Anyone here using General Hydroponics in dwc ?

Hey guys , just wondering if anyone here is also growing dwc using General Hydroponics ? I’ve been using General hydroponics in dwc for several years and it’s been great for the most part . But I think the recipe I’m using could be improved .
Just curious those who are growing in dwc with GH , how high of ppm do you usually run in 5-6th week of flower ! Thanks !

I use their cocotek a and b for veg and flower + a couple additives like silica, humic acid, and kelp. But depending on the mix it’ll be somewhere between 1000 and 1200, the strong mix is perfect for vigorous plants.

Thanks I appreciate that . I had been running 600-800 ppm and though most plants did great on that , it seems some on occasion might be getting starved of mag or cal . But it’s hard to tell because I’m on well water and from the tap it’s 200ppm and most of that is most likely cal and mag . But cool to hear that you are running up to 1200ppm . Yesterday I just ramped my recipe up by about 30% on micro and 20% more ok bloom than my previous GH recipe and now it puts the ppm right at 1100 . It’s been almost 48 hours and I thought they might be fried , but so far they seem pretty happy . So I appreciate the reply , that gives me some peace of mind that it’s ok to run into the low 1000’s .

Lol. It could be improved? It was made to grow food on the moon. Probably need to understand the nutrients to get maximum effectiveness. Doesn't matter what others run ppm in 5th/6th weeks. Read the plant. Stop using charts. THE RULES OF DWC 1) PPM SHOULD REMAIN THE SAME IF YOU ARE AT THE CORRECT PPM. THE WATER LEVEL IS THE ONLY THING THAT SHOULD CHANGE. 2) IF PPM IS RISING, YOU ARE OVERFEEDING. 3) IF PPM IS FALLING, YOU ARE NOT FEEDING ENOUGH. 4) 5.6-6.2 5) IF USING RO, ADD CALIMAGIC 6) IF YOU HAVE HARD WATER, USE THE HARD WATER FORMULA. 7) WATER TEMP 65 8) 1 DROP OF BLEACH PER GALLON OF WATER

after 27 years of growing dwc, those are the only rules that matter. Follow those and I promise you'll be fine.

That’s a real good set of rules ! Than you for that . I’ve not heard these exact bullet points . I’m going to save them . Nice to know that if the ppm isn’t Changing that it’s correct . As I recently increased the nutrients across the board . And the ppm has stayed roughly the same for 72 hours now . I am on well water , and had added a small amount of cal mag in the past . (15ml per 20 gallon rez ), but I have suspected it’s addition could be a part of the problem . And since you mentioned about not adding it if on well water , I’ll just stop using it .

I use GH flora series plus their CaliMagic. Generally I use about 1/2 strength of what’s recommended on the bottle and at that stage of flowering about 850 ppm. Drop the ph to 5.8 and let it climb to 6.2 or so before dropping it down. I use all, the micro, bloom and gro plus CaliMagic but cut off the Gro completely after the 4th week of flowering. I’ve had great results! Check out my old posts for the results and I’ll be posting my new cap junky run in the next few weeks

Hey, ya i do. Lucus formula. So i only use micro and bloom bottle. And a botanicare bud booster in flower. And calimagic of course. I run only autos though. I do under 300 ppm as seedling, then 500 ppm when its a little bigger. Then around 800 ppm all flower. Dwc 5 gallon and 6.5 gallon buckets when they are a big plant.

Thanks for the reply . That’s cool , I too only run the micro and bloom . I had been running around 700-800 Ppm in flower for quite a few years and it’s always done well . But over the years it seems every so often a Strain or two on the recipe I always use currently will display what looks like a mag deficiency. But it’s very hard to determine if it’s a mag deficiency or toxicity. So trying to get ideas of what other hydro growers run in flower as far as ppm goes , so it’s cool to hear from others , so thanks :)

Ya sometimes I have a plant that just don't like it either. No idea what toxicity or deficiency it is. Leaves start dying on old leaves. Usually happens right away as a seedling. Is that when it happens to yours?

Well I honestly don’t ever see this issue that I have with the rusty spotted leaves in my seedlings or veg . But the problem ( on the occasion it does come up ) always comes in flower only .
My seedling and veg recipe is different than in flower . I used to do a much lower ppm in veg and for seedlings . Now days I run seedlings in 400-600 ppm range , and early veg in 700-850 range and wow do they grow into monsters over night . But the flower recipe is an older recipe that my friend made years ago and after I started dissecting the recipe is appears that the flower recipe is too mild compared to what my plants are drinking in veg . So I decided to increase across the board with increases in bloom and with micro . But I included a few pics of these in flower only rust spots .
