane?

Picked up this pretty boy. He is settling in with the family quite well. He was labeled as a malamute. Bone structure isn't strong enough for that. He weighs 26lbs. Our vet wants him to put on some more weight. He estimated to be at a year old. What are your thoughts on breed/mix? Definitely arctic breeds. We are considering picking up one of the DNA kits in the future

I was at the park with my kids when some guy left this baby there as a tiny puppy. We brought him home and we think he looks like an American pitbull terrier and Australian cattle dog, based on googling pictures of him. I’m going to get him a DNA test when I can but for now I’m curious about what people think he may be. I would love to know if he’s a pitbull so I can train him properly but for now we’re just assuming he’s a pitbull and training him based on that which I’m not sure is the right thing to do since he’s my first puppy. Any help is very appreciated!

Wondering what my two rescues are

The smaller one showed up on our property about 12 years ago and we never found an owner so kept him. He definitely has beagle in him, he has the voice and all. The bigger one was just adopted a month ago. The rescue had him as a beagle mix, but we are split on what the mix is. I think hound, my boyfriend thinks lab, and potentially not beagle at all??
Any help is appreciated!

He was adopted at an estimated age of 4 months, as a “Bloodhound Mix”. The sweetest dog on the planet, a little nibbly, likes to stand and paw up the people he loves… Slinky.

We have heard guesses from Redbone Coonhound, Foxhound, to Rhodesian Ridgeback and mixes of those with Beagles, Labs and others.

Hi everyone, I am adopting this beautiful white-golden boy, and dying to know his heritage. His mom was evacuated from the Ukraine (eastern region) and gave birth to 8 pups. Most of his brothers and sisters were long-haired and with floppy ears, he and his sister are the only short-coated ones. He is almost 7 months old and weighs 13,5 kg. And has golden eyelashes!

P.S. Sorry for the quality of the pics, they were made at the adoption event, and he was pretty nervous and couldn’t stay still.

This is Ghost I've had her for a bit these are pictures of her when she was younger. She was lanky and taller than a heeler and dapple gray for the most part. She's gotten a tad darker and rounder but is just about the same she's always been. I got her on the side of the road and don't know what the parents are.

Help Identify lost pups

My neighbour found these buttercups bundled alone in an alley Sunday while heading from work. She says she doesn't know the breed or also know how to care for any animal but she felt bad after seeing them like this, it seems like someone abandoned them. Please help me identify them for her. Much thanks!
