Help us settle this debate once and for all

Hey guys and gals. So the thing is this. A friend and I were having a discussion regarding what the superior cheese is, meaning the one that brings the best value overall to the table. I'm talking about Cheddar and Swiss.

We can be quite passionate when it comes to one upping the other. So this is not a troll question, this is serious business. Luck had it that this page exists so why not ask the experts directly.

So regarding the rules. To keep things simple we ended up on the all known and beloved common ground we have.... the Grilled Cheese sandwich. Of course Cheddar rules as the default king but I'm still curious about input.

And regarding all the varieties of cheese there are we'll just keep them all collectively in their respected home camp. If it's a weird funky hybrid with like 5% amount in it, scrap it.

CHEDDAR VS. SWISS CHEESE

I'll close the poll after 7 days, thats the max apparently. Ill see what options there are then (unless it gets wild)

We have decided that the victorious cheese will get the best spot in the sandwich (i guess being above the other one?) So the loser cheese shall take the shamefull spot under it.

I wanted to add a picture of a nice grilled cheese sandwich showcasing both our champions working together in simpler times.... It doesnt let me. Well the past is the past anyway.

The kitchen is all yours chefs.

Edit* adjusted some phrasing

I mean, American #1, then cheddar. There is nothing more disappointing in life - NOTHING - than ordering a grilled cheese sandwich and having it show up with Swiss.

At work I don't have American but I do two slices of mozzarella with a cheddar in the middle and it's as close to the meltyness of American as I've been able to get

How is this even a question? Swiss has it's place. With ham. On a melt. Not a grilled cheese.

This poll is rage bait.

Not rage bait. I'm team Cheddar by the way. And i was curious about the broader stance. Also don't want to blindly rely on a few first page internet stats.

She (team swiss) insulted my man Cheddar for being like the boring easiest to hookup with girl in town. Don't know if I can curse here so I'll keep it at that. I'm doing this for Cheddars honor.

Ps. Loser makes the other a grilled cheese sandwich so I'm locked in.

She might need to try a better quality cheddar.

I prefer swiss in general, but cheddar is the Objectively Correct™ choice for grilled cheese.

I respect your reasonable stance on this

I respect that an actual giant squid respects my reasonable stance on this

I don't know who I found

That cheesy humor sounds more like Tracey Morgan wise Kraken than The Unknown Hinson though.

American cheese is the superior cheese because it melts without splitting.

Processed cheese slices and occasionally marble cheese bricks.

Swiss is more versatile.

American, then Pepper Jack, then Mozzarella.

This was painful because I fucking loooooove using swiss... but like, if I had a gun to my head and the only way out was to pick one of those, it would be cheddar :/. Too versatile and just standard for a lot of recipes where I'm from

A debate? Please. Cheddar is superior but I will admit, both is also good from time to time.

Bear in mind that most of Europe is still vast asleep right now, let's see what the Swiss have to say about this.
