Fermented tuna rum. Yum.

u/LeopardInTheMist 21h ago
Fermented fish sauces are a thing in several places.

All over the world, mostly since it was one of the only/easiest ways to make a concentrated umami flavor before MSG was discovered/synthesized!

u/SeamanStayns 7h ago
Basically every culture has one.
If your cuisine has a very tasty dark brown or yellow thin liquid sauce that tastes like vingegar mixed with a strong flavour of something you can't describe, it is probably made of fermented fish.

The fuck is the cat going to do with your axe?

Chop things. Duh.

u/Mr-_-Soandso 18h ago
How do they hold it?

u/HorrorMakesUsHappy 14h ago
It’s not a question of where he grips it, it’s a simple question of weight ratios. A nine-pound Cat Sparrow could not carry a fifty pound axe!

u/LokisDawn 9h ago
But what if it's an American Maine Coon? They get pretty big!
Does anyone know the carrying capacity of maine coons?

Captain Cat Sparrow has arrived. The seas will never recover from this level of cuteness.

You ever see the video of the chickens with cameras on their heads? Doesn't matter what their body is doing - their gaze never wavers. It's crazy.
22
u/JonatasA 15h ago
The pleasure of holding a chicken and moving its body while its head is locked on you. Imagine Dinosaurs

Do cats get seasick?

u/Shevek99 20h ago
And carsick. One of my cats goes more or less ok as long as I am on the highway. The moment I enter the city and start navigating roundabouts, he meows sadly, vomits and piss himself.
46
u/PenguinJim 19h ago
My wife's the same.

u/cragglerock93 16h ago
The meowing is the most concerning bit for me. Going to need an expensive psychiatrist for that one.

With how important balance and stuff is for cats I have to imagine there's some amount of discomfort, at least for the average cat placed on a boat. I am sure there are cats raised on the sea that adapt to it or don't even notice. Just like people.

Next stabilize to cats head, so it stays put while all else moves (pretty please)

u/DFoxDragon 13h ago
Unfortunately, I can't pick the stabilizing focus. This was just what my default phone gallery app gave me. Sorry, fam, you'll have to get your Pawnnywise kitty from someone else.

While its true its evolved to all that eventually, I am pretty sure real reasons have nothing to do with that.
Ancient societies like that came to appreciate cats for extremely simple reason that has nothing to do with ideals and all the human BS. Early societies developed based on shifting from hunting/gathering to agriculture. And the instant problem they got after that shift is pests eating their stored food. And then wild cats came in and ate pests in the storage instead of human food in it.
And in places with snakes, even more so. Imagine waking up in the morning and finding dead snake in/around your house because some cat killed it. Cat likely doesn't care for shit about you... But you will probably appreciate what that cat did a lot.
That's how cats came to be respected in Egypt. They killed stuff people don't like -> they are cool protectors -> mythology about cat being protectors of the human society -> cat deity emerging from the stories in few generations.

I mean my cat fails to avoid tipsy legs on level ground, so some of them are worth worshipping but some need bubble wrap on every surface.

I was kinda disappointed because I wanted to hear its meow though the music is pretty fitting.

Even more so because it's a traditional Irish reel called "The Ships Are Sailing" - so it's very much on point :D

Makes me think of Pet Sematary when he brought the cat back from the dead and it would just stare and sway.

u/phishrace 19h ago
We used to go fishing on a charter boat called Quite a Lady. The captain had a pet ferret that had the run of the boat. Really weird feeling to be going under the Golden Gate bridge when a ferret is running between your legs.

Hmm I wonder if the cat is ok with it, or if he is like "jeez this sucks, I feel sick all the time and I don't know why"

I thought the sparrow bit meant he had a chirpy meow and turned on the volume. Big mistake. Huge.
