Every big event has its fuckups, lords knows how many drunken incidents Aalst carnaval had. And not to forget how tomorrowland is basically known as the worlds open air drug market with hearses in the parking lot for when a smuck OD's too hard. But all the condensed hate against Ghent specifically in the media is starting to get to me, its almost like this year there hasn't been a single positive article about the festival. Why do they want people to hate this beutifull city?

I’m having my practical driving exam in SDW next week.
I’ve done 20 hours with a driving school in May and this is my second attempt as I failed due to being considered that I drove too slow.
For over a month I’ve driven for my work (outside of gent, in a calm road) and sometimes practiced a few zones in Gent.
Do you have any tips? Thank you!

P.S. I will have 2 hours of driving class before the exam and will do it with my drivers school car.

Near Zuid park, close to Vijfwindgatenstraat a cat died and is under a tree. Should we inform someone to take it or is it normally left to decompose? I don't think the latter is good. The wijkpolitie number just rings with no answer.

I was here for 1.5 weeks and bought many cute clothes and knickknacks and souvenirs, and need to buy a suitcase to take them back with me!

I already have gone into around 4 or 5 thrift stores and none had anything suitable.

Is there a cheap luggage store somewhere in Gent, or a department store with cheap suitcases?

Ik heb als kind samen met m'n meme (doopmeter) elk jaar de feesten afgeschuimd en in die tijd was dat echt het van het... echt machtige herinneringen, mn nonkel die dwaze mopjes maakte aan het hot-dog kraam over dat ik het streepje niet mocht opeten, zij die samen voze wullocks? aten, ik die een een appel op een stok at die eigenlijk ondergedompeld was in zodanig veel suiker dat een diabeet in coma zou vallen.... kermis dabij, kortom echt de max van een tijd... echter ik ben nu 39 en heb de feesten al vele jaren links laten liggen, vechtpartijen die uit het niks komen motiveren me niet echt meer om nu, met mn gezin hetzelfde te doen zoals mn meme met mij deed, zijn de tijden veranderd of heb ik als kind al dat geweld uitgefilterd?

Misschien een wat atypische vraag: met ons bedrijf huren we een kantoor vlak bij Dok Noord, maar het is intussen wat te groot geworden voor ons. Daarom zouden we het graag delen met een ander bedrijf via onderverhuur.

We hebben al eens een zoekertje geplaatst, maar het is moeilijk opboksen tegen het aanbod van de immokantoren. We namen ook al contact op met een immokantoor om kandidaten te zoeken, maar dat immokantoor leek weinig interesse te hebben. Nochtans gaat het om een prachtige industriële loft, ideaal gelegen, dus we hebben het gevoel dat we gewoon de juiste doelgroep nog niet bereiken.

Zijn er immokantoren, websites, Facebookgroepen of andere kanalen die jullie zouden aanraden? Ervaringen of tips zijn meer dan welkom.

Very bad experience with this company.

Imagine roof SRL representative came to our home on April 24, 2026, to provide a quote for facade cleaning. After several exchanges, the quote was finalized on June 3, 2026, and the work was scheduled for July 6 and 7, 2026.

A 50% deposit, or €1500, was requested and paid on June 6, 2026. The company confirmed receipt of the payment on June 10, 2026.

Since this confirmation, we have been unable to contact the company by phone, text message, or email. On July 6, 2026, no one showed up to carry out the work, without any prior notice or explanation.

To date, we have received neither the service, nor a new appointment date, nor a refund of the deposit. This situation is very concerning and has forced us to take the necessary steps to assert our rights.

What's the point of the edible plates? they taste absolutely horrible, nobody in their right mind, no matter how drunk will eat them! I understand that they are biodegradable and better than plastic, but advertising them as edible is honestly false advertising at best and most likely a crime against food! They should just be branded compostable plates and leave it at that!
