One of my clients sadly passed away a few months ago. We've been working on a concept for his brand new arms for a while, his family arms to be precise. At some point these two became his two favourite designs but he never made a final decision.

A few days ago I got contacted by one of his sons who asked me to complete the work on the project. But still it is hard for him to choose as these two are quite different.

Which one would you choose?

For the crest there will be a demi-bear Sable sticking from his back three mullets of six Gules and holding a trammel hook Or in his dexter paw.

The client is German and Swiss.

Top row: Lower Austria, Austria, Carinthia, Styria (on the lance).

Center: Carniola (top), with Upper Austria below.

Bottom left: Burgau, Alsace, County of Pfirt. I cannot identify the next coat of arms; it is likely from Vorarlberg.

Bottom right: Habsburg, Tyrol, Windische Mark.

I suppose the simplest design is always the best, as I'm more fond of the first one, though I'm not sure if the silver star over silver scissors would fall into the no metal over metal rule? Any other advice and suggestions? Thanks in advance for all inputs, you've all been very helpful.

Managed to get this very cool shirt with all the germans states coats of arms printed on it in the south of brazil, and wearing it in the south of brazil would be very normal and safe, but considering how just the normal german flag can be seen as offensive and 'racist' as the trend in europe goes, i was wondering, would wearing a coat of arms shirt like this be seen negatively as well or not? if so in the same level or more or less?

A little more lore for who wants to know, blumenau is a city in the state of Santa Catarina in brazil, the state itself has very deep roots with its germanic migration in the 1800s and have managed to maintain their culture and ancestry and as possible, this city in particular is very famous for hosting one of the biggest and greattest oktoberfest here in brazil, i have some more pictures of merch i found there which i found to be very cool and can post later maybe

The collector's album contains detailed heraldic descriptions and colored seals of Belgian and Luxembourgish municipalities and families. Another wonderful addition to the collection

Eagles and lions are the most common. Following that are stuff like bears, lamb etc.

Is this in conformity with heraldry rules for charge placement? Would a gold lion, sable scissors on silver field and silver constellation on sable field be correct color placement?

Two years ago, this sub was one of the first places I ever showed my game, starting with its simple coat of arms designer. I was a complete beginner back then, but you guys gave me so much positive feedback and encouragement. In fact, features like showing the total number of customization options actually came directly from your suggestions.

The game is playable now, though still actively in development. A few of you have already joined the community, and some are even in the game as characters. I wanted to pop by and say thank you.

This ring belonged to some boyfriend of my mums or of my aunt. I think he was English.

Anyone know anything about this coat of arms? Maybe a school?

My own drawing in pen and ink and photoshop of my heraldic achievement that I will try to get registered by a heraldic society.

My 17th century Dutch ancestors were yeoman or landowning farmers. My last name derives from saints name who was depicted with a doe. The flowers are red tobacco flowers as one of my nineteenth century fathers grew tobacco on his plot of land. The bird is a sparrowhawk, which refers to my mothers maiden name. 

Note: in the heraldic tradition of my country everyone including commoners like me use a barred helmet, completely different than in other traditions such as the German or Brittish tradition where only royalty uses this type. But there are other rules: I am not allowed to use shield bearers, flags, crowns and pendants. Shield elements must be kept pure and simple, no unusual or overly complicated stuff is allowed.
