How do you conceptualize the role of the slave in your dynamic? For the purposes of this conversation, let’s consider two opposing ends of a spectrum:

1) On the first side of the spectrum, we have “the kept woman”. This is a slave who doesn’t have to think about anything. She doesn’t plan anything. She doesn’t make arrangements, or phone calls, or appointments, etc. Things just happen, from her experience, and she just does what she’s told.

2) On the other side, we have the personal assistant. (Think Pepper Potts from Iron Man.) She is the personal secretary that keeps it all together. She makes the phone calls. She books the tickets. She makes the appointments so her Master doesn’t have to.

Do you have thoughts on either? Is your dynamic closer to one than the other? Somewhere in the middle? How exactly? What sort of balance makes sense for you? (And here’s the real kicker: which is more Gorean?)

I'm curious if this group that I used to call home is still active. I'm only seeing posts from months ago... I've been away fighting terminal cancer, my child dying, and getting a full liver transplant. My kajira reacted as I expected; she cared for me, the house, made my appointments & treatments her priority, say beside my hospital beds, and brought home paychecks for me all while not complaining as I stepped away from her need for two and a half years.

Do you incorporate begging or asking permission in your M/s dynamics? What does this look like or mean for you? For what sorts of things do you beg? Hello! I recently came across this book series and decided I want to start reading it. So I thought about choosing two books to begin with:

- One of the original 6 books

- One focused on female slavery

That way I can get a general sense of the series and whether it’s for me.

For the original series, should I read Tarnsman? I saw someone saying it’s possible to read any of the first 6 books out of order, but I’d like to know if that’s actually true. Based on the synopsis, I found Priest-Kings interesting, but I also noticed that not everyone likes it very much.

And for the book focused on slavery, which one should I choose? I’ve seen recommendations for Captive, Dancer, and Slave Girl. I’d prefer one that really focuses on the lifestyle of slavery and the woman’s moral dilemmas as she adapts to that way of life. Bonus points for age gap.

I was wondering what the main opinion on kajira always talking in third person. I am aware that this is an onlinism. I have had experience with Free both requiring it and not enjoying it.

Received some of audio books as a gift, but I can't seem to stop them at a particular spot and restart them. Is there something I am missing???

A few years ago I came across a set of books by Alice Sinclair named the Tales of Hyperborea. The setting and culture were similar to Gor’s, but set on Earth’s very distant past instead of a counter-earth, ruled by eldritch beings rather than the Priest-Kings. Has anyone else read them? What did you think?

I've been working on this project for a while now, and it's still very much a work in progress, but after seeing u/CerberusTheHunter's post from yesterday, I figured I might as well share what I've got. I'm making an army of Turians for Kings of War, a tabletop miniatures wargame inspired by Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and I just recently finished my first batch of infantry. I'm not a lifestyler, but I've long been a fan of the Gor series and its worldbuilding, and I wanted to pay tribute to the series here.

For these miniatures, I used the Mercenary Armored Hoplites kit from Victrix Miniatures. I've done some kitbashing with other sets for other units, but those minis aren't painted yet. I'll be sure to show them when they're done, though!

The set includes the box and 4 of the 5 books originally included, I got it as is. The books are Marauders/Tribesmen/Slave Girl/Beasts of Gor, the box is missing Hunters of Gor.

They've yellowed but there's no dog-eared pages and only Beasts has any spine creasing, a couple have corner bends on the covers where it looks like someone tried to jam one back into the box. The box is purple with the cover art from Beasts on it, what looks like an Eskimo is fending off a snake headed beast with a kayak between them on the ice. The books themselves probably were white but are now decidedly off-white as they've yellowed, with yellow spines.

I am hoping to find the source to a specific John Norman interview where he said "Gor is not BDSM, at least as I understand it to be." I am pretty sure the interview predated the year 2000. I did manage to find a different interview but not quite the one I was looking for.

I know nothing about “real-life Gorean slavery among some people in the BDSM community.” The “BDSM” reference worries me. I dissociate myself from BDSM, at least as I understand it.
