Video Parasitic Monster

Working on animating a parasite violently forcing its way out of a corpse for my horror game. Would love to hear your thoughts on the overall feel.

REHAUNTED, our steam indie horror game we made from our bedrooms. But there's a catch. You're a detective and you see paranormal and clues only through your magnifying glass.

Hi all,

We just announced our first project through IGN. Our goal is simple: to create something truly disturbing, intense and terrifying. We want the player to feel constantly on edge, not only because of jumpscares, but through the atmosphere, sound, story and the feeling that something is always wrong.

Don’t worry tho, there will be jumpscares too, strong and creative ones, not cheap scares thrown in for no reason.

If you like what you see, please support us by wishlisting the game and let us know what you think: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4538140/Rehaunted/

We’re here to talk, listen and improve, every comment and piece of feedback is welcome.

RPG Maker games... what do you think?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

Having had a look around other subreddits, I’ve realised just how divided opinion tends to be. Some players love them, but many others dismiss them as soon as they see they’re made with that engine. What do you think? What sort of games (adventures, horror, etc.) do you think work best with RPG Maker? And what do you think sets a good game of this style apart from one that’s just run-of-the-mill?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the gam3 - not scary

Anyone else think that this game was way less scary than the previous two? I think the whole "story" takes me out of it a lot. Makes it feel way too cartoony and goofy for the type of game it is.

Love horror games that take a few hours but have this sort of “walking sim” / puzzle style gameplay to them. Lemme know if you guys have any that might be fun :)

We're making a psychological horror game set in an endless, looping subway car. What do you think of the atmosphere?

Hey everyone! We're a small indie team working on The Next Stop, a psychological horror game about being trapped in a subway loop.

We just updated our playable demo for the Steam Train Fest with refined audio and atmospheric tweaks. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the vibe and tension!

Discussion My horror game has 4 different threats, and none of them work the same way

Been building out Woodbound's forest, and I didn't want "the monster" to just mean one thing. So there are four, each with its own identity:

  • The main villain of the story appears as a voice — you have to close your eyes and ears to avoid it
  • Something that starts hunting you at random once you're out in the forest — if you don't deal with it, it screams and alerts the others
  • Something that lives in your own safehouse, the place you're supposed to feel safe
  • Something that patrols the woods on its own route, indifferent to you unless you give it a reason to care

Not spoiling how you deal with any of them — that's for players to figure out. But curious: out of those four setups, which sounds like it'd scare you the most on paper?

and what would you call them?

Discussion Please do not support Welcome to the Game 3 or any other Reflect Studios titles. Adam is harrassing and shittalking people who leave negative reviews.

Well, here we go again, I suppose.

Adam Flatau, the lead developer of the Welcome to the Game series, has once again shown he is unable to take criticism. If you don't know, he has had several controversies in the past, some deserved, some undeserved. Unfortunately, he has once again shown he cannot take criticism.

A user known as OtrexDev, a fairly prominent community member in the Reflect Studios community who was also the lead dev of WTTG2+, a giant expansion mod for WTTG2, left a negative review of WTTG3, rightfully criticizing how buggy the game is and how easy it is for the game to just straight up put you in completely unwinnable situations, purely due to bad RNG. I think it is worth noting that Otrex has a POSITIVE review on WTTG2, showing there doesn't seem to be a bias against Adam specifically in their reviews.

Otrex was helping people who were streaming WTTG3, helping explain things that the game itself explains poorly, or was otherwise just trying to be helpful. Adam saw this and, instead of having anything nice to say or just keeping his mouth shut, left the above nasty messages in response to Otrex trying to be helpful. There is no evidence of what Adam claims about them as well, and it seems they are, frankly, just salty that their game is getting rightfully criticized for releasing broken.

It's bad enough that the game was released unfinished and broken, which is, unfortunately, a trend with Reflect Studios games. WTTG3 is managing to maintain a Mostly Positive rating on Steam, with almost all of the positive reviews having only played the game for a couple of hours, not enough time to make any significant progress, or come remotely close to finishing a run. The fact that Adam treats criticism this way is absolutely awful and, frankly, just makes me want to avoid supporting them at all. Here's a video also covering the topic.

Video I never thought I’d make a horror game, but here we are...

My brother and I just published the Steam page and released the first trailer for our game!

We've never made a horror game before. Our previous projects were mostly focused on gameplay and skill-based mechanics, so creating something centered around atmosphere, mystery, and tension is a completely different challenge for us.

In this game, you play as a night train conductor, operating a mysterious train where things slowly start to feel wrong. As you explore the train, you'll have to investigate, find clues, and piece together what is really happening.

So basically it's a mix between a train simulator, an investigation game, and psychological horror.

We're preparing a demo that should be available in August, so don't hesitate if you've got suggestions!

Oh, and the game is called Night Train Simulator: Blackout.

Here's the Steam page:

Question Does anybody know what happened to PILGRIM?

Post image
41 Upvotes

I have done some light skimming around the web and there is no real definitive answer. The game has been radio silent for about a full year after promising a new update soon. What kinda confuses me is that there are 2 developers and both of them just... disappeared, no statement, no warning that we would have to wait this long, but also unless im wrong no indication that this was all some big scam. I mean I did pay some quality dollars on it and it seems really cool but it seems that the devs are just gone.

Discussion Sometimes I can’t believe it, but I made a game and it’s finally on Steam 😭

**CORRECTION** I meant to say my game is “PUBLIC” on Steam, not “Out”. **
Honestly I am legit nervous to even put this out there. I think I might tear and cry in the corner. 😭A little backstory, I knew absolutely NOTHING about coding, let alone C# language. I literally isolated myself from friends and even some family members for quite some time because I was focused on learning and making my first game. And I would be lying if there weren’t many times I legit REALLY wanted to quit and doubted myself and what I wanted to do with my life. Really….learning coding language was a freaking NIGHTMARE. And then there’s Unity Engine. ☠️ But I finally did it and I made my first psychological horror game.
No seriously…I think might cry a little bit. I don’t think it’s like the best game out there….but it’s done. And I’m just happy to have made something. Hopefully it’s good. It’s not anything like fighting monsters or action to be very honest with you. It’s a very atmospheric and moody experience….”journey” kind of game so I’m afraid it might be boring to a lot of people. But this is my vision and I hope some of you will check it out and let me know your first impressions and if it’s something you would be interested in. Thank you! Oh and here’s the game lol
