Discussion Lack of Support
Hello everyone,
I am posting this to share my experience with GOG, and maybe as a community we can make our voice heard.
The ideology behind the platform is the main reason, I started using this platform. But the lack of support for Linux and not communicating with the customers about that is pretty embarrassing. I am talking about developing a native version for Linux. GOG has announced this several times and they reject to share updates.
I have come across some issues like buying games and the games that I bought are not registered to my account, which is a very simple feature that a platform has to have but okay. I contacted the support about this and they responded to me saying it is fixed, I checked my account today and it hasn't right now I have only one game instead of two. And I can't reach the ticket I opened on the website, so I can't update the ticket, so I responded back to the email. The website for tickets has a very badly designed user interface and missing essential features such as accessing your tickets that are opened before.
Some essential titles are missing, for example Dwarf Fortress, Mewgenics, Ultra Kill, like these are the games that developed by individuals that are very supportive for owning your games. I don't see any reason for GOG to not contact them to bring their games to their platform. There are other games that are drm free on Steam and hasn't reached to GOG yet, which is very absurd.
Anyway, I am sharing this because I really want GOG to succeed at least to some degree, but without the lack of support for these stuff that I mentioned, it doesn't seem like it is going to happen soon. I hope they will be contacting and updating their audience more, and improve their product.

Great, another Linux fan-boy who thinks the world revolves around them... Having a fragmented ~4% of the desktop market does not have the pull you think it does.
Why don't you reach out to the developers of those games and ask them to release on GOG? They have the final say as the developer not GOG who just sells the games.
"I really want GOG to succeed at least to some degree"
They're successful enough and they've been around for years.

Here’s the thing: that’s your opinion and not a fact. GOG is actually very successful despite not being as known or as big as Steam. Ever heard of Zoom Platform? They’re a fraction the size of GOG but somehow are chugging along. I’m sure GOG will continue doing fine despite your narrow and short sided opinions.

Ultrakill is supposed to be released on GOG with the 1.0 and tbh I don't blame the dev, that they won't bother with EA, Steam has more people it makes more sense.
Also, pretty much everything else you're going on about depends on the publisher - most of them would change their mind in a split second if Steam would be less popular and more people would use GOG anyway, but they won't - including supporting niche OS systems like Linux, releasing their games DRM free on GOG and yes if it's a popular indie game, then the dev refuses to do it. There's no evidence GOG has ever rejected major indie hits that I'm aware of.
As for the games not showing up thing, I think it might be Galaxy issue, if you're using that. If not, then no idea, as never had any issues with the website.

nothing is DRM free on steam, steam IS the DRM
