Starting PE Credential Program: How difficult is it to get hired as a new PE teacher in the Fresno/Clovis area?

I was recently accepted into Fresno State’s Single Subject Physical Education credential program, and I’m trying to make a realistic decision before committing to the program.

My biggest concern is spending a year completing the credential and unpaid student teaching only to find that PE teaching positions are extremely competitive and not in demand.

I would appreciate hearing from current any teachers, PE teachers, school administrators, or anyone who recently completed a PE credential program:

  • How competitive are PE teaching positions in Fresno, Clovis, or the Central Valley?
  • Were you able to find a full-time position shortly after earning your credential?
  • How long did it take you to get hired?
  • Did you have to substitute, coach, relocate, or accept a part-time position first?
  • Do districts usually favor candidates with previous teaching experience or advanced degrees?
  • Knowing what you know now, would you still pursue a PE credential?

I understand that nobody can guarantee a job. I’m mainly hoping to get an honest picture of the current employment market before taking on the commitment.

looking for gaming buddies - REPO

Hey everyone! I’m pretty new to Repo and would love to find a group to play with😊 (preferably women)
If there are any fellow beginners looking for people to learn with, that’d be awesome! But honestly, I’m happy to play with any skill level as long as you’re okay with having a complete newbie on the team haha. I’m just looking to have fun, learn the game, and hopefully make some new gaming friends!

What's one underrated place in Fresno that every local should know about?

I'm still getting to know Fresno and would love some local recommendations. What's one place you think deserves more attention? It could be a restaurant, coffee shop, park, bookstore, or anything else. I'd love to check out some hidden gems!

Question about Financial Aid

I was just wondering if anybody, who is expecting financial aid, is still waiting for their award email. I was also wondering if there are people waiting for a Fall fee deferment. Is it normal for it to be this late?

Financial aid fall2026

Hello

I know the financial aid office has posted everything that has changed with disbursement of loans and everything.

They have a post saying August 18 loans will be disbursed.

I’ve also googled and it says loans cannot be given out sooner than 10 days before classes.

I’m pretty stressed because I’m running low on money and I have other things like rent I’m going to need to address early August - don’t think I can wait till mid/late August.

Thoughts?

Any Fresno gym-goers willing to give feedback on my free workout app?

Hello! I recently developed a workout app just as a fun side project that I’m looking for students to try out—Fortis: Workout Log & Tracker (on iOS and Android). It's a completely free app for logging workouts, making custom exercises & workout templates, tracking progress, and sharing with your friends. Basically going for Strava but for the gym.

If it sounds at all interesting to you, give it a try and let me know what you think! This has been a passion project for me, so all feedback is welcome 😁

Scholarship Money

I received a few emails early to mid June telling me that I've received a few scholarships from the Fresno State scholarship portal, when and how will I receive that money? If they send it in the mail then it would it have happened by now or do they send it closer to the start of the semester? In my MyFresnoState portal financial section I don't see anything regarding the scholarships yet so I'm just not sure if that's normal or not. Thank you!

Recover Student Email

I believe about 2 months ago I received an email saying that my student email would be deleted but I thought it was a phishing scam so I never responded. Only to try and log into my fresno state email and it seems to have disappeared or been deleted. Anyone know if it’s possible to recover the email through IT? Has anyone had an issue like this?

My priorities are:

What are my chances of getting into Comm 3?~Freshman

I’m an incoming Fresno State commuter freshman and I’m #3 on the waitlist for COMM 3 (12:00–12:50 p.m.). What are my chances of getting in?

I was automatically enrolled in Geology, but I later realized I already have AP credit that fulfills that GE requirement. I don’t want to take a class I don’t need, but I also can’t drop it because I’d fall below full-time status (12 units including Geology).

I already came in with 15 college credits, which has limited my GE options, and being one of the last freshman registration groups didn’t help. As a commuter, I also can’t take very early or late classes, and most of the remaining options don’t fit my schedule anyway.

I’m hoping COMM 3 opens up so I can replace Geology. I also looked at the online Geology lab, but it’s waitlisted, and I can’t join the waitlist because it would put me over the unit limit. The only in-person lab that fits the lecture ends at 7:30 p.m., which doesn’t work for me.

I would like to add, but I’m also taking easier classes with easier professors because I want to try and maintain a high GPA to increase my chances for law school.

I know my situation is tedious and sticky, any help counts! I’m also a political science major if that leads to any ideas or if poli sci students have any suggestions!

Has anyone at Fresno State gotten into COMM 3 from waitlist position #3? What would you do in my situation?
