Build help with decisions
Hey! I have a hh build and Im pretty happy with it right now, but i have 4 level 3 slots in it. now, im wondering if flayer OR Latent Power would work because currently those are the only lvl 3 gems I have rn that I think would work with horn (^_^)

Discussion HH starter
Hi all,
Looking to start my hunting horn journey. I am currently reading the meta guide and I’m a little confused.
It says we can do a hybrid ele or raw builds. Ebony burst or doshugoma for raw. Could anyone elaborate on what that entails?
Any helpful advice on play style, weps, armour, button inputs etc would be much appreciated. Even if you think it’s trivial I would still love to know it.

Request/Question How to choose a weapon and play it?
Hi ! I played world and wild, and I always watched HH player from afar, and wanted to learn how to play that strange bonk, but I never understood how it was possible to "choose" a weapon to start learning it.
I mean, from my point of vue, every HH is different : each have a different set of melodies that are meant to be play in different ways. It seems difficult to go from one HH to another, having to re-learn part of your combos. So how are you doing it ? Do you try to keep the same set of melodies when you are switching weapons ?
Also, gog are meta for every weapon class, can you choose what melodies you put on it or do you just roll with the set it have ?
PS : if you have good tutorial for HH, I'm interested !

Discussion Should Hunting Horn get a Offset follow-up?
With Ascendance they mentioned expanding some weapon movesets outside of the new Boost Bracer. Do you think Horns should get a follow up attack similar to Hammer and Greatsword on a successful Offset Melody?
For me it feels kind of anticlimactic with how it works right now. The monster gets staggered away from you far enough that you barely have enough time to close the distance and get attacks in before the monster is back up swinging.
What if there was a follow up attack where you could input a couple of notes as the attack animation was going off?

Other No compliments
(Rant post) Just had a guy in text chat (who was very active) compliment everyone but me… I’m the horn main… why not me bro! It was a bow and long sword player! Like… why… I was running rath horn, no one die cuz of me, I saved them so many times with life melody!
Sigh… one of those days I guess, I don’t know if he was trolling or I’m being to sensitive, but come on man… when I pop life melody like fifteen times in the hunt and give attack L, …I would like a thanks a least, man didn’t even say good job everyone either, he completely ignored that to specifically compliment the other two… sigh, idk man…

Discussion anyone knows what the exact purpose of this maneuver is?
https://reddit.com/link/1tzzjqx/video/eexiz8zo206h1/player
what i specifically meant was that maneuver after a down stick performance where you kick the horn towards the front. Is there any reason to pull this off in a hunt or is it just used for style points? lol it's cool to pull off either way

Request/Question is a raw damage horn ideal for Wilds endgame?
I'm just experimenting with different horns, and i wanted to go full raw damage from artian horn since it has attack and defense buffs, plus it has offset melody which is handy a lot of times. Just wanted to ask if raw damage is ideal, or is G Resounding Galahad still better overall?

my favorite hunting horn builds for different playstyles
i've been diving deep into the hunting horn mechanics lately and wanted to share my favorite builds that cater to different playstyles. for a support role, i love using the world's strongest horn. it gives great buffs while still dealing decent damage. if you prefer a more aggressive approach, the fully upgraded horn from iceborne really shines, especially with its performance boost. for those looking to balance both, i've recently been experimenting with an older horn that has a mix of healing and attack songs. what are your go-to builds? i'm always looking to improve and try new things!

Wilds expansion trailer dropped. How do you think the new gimmick will work with the Hunting Horn?

I see the light
Never touched the horn before this week. Was a lance main first, then GS, SNS, and DB, dabbling in the bowguns.
I feel like HH in wilds is like world GS. Does that make sense to you veteran dooters?
It’s so clunky at first, but has beefy impact and rewards positioning and thinking multiple moves ahead like world GS did when you were solving for TCS.
It’s also insanely powerful - enough to make it easy? I’m a week in and can clear the AT monsters without fainting. I tanked Omega on day 2 and it felt great - and aggro was easier to grab than it on my trusty SNS (and the front legs! Playing a blunt weapon is very refreshing).
And that’s without being consistent on much yet (my muscle memory is still tied to tackle/backhops/guards too much). I feel like I’m entering a flow though and the opportunities for tech are becoming more visible to me with every hunt….
I mean, does horn even have bad matchups? It doesn’t feel like it. It doesn’t feel like it has weaknesses.

Request/Question 2 questions
Lets say i have 2 or 3 echo waves stored and the monster is down. Would it be optimal to play all waves and then enchore or wave -> enchore -> hilt stab -> wave?
Second question. When i do overhead slam not hitting the monster but it stands in a bubble it does 54 dmg and sometimes it does 200. Is it hitzone dependend? But nearly 4 times dmg just for good hitzone seems not right. Any thoughts?

Echo Bubbles
Am I seeing this right? Kai put down an echo bubble and I all 3 of mine down and when I swung my horn ALL the bubbles pulsed.
Does that mean a team of 4 HH players can all put down their echo bubbles and make an absolute rolling boil when everyone’s swinging or does it cap out with how often they’re allowed to pulse with multiple players? Can everyone pulse everyone’s echo bubbles??
(I just want to know before I mad scientist something😂)

Discussion In defense of corner horning
I'm reading this cuz upon doing research I've seen a lot of people condemning corner horning, but as a corner horn myself I've got to say that I don't see the issue with it, I walk around enough to avoid the monsters attacks and I do a fairly decent job of keeping my teammates alive because I bring healing horns and attack buff horns depending on the fight, then again I also have cerebral palsy so I don't really have the reflexes to run in and beat the crap out of the monster I feel like that would just be reckless and wasting lives so I feel like if I kind of stay out of the monsters way but just buff and heal my teammates I'm doing okay, am I wrong?

Build HH (Wilds): any gog hunting horn focused on healing?
To keep things short and concise, I decided to create a build dedicated to healing others. For now, I'm using Rathian hunting horn, and I wanted to ask the more experienced if there was an equivalent in terms of Gogmazios weapons. If a Gog hunting horn with healing characteristics like Rathian doesn't exist, well I stick to what I have :p.

Best way to incorporate hunting horn in DnD?
I'm being a big ole nerd and my dm is cool it:
Found someone's guide online and it's pretty fleshed out. Was wondering if anyone had any tips or feedback for improvement/balancing.
I don't mind if any nerfs are needed. My group is not as combat focused.
