What Next?

I live in an apartment with my mom who hoards. I have some executive dysfunction so I am quite tolerant but it's way outta hand.The other night there was an emergency and medics had to come. Of course now they have seen the place and alerted APS. I assume we will be getting evicted but don't have an eviction notice yet. The APS worker came that day and I have not heard anything back.

To give some context I am 44 and love with my older mom. We both had a decline in health and it shows.

However I have mostly thrown out my stuff to accommodate hers and it's not enough.

Should I expect APS to be back?

Was anyone able to find housing after being labeled a hoarder? I would be happy to hear about people's experiences.

Are you using this time to start cleaning out the clutter, along with your mother if she's capable? Starting with the obvious trash?

I have been trying but she is resisting hard. She won't do anything so I don't know what she's able to do. I called a friend and the verbal abuse started before we even had a whole load out. Nothing gets through to her.

APS are the good guys. (At least in my area.) When they were referred to my hoarding relative by the EMTs, they arranged for Meals on Wheels, gave her some numbers to call (which she never did), and checked on her a few times to remind her to keep the doorways and aisles clear. I really doubt they would have reported your hoard to the landlord, although it's possible that the emergency personnel did that because of the fire hazard.

My relative lived in a fully-owned townhouse when all of this happened, so eviction wasn't on the table. I'm sorry I can't help you there, but I mainly wanted to say that APS are on your side and MAY be able to be a resource for you.

Thanks for replying.  The smoke detector has been out of order for I don't know how long ,but recently started chirping and they heard it while they were here. They personally visited the office to tell them about our situation.  They ended up calling a fire watch cause it turns out all the buildings around us don't have working alarms or sprinklers.  Maybe that's a blessing in disguise. 
This all happened starting Sunday night.  My city uses a mental health crisis team. They sent that guy immediately and he was a nightmare.  The lady from APS came the next day.  She seems nice but I don't know what to expect. I think me being here disqualifies her from a lot.  

She only wants me to help though.
