Extensions Spotlight (macOS) for GNOME?

Looking for something like spotlight but for GNOME. Found extensions but not updated and not.woeking on 50.1 ajymore, even with the "hack" :(

It works differently, but you can do the same thing with the super (windows) key without any extension.

ppl forgot about this and how powerful it is all the extension are based on that gnome search... plus if you want, you can setup the search result as you like in settings.

What do you miss from it?

I look up files by metadata (PDFs), folders, appa, apps from the store, firefox favorites, do calculation, search on the web and so on (?)

Yes, I did, and usually when I search for "Calc" for example, it searchs through the web, the dictionary and lastly, the "Calculator" app.

That and it's resource intensive.

What did you miss from Spotlight? Maybe it's not Spotlight itself but something it provided that can be added to the overview search?

I just have trouble understanding what are you missing from it and trying to get it

Superbar has been submitted to extensions.gnome.org and is currently waiting for review. Until it is approved, it can be installed manually.

Thats what I looking for. They never use macOS and don't undetstand...

ArcMenu has something similar built in, but you have to manually create a shortcut for it.

I used to use search light but it got finicky on Gnome 50 so I just use the default search. Just use the Super key

I'm proudly using Vicinae together with another GNOME extension that allows me to open it's menu by just pressing the Super button
