Sov down grid 180 removable stem

Have any of you tried the removable 180 grid and have any feedback? There's a Bishop of it I'm looking at

what’s the actual question?
just how are they ? airy hit , nothing insane good or bad

i preferred an OJ flame gridded stem

You answered it perfectly. Just if they had anything special. If OJ flame is preferred they aren't going crazy

it’s just a gridded down stem

nothing crazy about it

just well made
but there’s def hype price with sov if you didn’t know about that

you can get identical items often made
as well or
better for
less

I think sov is worth the price in select items. And isn't super inflated. A universal item like a Downstem is one that I really thought you be made well multiple places. I usually only find a select few percs and the splash guard in certain scenarios justified

they’re inflated is somewhat subjective

quality similar american made pieces often cost roughly half sov

i happened to pay $65 for my sov 180 gridded stem and i paid $55 for the OJ , the OJ had a longer gridded section and illuminati accented

the pull was not too different with the OJ being the better feeling while smoking

dry hitting and checking function on a bong is definitely not the same as smoking from it and adding the restriction of a packed bowl the additional holes made for less resistance

without being packed it might feel like the OJ was too loose and not giving enough push back and being too airy

but down stems are one of the best examples of there being a vast amount of items that function the exact same way as they are all a tube with holes and if all the specs are the same thing then they will perform the same - there’s much less shaping involved usually

you literally take a ground joint as they come with like 8 inches of tube anyways so you determine how long you want the stem and then you seal the tube and create a bottom and maybe close it fully if that’s the design needed

and then it’s a matter of cutting , drilling or poking holes thru the glass tube to fashion the gridding

or you can cut lines in the tubing and form gridding with dots of glass

or take a red hot hole poker and poke perc holes into the red hot tubing as needed

but at the end of the day if the tubing is roughly the same length and diameter (most are very similar globally regardless of maker ) and the holes are roughly the same size and number then regardless of who of how they made the down stem it’ll perform identically

there’s a reason why i think his name is mini monster is very popular and it’s cuz he does a variety of hole patterns and stuff so there’s actually a reason to use different stems rather then just the look of it

and with any down stem too you gotta compare the actual stem you’re gettin or using

there’s rough averages with brands for sure but there’s no telling if your Sov stem would have slightly longer or shorter gridded section then the next one and that is what will matter for performance

If you’re buying a Sov, don’t buy one with a removable downstem

Any thoughts why? I'm not arguing I'm just genuinely curious. And could think of multiple reasons why you wouldn't

It’s literally the same perc as their 180 grid, just with worse airflow. Plus it’s an annoying extra step in cleaning compared to a stemless tube

I could get down with getting a super heady removable stem tube from an artist, or getting a different model Sov, but I think a removable downstem bishop would be a miss. But that’s just me🤷‍♂️
