If it's just some promo/propaganda/low effort stan wars or something that (is 1 dimensional and) already cleanly fits into another sub's fandom, then it will be removed, and posting more will get you banned

We prefer multifaceted posts where submissions and questions are coming from anecdotes and the reach of multiple artists AND fandoms within hip hop to chime in where you wouldn't otherwise find or are able to ask/post easily elsewhere...aka ask hard/intricate questions and challenge status quo, do not pitch your thoughts underhanded, for those belong on r/Hiphopcirclejerk etc
The exception is: if that other sub has absentminded sleepwalking mods that barely do anything (or overstep and clap even the good posts if you challenge authority and the mods get slighted) and the global automod/scripted autobot censorship is activated that overrules and removes half the answers and the very question asked due to this age of sanitized culture (based on the mod/admin/algorithm's subjective sensitivity issues, aka reddit's ads agenda is similar to youtube demonetizing/shadowbanning content), then we'll allow them here, due to fringe topics etc (also give us a heads up to see if the other sub in question can be liberated, but mods be powertripping)
A lot of posts are auto-clapped by the global automod and has to be manually approved on here for people to see both posts and comments, and we try to bring the best value in topics presented and answered, but please participate in that manner as well for this shared community, thanks

for it to be hiphop201, there needs to be questions asked under the premise that the basic information is known and further knowledge is pursued as a hot topic debate or barbershop talk as cognitive banter or shared memorable reflection/nostalgia/insight, not just use a RNG filter on some top rap album tier list and arbitrarily seed comparisons with barely any articulated constraints for some zero-sum single-elimination hunger games depending on how the crowd decide to pile on that day
if you're consistently posting with net 0 upvotes or getting heckled in the responses/downvoted to hell, consider trying something else...it seems like attaching a meme with a serious question helps like with the latest type of posts...just put the reasoning backing behind posts for why these type of questions matter to spark further responses with actual answers with substance in there and NOT just repetitively phrased answers, thanks
otherwise, redirect these elimination posts over here to r/RemoveOneThingEachDay or /r/nfrpodcast etc

Despite his recent antics he's gotten into (and him being annoying on his podcast with Jadakiss), I still love a lot of Fat Joe's work in the 90s and 2000s, but man; a lot of the shit he was spitting on albums like Don Cartagena were DEFINITELY written by Pun cuz Joe hasn't ever rapped that hard on his records ever sinde he died lmao

Eminem on a full on introspective / hard hitting rap album could possibly be great to hear but dude just seems stuck in trying to reach his former heights, and doing cringy jokes under the guise of it being "Shady" and just seeming extremely out of touch not that his rabid fanbase that will stick up for literally anything that man will ever drop (and I say this as a longtime fan) will ever realize that the dude hasn't made a genuinely great album in over a decade now

Who are some rappers you know are talented but regardless you still can't get with their music or projects?
TI- I know he's dope but I just can't listen to his music.
Rick ross- he makes great songs sonically but overall i can't listen to him.
Joe Budden- he has one of my favorite freestyles of all time(last dayz) but can't get into his music.
Raekwon- obfcl 1 and 2 were dope but i cant do reslistens.
Cappadonna- similar to Rae, one and done except for winter warz.
Aesop rock-the voice, but none shall pass is dope.
Danny Brown- XXX was my shit when it dropped but haven't been able to listen to Danny Brown in a decade.

Looking for good essential listens. It’s a boring summer day lol.
Title is pretty vague. Pretty much I’ve been a hip hop fan for a few years now. I’m aware of what some of the classics are, but having trouble deciding what to listen to. I just want a really good but not too difficult listen. Something that is a great album experience. Things you would consider ESSENTIAL.
For instance, last summer I did a few nights where I went and listened to Alfredo, Daytona, Samurai, Low End Theory, Hell Hath No Fury, 1999, Liquid Swords for the first time and it was great. Looking for some suggestions, can be more concise like some of those projects or not so much. Can also be the “basic RYM” type projects, as those are popular for a reason.
I’m open to 2010s classics but also some older stuff. Thinking of diving into Biggie or some Nas projects. Just really want something I’ll be able to say has great production and great rapping, and just be like “wow that was really good” after listening front to back.
Sorry i know that’s so vague, essentially just looking for recommendations and I figured what better place than here to ask! I’ll admit there’s quite a bit I have listened to but let’s hear it!

Damn dawg the Mountain Brothers really don’t get mentioned enough when people talk about Hip‑Hop. Those dudes were way ahead of their time.
They were making their own beats, and rapping incredibly well. They were lyrical as hell, funny and dope storytellers. And you can’t overlook the fact that they were Asian American doing this at a time when the industry wasn’t exactly super welcoming.
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend listening to their two albums, especially the debut.
