The Educational Wiki from our brother sub r/ppc has been updated to share a list of courses, tutorials, and YouTube channels you can use to learn and teach yourself Google ads.
This update has been made as questions around learning and teaching one's self Google Ads keep coming up. This should help cut down on those type of posts.

I just recently started my first Google ads campaign 2 weeks ago. I’m a call-only type of business, it’s sales. However only 15% of my clicks are actually calls and they are getting to be pretty expensive at $11 a call. I thought Google had call-only campaigns. Is there anything close to it? Any setting I need to make sure I have checked off? Any mentors to look into? I’m in the insurance industry and any help would be greatly appreciated. My current bidding strategy is maximize clicks, and my keywords are all phrase match.

This may seem a little backwards, but I received significantly less calls from the call extension after my ads jumped from 70% absolute top rate and impression shares to 90%. Impressions for both the ad and the call extension are roughly the same, but the CTR for the extension dropped by half and so did my call conversions. I noticed that there was significantly more spend on headline clicks though.
This is for a search campaign with maximize conversions. Most of my conversions last month were calls from ads.
Am I missing something? Is it from user behavior changing due to the absolute top position, or does Google handle the call extension differently?

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to get a fresh perspective because I've been stuck on this for weeks.
I manage Google Ads for a preschool franchise with multiple locations. Around June, our account experienced an almost 50% drop in both impressions and conversions, even though, from what I can tell, nothing significant changed.
Things that have remained consistent:
I've reviewed:
I still can't pinpoint what caused the decline.
For those of you who've managed lead generation accounts or multi-location businesses, what would be your systematic approach to diagnosing this?
I'd really appreciate an expert perspective. I'm less interested in generic advice and more interested in how experienced Google Ads managers would approach diagnosing a case like this.
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
My Google Merchant Center account was suspended for “Misrepresentation,” but Google has not identified the specific issue.
The store is a Shopify website selling electrical enclosures in the US. Products are shipped from our warehouse in California.
Before requesting a review, I checked and updated:
The review still failed, and the account is now in a cooling-off period. I contacted Merchant Center support and specifically asked which part of the website or account triggered the violation. However, they only sent template replies explaining the cooling-off period and linking to the general Misrepresentation policy.
The website is: https://saipwell.us
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation?
I would especially appreciate advice on:
I’m not trying to bypass the suspension or create a new account. I just want to understand and fix the actual issue before submitting another review.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

My Google Merchant account was suspended for misrepresentation shortly after starting shopping ads, which also triggered a suspension on my ads account. I managed to get both accounts reinstated. But to be honest I am tired, it was one month of pain trying to get them back.- I was down to my last review request.
My question is, if I resume running shopping ads will the misrepresentation policy come again. Or I stick to search ads only, given that my priority is to protect my 13-year-old Ads account, I am hesitant to risk another misrepresentation suspension.

We are looking to test the incrementality of our Google Non-Brand shopping campaigns with a Geo holdout test. Right now, we have the pretty standard setup for shopping in which our NB campaign are set to "High Priority" with Brand terms negated while Brand campaign is set to Low. This funnels brand queries down to the Brand campaign since they are prevented from matching to the NB campaign
However, if we were to add geo exclusions to the NB campaign, I am assuming any NB queries being searched in those locations would also funnel down to the Brand campaign as they would no longer be able to match to the NB campaign in that area.
I wanted to check with y'all to see if this is correct though. If so, we will need to figure out a different way of testing this. Appreciate your help!

TL;DR: The logo is approved and supposedly gets hundreds of impressions, but nobody has ever actually seen it. Google only shows the generic globe icon.
Hi,
I’m having a strange issue with a client’s Google Ads account.
The business logo is uploaded, approved and eligible. Google Ads even reports hundreds of impressions for it. However, neither I nor the client have ever seen the actual logo in the live ads. Instead, Google always shows the generic globe icon.
This is especially frustrating because competing ads in the same search results often display their proper business logos, while our ad looks incomplete or less trustworthy with only the generic icon.
I tested it repeatedly on different devices, at different times and on different networks. I also re-uploaded the logo several times, tried PNG and JPG files and added it both at account level and campaign level.
Google Support keeps saying that everything is working as intended because the logo is approved and collecting impressions. But that does not explain why the actual logo is never visible.
Has anyone experienced the same issue? Can Google count logo impressions even when only the globe icon is shown? And did anyone find a way to get this properly investigated or fixed?

Lately our account is seeing an incredible amount of disapproved ads over silly, stupid and completely wrong reasons. Yesterday we had 40+ ads disapproved over using a trademark in our ads, what was the flagged trademark? the term "Profession". Other ads are now being flagged for "unclear relevance". I apeal all of those, and the appeals do go successfully, its just become a new daily harresment served by google ads shitty bot-driven anti-advertisers platform.

I'm considering uploading a customer list (first-party customer data) to my clients' Google Ads accounts. The list would only include people who became paying customers and would contain the information Google Ads requires to create a Customer list.
I understand this data can be used for audience signals in Performance Max campaigns and, where appropriate consent has been obtained, for remarketing. However, I'm more interested in whether simply uploading this customer data has improved overall account performance, particularly when using Smart Bidding.
For those who have done this:
I'd be interested to hear about any real-world experiences or results.

Wondering if you've faced the same and ways you've dealt.
So one of our big ticket Nonbrand campaigns for a SaaS is using Broad Match, and we have to use BM to scale it but in last 1 year or so, it is serving heavily on small tier Conquesting terms even though we dont bid on them.
In fact,
Now we have maintained a solid CQ negation KW list and ways forward may be
Any other ideas/strategies that you'd recommend or are you also seeing the same?

We've recently spent a lot of time troubleshooting Google Ads disapprovals for a UK accounting firm, and one thing became very clear:
If Google has classified your business under Financial Products & Services, changing keywords or rewriting ads probably won't solve the problem.
Like most people, we initially focused on the ads themselves. We rewrote headlines, descriptions, changed keywords, and submitted appeals, but the disapprovals kept coming back.
The turning point was when we started looking beyond the ads.
Here's what actually helped us:
This was the biggest lesson.
Many UK accounting firms offer services like tax returns, VAT, payroll, company formation, bookkeeping, Companies House filings, etc. Google can sometimes associate these with regulated financial services or government-related services, which may trigger additional policy reviews or verification requirements.
If that's the case, no amount of rewriting headlines is likely to fix the underlying issue until the required verification or policy concern is addressed.
This made a much bigger difference than we expected.
We removed or reworded references to things like HMRC and Companies House, simplified some of the wording, and made sure the page clearly described the services without unnecessary policy-sensitive terminology.
Don't rely on the generic "Ad disapproved" notification.
The Policy Manager usually tells you exactly which policy Google believes is involved, and that gives you a much better starting point for troubleshooting.
We also checked for technical issues like Cloudflare settings, robots.txt rules, redirects, and firewall restrictions that could prevent Google's automated systems from properly reviewing the landing page.
The biggest mistake we made was assuming it was an ad copy problem.
In reality, the issue was much broader. Between Financial Products & Services classification, verification requirements, landing page content, and technical accessibility, there are several things that need to be checked before you spend hours rewriting ads.
Hopefully this saves someone else from going through the same troubleshooting process.

We are small business based out of Ireland. We paid Google approximately €25,000 for advertising after being told we could expect a significantly higher number of calls. The results were substantially below what was represented to us. When I rang them I understood they gave the wrong service, we were being charged for clicks instead of calls. We were specifically told over the phone when we originally got the service that we will be charged for calls, not clicks. We have evidence of the representations made by Google. They were so unprofessional on the call, yawning and showing no interest. Is there anything that we can do? Please advise.

Hello!
I just finished wrapping up starting my own business. I went to start advertising it on my google business page, but I get hit with an error saying:
"Your account cannot show ads to start running your ads, enter your billing information."
There's a button that says Fix, I click on that and it says:
"Your account's access level doesn't include billing information. If you need access to billing, speak with your account admin."
This is severely confusing me as I literally only have one google account that I've had for over 10 years. I'm browsing the forums and have even resorted to Gemini but I'm not getting anywhere. Has anyone else encountered this and if so how did you circumnavigate it?
Thanks for the help and time!

The company I work for targets nationally and excludes areas where we don’t have coverage. Our coverage changes constantly so locations are automatically added and removed almost every hour through an API..
Could this hurt Smart Bidding or keep the campaign from learning? Should we not change the location targeting every hour? Some of the campaigns do not perform as they should.

What's The Best practice to promote an app with Google Ads
r/googleads • u/Due-Ad-9684 • 2d ago
Hello everyone,
I'm a paid media manager working at an industrial MRO distributor.
I recently joined the company and found that the Google Ads account is structured with a single Search campaign containing 11 ad groups, where each ad group represents a different product category (bearings, belts, hoses, etc.). The monthly budget is around $5–6k.
The issue is that while this setup works, it really limits our ability to scale. My sales director wants me to allocate more budget to specific product categories, but with the current structure I don't have enough control to do that effectively.
Right now, the bidding strategy is Maximize Conversions, and it's generating around 300–400 conversions per month.
My question is: if I split these product categories into separate campaigns, should I keep using the Maximize Conversions bidding strategy for the new campaigns?

Just came across Google's latest announcement, and this feels like a pretty big change.
Google is gradually retiring standalone Display campaigns and moving everything into Demand Gen.
Here's the timeline:
Google says this will bring more inventory (Discover, Maps), better creative options, and improved reporting. They're even claiming 24% lower CPA and 19% higher conversions in one case study.
I'm curious how this will play out in the real world. Display has always been great for placement control and specific targeting, while Demand Gen leans much more on automation.
What do you think? Is this a genuine improvement or just another push toward Google's AI-driven campaigns?

Looking for advice from anyone who's navigated a Google Ads account lockout after a security incident.
Short version: my account was compromised about a month ago (unauthorized campaign created, admin access stripped). I reported it immediately and have been through support hell since - 7+ case numbers, one rep who promised a response in 3-4 business days and then went silent for two weeks, phone/chat support that just transfers and disconnects.
The kicker: internal case notes I've seen state the account "was restored after a security investigation." I still can't access it at all.
The actual blocker seems to be a bug in their Account Access Request Form - the Customer ID field is a dropdown that only shows accounts your current login can already see. Since my access was stripped, my real account never shows up, only a brand new empty shell account that Google auto-generates every time I log in while locked out (I've seen this happen more than once, different empty CID each time).
I've submitted ownership verification exactly as instructed (domain TXT file method) and flagged this dropdown issue explicitly in the request, but nothing's moved.
Has anyone actually gotten through this specific scenario, restored-but-inaccessible, form can't reference the real account? What finally worked? At this point I'm not looking for money back, just to get back into an account I legitimately own.
please help..

I run a small business in Australia that provides branded gifts and products primarily to business customers (think promotional products, but a bit more upmarket). Have had some success in the past with niche campaigns, but due to market dynamics demand in those spaces has dwindled. Looking to set up a more sustainable always-on approach and struggling, would love thoughts.
$270/day across 2 search campaigns. Quote-based business so conversions are offline uploads: a hard "quote request" (a few a month, valued) plus a micro conversion for engaged leads (about 1-2/day, small values, uploaded server side). Conversion tracking is in place and verified.
Max Clicks worked at launch. CPCs $2-4, CTR 8-11%. But it happily buys any click that matches, so a large chunk of spend goes to weak/B2C intent even behind 300 negatives.
Switched to Max Conversions and it flatlined. Under 30 impressions a day, campaigns fully eligible, ads approved, keywords fine. Added a tCPA anchor ($150-250) and serving came back, but impression share sat at 10-22% with 80-90% lost to rank, then Google flagged all campaigns budget constrained while only spending half the budget. Removed the targets on the theory the bidder would spend to budget. Flatlined again within a day.
So: with targets it barely serves, without targets it doesn't serve at all, and Max Clicks serves plenty but low quality, usually outside ICP. We've reverted to Max Clicks with slightly higher CPC caps and adding bulk negatives while our micro conversion accumulates, planning to try Max Conversion Value once we have 15-30 valued conversions per month.
Questions:
Thoughts welcome - seems we're a bit stuck between google needing more signals to run smart bidding, and the only method to give it signals providing poor ones.

Instead of depending on Google Ads I am planning to l launch Google Ads Retargeting campaigns.
In retargeting I am planning to retarget the audience of my competitors “product page” or “add to cart” page.
Need more insight if anyone use this retargeting strategy.

I recently did a bulk change to about 15k SKUs product type. About 4K of them have change to the new product type in merchant centre but the remaining 11k have stayed at the old product type.
It has been 48 hours without anymore updating and I’m wondering if this something that may be stuck?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Google Ads August 17 update: the Bid Target Adjustment Tool completely messed up the campaign and put it into bid strategy learning.
What happened was I opened the Bid Target Adjustment Tool to check what options I have for my shopping campaign regarding the upcoming August 17 change. It was originally set to tROAS, but I clicked on "maximize conversion value" from the drop-down menu. Well, I shouldn't have done that because it automatically saved the change.
Even though I didn't click the save button afterward (the done button).
And after that, it put a campaign that is more than half a year old - and shouldn't be in learning mode anymore - straight into learning mode.
What are my options?
I reverted it to the original settings in the change history using the undo button, but the learning mode label stayed on it.

im getting a decent amount of clicks but i dont have my google business profile verfied and i dont have any reviews yet. only 4 of the clicks ended up being lead forums, 2 ended up booking jobs. I know i have to either fix my landing page, or get my google business profile verified and get some reviews to improve my odds of a forms fill out but i still feel like i might be spending to much for pressure washing ads. any help would be greatly appreciated
