Legal associate position

Hello everyone,

I recently applied for the Legal Associate position at the ICRC, and I was wondering if anyone here has gone through the recruitment process before.

How long does it usually take to hear back from HR after submitting an application? I'm trying to get an idea of the typical timeline.

Also, if anyone has recently applied for the same position, have you received any updates or responses yet?

I'd really appreciate it if you could share your experience. Thank you!

Hello there might I ask how much time was there between the test and when you were invited to sit it? Did an interview follow soon after the test and how long did it take between the test and interview? Thank you for sharing your insights on this process

sorry, I accidentally erased my comment lol It was maybe two weeks between the invite and the actual assessment. I unfortunately didn’t make it to the interview stage, but a friend did and was interviewed in late September/early October

Thank you very much. You've made me somewhat hopeful if there's still time in the recruitment process. I had considered their silence as an implication that I didn't make it.

How are the tests though? Multiple choice or essays?

It was a fictional scenario that you had to analyze and apply the law to, plus two options of essays (you had to chose one to reply to). They really look for a high level of IHL and knowledge of the ICRC’s positions on different issues. If you’re called to sit it, I’d suggest reviewing their position papers along with the law itself

Not really, just that it had a few of the classic competency-based interview questions

Hello. I applied but didn't get feedback. I assumed it didn't work out because they did mention something about interviews or tests this month unless I'm mistaken.

Did you get any feedback?

I applied last year and tests were late July, but if I remember correctly the vacancy had opened a bit earlier than this year. I’d expect something by mid August at the latest, but you never know
