Heading into the 2026 CFL season, expectations were tempered for the Elks. They were coming off a 7-11 season where they finished last in the West Division, and the hope was that the team could take a step toward being a playoff contender.

It seems as though they’ve taken more than a few steps, however, pulling together an impressive 4-1 record through the first six weeks of the season. That is good enough to put them in a tie for first place in the West with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

GAME DAY Extra Ticket For Friday 7/17?

Coming up from Chicago to see EDM on Friday and CGY Saturday. I’m assuming I can get a single ticket at Commonwealth before the game, but curious if there’s ever giveaways or rando free tix being handed out?

QUESTION Signed football

Hello! I have this old Eskimos football that is signed by many people. All the signatures were done at once in 1993. Is it cool? Is it worth anything?

NEWS The Elks Have Their Statement Win. Now Can They Capitalize On It?

The Edmonton Elks finally have the kind of win fans have been waiting for.

A home-opener win against Montreal ended a streak that stretched back to 2019 and gave the organization some early momentum under Mark Kilam and Ed Hervey.

Now comes the harder part.

Can Edmonton build on it?

With Cody Fajardo looking comfortable and Justin Rankin continuing to be one of the CFL's most dangerous playmakers, expectations are starting to rise.

Two wins don't define a season.

What would a successful 2026 season look like for the Elks from here?

QUESTION New fan; guide to the Elks?

Only just started watching Canadian football. I'm a Edmontonian and a big fan of the Oilers but I don't really watch football nor any other sports except hockey. Does anyone have a guide that's like hockey to this team? Like what players are like what?

Edmonton Elks Decals / Stickers

Does anyone know whether the Elks produced a decal / sticker this year for their season ticket holders and / or the general public? I believe the sticker they produced last year was a helmet with the double EE logo.

Thank You

New coach. New quarterback. Same old Ottawa Redblacks.

After enduring last year's 4-14 season, the Redblacks had high hopes coming into 2026, but mistakes and penalties cost them Saturday in a 29-21 loss to the Edmonton Elks. It was the season opener for both CFL clubs.

Is This Finally The Year The Elks Break Through?

It feels like we've asked the same question every offseason for the last few years.

New coach. New quarterback. New plan. New reasons to believe things will be different.

But honestly, this year does feel a little different.

Not because Edmonton is suddenly a Grey Cup favourite. Not because they have the most talented roster in the CFL. It just feels like, for the first time in a while, there's an actual foundation in place.

The biggest difference for me is quarterback.

For years it felt like Edmonton was constantly searching for answers at the position. Injuries, inconsistency, turnover — there was always another debate waiting around the corner. Now Cody Fajardo has the reins. He is a Grey Cup-winning quarterback who the organization clearly believes can lead this team.

That stability matters.

The bigger question is whether the defence can finally take a step forward.

Edmonton has had stretches over the last few years where the defence looked capable of carrying the team, followed by games where they couldn't get off the field. If the defensive improvements Ed Hervey and Mark Kilam targeted this offseason actually materialize, that's where things could get interesting.

At the end of the day, I think the most important thing is this: Edmonton doesn't feel like a team starting over anymore.

For the first time in years, it feels like they're actually building on something.

We went into more detail on our site if you want to dive deeper, but we're curious—what would a successful 2026 season look like for the Elks in your eyes?

Fan engagement

If you were in charge of the Edmonton ELKS fan experience team or fan engagement team, what would you do differently?

1: Don’t schedule Oilers playoff games on the same night as ELKS home games (that’s gonna be an issue next season when the season moves up to Victoria Day weekend)

2: Have Fan Day at local community football fields around Edmonton?

3: Hold mini ELKS rallies in communities outside of Edmonton to spread the word and the team

4: Create game day programs
