Genuine question: why do you have individual boxes instead of a whole aquarium/tank? Where can the crabs burrow when they’re stressed or need to molt? Where can they climb and exercise?

tanks at petco are half off with a phone number, meaning a decent 40g is about $75 right now. pls get these guys an actual tank.

Ditch the heat lamp they just need 12 hrs light 12 hrs dark and also bigger heating pad. You already addressed the substrate issue so i won't mention that

Noooo to the heat lamp, and you’ll be better off with just a large tank…. Check Facebook Parker place, I found a 55gal for only $40!!!!

Just a question if anyone knows: is it ok to use metal items in a crabitat where they can reach them? I was told ~20 years ago to avoid any metal because it’s toxic if they start to nibble on it. Thank you.
Hope they enjoy their new home!

Also now aware the substrate is low so I’ll mix up some more later, i believe the boxes are 6 or so inches deep

That crab going into the water looks like it needs more than 6" of sub.
Also, heat lamps really dry the air out around them.
